dear god, man, don't you ever rest?!

i'm crawling through a bunch of mail from the past two weeks, and couldn't
resist this.

the band on molly's notebook was the rave-ups, who i believe were the club
band in "pretty in pink"?

robert does indeed have a great voice. it's a shame that his "tower of
song" has to compete with nick's though. i guess they couldn't decide on
which of ten versions to use and just used them all? nick also wipes the
floor with his "avalanche" from 1984. that wimpy french guy on "i'm your
fan" doesn't stand a chance. :)

speaking of wiping the floor ( oh groan, groan) i fully understand your
dustmop compulsion. i'm a complete sucker for domestic objects. i still
lust after the mondo kitchen-aid counter mixer. "oh my god it's the coolest
thing i've ever seen! but when the hell do i bake anything??? can i
justify $200+ bucks for something i'll only dust and stare at?" i get
pulled in by flashy new cleaning supplies too. i always have to stop in
that aisle and peer around, usually walking away with a blue toilet duck
just to satisfy my cravings. yes, i love the blue water! who wouldn't?
and i find i'm still brushing the toilet in my now former roommate's
apartment whenever i'm in the bathroom, even though his girlfriend replaced
me when i left. well, it's my brush after all, and i can pretend i'm still
living away from home while i struggle to enter grad school out of mom's
house. i feel very sneaky though. "hey, who cleaned the toilet?" i know
*he* won't. i'll enjoy visiting my couches and coffee table they're
thoughtfully "boarding" for me once she finally unpacks and clears the
living room. they're not messy people so it's infinitely better than
renting a storage space until i move back out.

as i've probably mentioned before, it is a mindblowing experience to the
(then) 24 year old mind to buy *new* furniture. "i just bought a sleeper
sofa with matching loveseat?! who the hell am i???"

i still want that mixer though. it just looks so "atomic age". i'll need a
black and white checkered kitchen floor for it though.

oh, and i get all my film developed in the big evil store too, and they do a
good job, so...... i'm sticking with wolf though on the slides and giant
enlargements. know when to hold 'em and know when to fold 'em, you know?
"you could've actually possibly sold this picture, but, uh, i think the
night cleaning crew threw away your negative.........would you like a free
roll?"

and yes, mike, of montreal are great! :)

jay

"you know.....black and white.....would just capture the moment" "awww"
"awwwwwww!"
