I thoroughly enjoy reading Sinister, though this is my
first post. Why? Perhaps Im nervous about what to
say. Im a bit self-conscious about not fitting-in or
something.
Thats probably because Im not as indie as I like to
think I am: I cant bear not to capitalize my Is;
being an American, my mind has been at least slightly
warped by the culture around me; Im no longer a
student (though I wish I still were...but, then again,
I was a business major); I dont own a record player;
I do own a Palm; Im contemplating, dare I say,
downloading the new B&S on MP3; and I work in
software. By the way, I'm also the author of a novel
affectionately entitled the state I am in (though in
order to actually sell anything, I would have to be
overly ambitious and manipulative which Im not very
good at so my book doesnt sell very well...which is
okay because I am happy with it).
That MP3 part...I wouldnt actually do it. B&S is the
only band in the world that I wouldnt do it to. B&S
is the most beautiful, pure music in the world. It is
a sort of common understanding across cultures and
lifestyles. It is a celebration of a lifestyle we
cant all live...but its at least alive in our
imaginations. I know, Im not telling you anything
you dont already know and its starting to sound a
little canned. When I saw the show in Seattle just
days after the tragedy...well, I cant really describe
how perfect it all was. And when I caught the
licorice that Stewart threw into the crowd...lets
just say that Ill keep it forever! Im even thinking
about framing it along with a great picture I snapped
of the band!
I dont have any delicious stories to share right
now...or anything particularly witty to say as I look
out my quiet office window at yet another rainy
Seattle day. If something comes to me, Ill let you
know. I just wanted to say hi and that I enjoy
Sinister.
