Sinister: why do b & s moments never happen when you want them to?

this is my first post so eeeek please don't frighten me... i'm only ickle...
this post will probably be of no interest to anyone, so i won't be offended
if you hit delete now...

i was going to wait till i had a real b & s moment to talk about before i
posted, but that got me thinking, what would be a good enough moment to post
about?

so i thought and i imagined and i dreamt and before i knew it i was sure
that on saturday night i was going to meet the mystery girl i'd been bumping
into of late and summon up the strength to talk to her...

anyway, i half knew the mystery girl (and had a big crush on her) about 4
years ago... i later found out that she'd had a crush on me at the same
time, but by then i was going out with one of her friends (eeek i know...)

after that i didn't see her for years. she stopped going to the place where
we'd met and disappeared completely. but in the last few months i've seen
her 4 or 5 times and every time i've just managed to stutter a 'hi' and that
was about it. it turned out she was working in a shop in leicester, but now
the shop's closed so once again i have no way of finding her...

i'd only ever seen her once at a club and that was new year's eve at
leicester's indie club so i was hoping that she'd be at brighton beach (a
once far-too-rarely northern soul night) yesterday. i even kinda felt sure
she'd be there (i think i've been listening to far too much b & s and gentle
waves; it's turned me into a smiley heap of loved-up niceness...- does that
count as content honey??)

and i had this dream that the dj would play a b & s record early on while
the dance floor was still quite empty and i'd go to dance and i'd see her in
front of me...

now this dream was not only unrealistic because the girl probably wasn't
going to be there, but because the dj had never (yes NEVER) played any b &
s.

i'd been dancing for a while when i heard those guitar notes, that downwards
arpeggio gubbins those drums... yes it was... OH MY GOD... yeahhhhhh...

she was playing legal man, for a boy who'd never heard any b & s in his home
town this was a tad on the exciting side... for a moment i forgot my mystery
girl and the excitement took over, but later, sitting in the other room,
watching the dancers dancing into their own worlds i remembered.

there was the song, where was the girl?

suddenly everyone was a couple.

they all looked very sweet (my cynicism died when i first heard photo jenny)
but where was the girl i was supposed to be with? alak..

i'd even brought my camera to take a photo of her, my photo jenny (she's not
called jenny, but i'm not 100% sure what she is called so she's been renamed
in my head...)

and that was it my un-belle-and-sebastian-moment...

alone, calm, happy, yet dissapointed, broken...

well anyway... there's my story... i'm impressed you're still reading =)

i'll let you escape from me and my broken-hearted whingeings now

byeeeeeee

love n hugs
