Listen up, people. You won't have heard about this
yet, but the Scottish pop group Belle and Sebastian
are releasing some new records. One of them is called
'Jonathan and David' and will be out on June 18th, to
mark the anniversary of the 'J18' demonstrations.

Lead track is called 'Jonathan and David'. Other songs
include 'Take Your Carriage Clock And Shove It'. A
'carriage clock' is a kind of clock, a piece used for
keeping the time on carriages. It is often given to
pop groups at awards ceremonies in Scotland.
Speculation is Fife, I mean, rife that songwriter
Rupert Murdoch wrote the song because he was sick of
being given carriage clocks at ceremonies. The song
effectively says, "take back the carriage clock with
which you have just presented me, because I don't want
it. I already have one. In fact, I have several".

A third track in the running is called 'The Middle of
the Loneliest Runner'. This is a song that the band
played on the Tube a couple of years ago, on a
carriage between Liverpool Street and Barking. It is
not known whether the carriage had a clock. The song
describes the loneliness of being a runner.

I hope that this news has got you interested. I also
have some more news which I think you'll agree is even
more exciting. Belle & Sebastian will be playing some
dates in Scotland this summer. They may also play some
palms, possibly in Morocco, depending on the state of
the Road.
