Oh how one gets sick of reading posts about gigs they'd really love to be
at, when, realistically speaking, they have no means to be at. (this means
you, UK listees). and to Hye Min, who wrote the "6 Reasons Why My Life Sucks
Right Now and Why I Can't Do Anything To Help It" post, well, at least B&S
are coming to your country, right? I mean, you *could* get there a damn site
quicker and cheaper than I could, all the way from arse-end-of-the world New
Zealand.

(right now my only hope is that, when a certian Mr Robertson comes to New
Zealand, he will be *completely blown away* with the beautiful scenary,
relaxed lifestly etc., that he will INSIST that B&S relocate here, or at
least come over and play some gigs) .... yeah yeah, fat chance.

but I feel your pain anyway.

***IRRELEVANT RANT-(please skip)***

I have discovered why most normal Americans hate Christians so much. as a
long time Christian, and a fairly reasonably person most of the time, I've
always found the vehemence which "normal", reasonable Americans hate
Christians with to be a little disturbing. like, why? but yesterday I found
out. I was trying to find some information of Templar Knights, to supplement
my current reading of Umberto Eco's "Foucault's Pendulum". anyway, I come
across all these "we hate Roman catholic" sites put up by mad-raving
fundamental "Christians" (and I use that term loosely) OK, so the Catholic
has
been responsible for God know how many atrocities, but this didn't seem to
be their reason. no, Catholicism is the "whore religion", is tied up with
the Illumaniti, is actually a Satanic cult, and is behind the "new world
order", whatever the hell that is.

So that was all quite interesting. and then the bit about rock'n'roll. Rock
music is evil because it causes children to violate the commandment
"children, honour your mother and father". Because some adults don't like
rock music, and hence listening to it is disobeying them. nice once folks.

I realise this has absolutely nothing to do with Belle & Sebastian, nor
indie pop in general, but I just felt like ranting, because ... well, no one
else cares.

Stephen Malkmus is coming here. I am excited. Sure, he's not Belle &
Sebastian, but it's something, right? Although it doesn't sound like he's
playing any Pavement stuff, and his album is short, so I can't really see
him
playing for more than an hour. Still, the tickets are cheap.

***BELLE & SEBASTIAN STUFF***
It is more than a year since "Fold Your Hands ..." came out. I was wondering
what the general consensus about the album was, now it's had time to settle.
Personally, I now rank it as my second favourite B&S album, like so ....
1. "Tigermilk"
2. "Fold Your Hands Child You Walk Like A Peasant"
3. "If You're Feeling Sinister"
4. "The Boy With The Arab Strap"
Of course, I still love "Arab Strap", it's just the one I listen to least.
But the worst B&S album is still better than the best albums by most bands,
right?

The set lists coming back from the gigs sound great. A lot of new material.
I really hope a new album materialises soon. I mean, I know they've said
that they wont release anything for a while, but it would be nice (hint
hint) if the tour, playing together etc., got the creative juices flowing,
the they popped off to the studio for a few weeks and churned out an album
in a few weeks (like the first two), and not a year like the last two).
There is something to be said for spontaneous album creation ... Hefner do
it brilliant, and anyone how has had the pleasure of listening to "In The
Pines" by The Triffids (recorded in a woolshed for a few hundred bucks, in a
few days) will know what I mean.

I second the proposal for a bible themed B&S album too ....

I feel like the only person in the world who hasn't heard it. I am itching
with anticipation for the parcel coming from amazon.co.uk (not from
Jeepster, because they didn't get their act into gear quickly enough, alas
.....)

this post lacks focus, I know. And for that I apologise. I am tired, and
need to go to sleep. Hope all is well, and that all gig goers are enjoying
themselves. think of me, OK?
