Sinister: Don't leave the BRIGHT-ON baby.....

Hello again.

Sorry to just leap into the puns, but I couldn't resist that one.

I went to Brighton yesterday, to buy new shoes. I popped on the Brighton
express and arrived at 1:30. And I was on the train home at 3:30. Much as
I like Brighton, (being skint) I couldn't think of much to do there.
Secondhand clothes are actually more expensive than in London down there. I
had a lovely lunch in Infinity though.

Anyway, the point I was going to make was this. On the train down, I was
looking out of the window and daydreaming. And I got to thinking about
bands/artists who manage to cultivate a sense of their surroundings in their
work. I think travelling through Battersea made me think of Morrissey, and
how he used to move from Manchester to London to Manchester.....etc. Then I
thought about B&S, and the sense that they are very much a 'Glasgow' band.
And I started feeling like I have lost my identity to some extent. As I
spent the first 18 years of my life living in Devon (in the same house) and
most of my adult life in London. I have moved back to Devon a couple of
times. And each time I have found it difficult because I have changed. But
I find it difficult in London too, because I'll always be Devonian really.
There is no answer to this. But I wonder what (if any) impact this has had
on my writing. Hmmmmmmm. I'll have to go through my stuff and see how much
writing I've done about train journeys.
