Sinister: Probing questions...

Well kids,

I think I may as well have my say on the Peel session, so here goes:

IT WAS PRETTY GOOD.

I'm glad I recorded it, though, because I wasn't keen on STSA initially, but
now I love it. This may be asking for trouble, but, as I say, I taped the
session, and so if anybody missed out, I'd be happy to send them a copy if
they send me a tape, even to someone as far afield as Lawrence...

As for the single, does anybody else think that the string section in
TYCCASI sounds like a slowed down version of "There's Too Much Love" off
FISHYCLAP? I do. And when it breaks down just before the vocal line comes in
again, I think it sounds a lot like "A Century Of Fakers".

I had a horribelle thought at work today. I had Tigermilk, IYFS and
TWATTYBUS all playing, and I suddenly thought,

"Are B&S actually any good anymore?",

and I almost came to the conclusion of

"No".

Almost, but not quite. The reason for this was that as IYFS was playing, I
was thinking about how the first three albums (and the early EPs) spoke to
me really brilliantly, eloquently, perfectly about my life, and told me that
it was okay to feel the way I did about things, and all the rest of it.

Then I thought, "Does FISHYCLAP do this kind of thing to me?",

and I though, "not reeeeaaaaaallllly, but it does have some delightful
stories".

The thing is, they no longer seem to touch me like they used to, and I
thought,

"I'm prolly just growing out of B&S".

But then I downloaded Rhoda a couple of weeks ago and absolutely adored it
and musically hugged it and all the rest of it and it gave me the same
feeling that they first albums did, so perhaps I'm just being all NME and
only liking the early stuff. I really really really hope that they return to
the kind of blinding form they showed in the late-nineties, cos they were
fab.

Don't get me wrong, all their songs are rilly grate, and just cos they don't
**speak** to me doesn't mean they're not witty and tuneful and all the rest
of it, and a shitload better than 99.9% of other indie bands. It's just that
I feel that B&S are like a former Champion football team who always finish
2nd or 3rd in the table, but we all know that they can finish top...(much
like my beloved ARSENAL, but anyway).

Anyway, sorry for the rant, I just wondered if anybody else felt this way,
or if I was just having an off day...

ENOUGH!

love
