Sinister: Antics, Hijinks, Shenanigans, Mischief...

It has been a long long time since I posted anything to Sinister. I was
prodded in this direction by a review in a friend's mag written by
Stephen Trousse who surely (I'm sure) is (was) Trousers. If he isn't
then he jolly well ought to be.

Did anyone see the God Help The Girl prog on C4 last week? It was
lovely, could have done with a bit longer really. I found it strangely
reassuring to see even Stevie Jackson is looking older. It's not just
me then. The album is a real winner in case anyone hasn't heard it. At
first I liked the Asa (from Smoosh) songs best. Then "Pretty Eve in the
Tub" (all Stuart and stately strings). Now I'm into "Hiding Neath My
Umbrella". It's got a lovely early 60s, melancholy/happy, Bacharach and
David feel. It's in 3/4 (or 6/8 or somesuch). It's got a lot of piano
and then a big orchestra. It reminds me of "It's For You" which Lennon
& McCrrtney wrote for Cilla Black when she was a singer. Classy.
Anyway, you've got to hear it for yourself. The orchestral flourish in
the middle will knock your socks off, as Alan Partridge might have
said.

That's all I wanted to say really. And that I'm still playing The Life
Pursuit a lot and reckon it might be one of their best. Look at all
that on-topic content! Ye cannae complain at that (?)

I'm glad Sinister is still with us.

Love to one and all.

Robert
