Sinister: it's social...demented and sad...but social.

greetings and salutations;
first i'll respond to things i have read:

Janitoria: i think Arab Strap would sing a song about shagging in a car
wash. well, sort of speak it, anyway.
Thrift Store Rob: nice nickname, isn't it? i just went to my fave thrift
store down the street and got The Coolest Shirt On Earth. it's white with
brown embroidery, four pockets in front, pockets on each short sleeve (it's
button down light cotton, i forgot to mention) and the buttons are little
wooden tiki heads. i want to get a scanner just so i can email a picture of
this shirt to John Waters, for i think he would envy me for it.
Ruvi: pretty girls make graves.
Pinefox: Pynchonians are a bit too sophisticated for Salinger. Perhaps
people who read Salinger in youth graduated to Pynchon later and now slag
him off in shame. Catcher in the Rye is great in high school, and, for that
matter, so is the Bell Jar. any age where one is dissaffected even though
they have all they need in the world is a good time for these authors.
of course, for me, my taste has changed in my old age, and i don't know what
to make of it. i went from bergman to waters in film, and camus to
jacqueline susann. okay, i do read more heady than susann, but i can't help
but be charmed by work that crosses the line, that skirts the edge of taste,
that's just...trash. i love it. it's like senor coconut doing kraftwerk,
or yma sumac, or martin denny musically. it's like tiki culture, which is
making a comeback if it's the last thing i do.
gotta go. gotta watch desperate living one more time before it's due back at
the video store...
