Sinister: liverpool?

I'm currently waiting for my work permit paperwork to be completed, but if all 
goes well, I will be living and working in liverpool this fall. I applied to a 
research position at the university of liverpool and accepted the offer this 
past week.

Anyone have any comments that they'd like to share about liverpool? such as 
things to do, or places to live. I've never been there. Actually, I've never 
been to europe! I'm currently in Washington DC (suburban maryland is my 
hometown, if that can even be considered a town) and was out in central 
illinois for the past couple of years.

Since everyone on this list obviously has a good taste in music, I figured
