Sinister: Look away now if you don't want to know the score- Perth Gig Review

A mile and a half on a bus from dundee to perth takes a very long time... 
especially as the bus in question decided to go round and round one little 
village three times...
As a girl from a rural town I should appreciate the importance of  public 
transport stopping in these little towns... but having moved to the bright 
lights of dundee I was impatient and wished the bus would just take the 
dual-carriage.
On  a night like this I wasn't in the mood for the scenic route and I glared 
angrily at people getting on at the million stops inbetween...

The night of this criminal time wasting bus journey was in fact the 11th of 
June and a little known scottish band called belle and sebastain were 
playing at the the City hall... i know that they are little known because a 
couple of gentlemen passing by the queue asked who we were waiting for and 
when I replied belle and sebastian they laughed and said "never heard of 
them"...
They looked like the type of gentlemen that you could trust to have good 
taste in music as well...

Perth town (as according to the bus driver), city (as according to my 
tickets) hall was big and dark with round lights decorating the ceiling... I 
think at the time I thought it seemed like a very nice hall but my mind was 
not really concentrating on the architecture too well...

The uptown shufflers shuffled stage on at 8.00  and were met with some 
enthusiasm... in particular Jackie who seemed to have developed quite a 
loyal fan base since Dunoon. The looks of amusement and bemusement that they 
encountered from the audience were replaced by smiles and cheers when they 
finished up with a song from the jungle book.

And then they left leaving much restless anticipation... argghh!! Honestly 
how is any person supposed to wait patiently watching roadies setting up 
instruments?

The band appeared on stage and started with le pastis and  from then on the 
set was the same as Dunoon...

"I'm feeling quite talkative tonight" said Stuart... and it seemed he was... 
At the time he was standing up ready to play guitar or sing or something 
like that. He was not at his piano as dictated by the set list.
"I just wanted to see Stevies' reaction" And as well as this talkativeness 
the band in general seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Stuart sang "I missed the ferry last night" during the boy with the arab 
strap. And his converstaion with Stevie as to what Johnathan and David was 
about left me wanting to know more than ever:
"its personal" stevie said with a coy smile...

During the break in the set Stevie sang the sun has got his hat on elvis 
costello style... now I'm really quite sure this wasn't a request from the 
audience. It was very funny nonetheless...

Strangely enough one of the biggest cheers of the night was for the 
reappeance of the uptown shufflers...
"we will be supporting them by the end of the tour"

So apart from all of this what did they sound like?
Brilliant of course...
