Sinister: Westminster tonight

Hello Sinister,

I meant to post a couple of months ago, as the list sputtered back into life to discuss a new album and book, but I just didn’t manage to do so. Now that it’s quietened down again, I regret missing out. I’m not sure I’d have had much to contribute, not having read Stuart David’s book and with Chris Jones already having posted a link to my review of GIPWTD, but I think I’d have enjoyed feeling like a contributory *part* of Sinister again nonetheless. Never mind. I snoozed, and lost - these things must be accepted - and I enjoyed being a brief lurker.

I enjoyed the Pine Fox's tales of office toilet politics, and Ken’s writings about muff, ATP and riding on city buses. As it happens, I am off to Iceland in July for the ATP there, at which Belle & Sebastian will be playing, so will try and remember to Report Back afterwards, with news of how our Icelandic friends enjoyed the festivities.

I write now, though, out of step with the rest of Sinister it would seem, simply to inform anyone who might be interested that I’m seeing Belle & Sebastian at Westminster Central Hall this evening. It’ll be the first Belle & Sebastian concert I’ve attended since their Latitude set in the summer of 2010, and the first indoors since February 2006 (which doesn’t actually feel as if it was over nine years ago - or, maybe, that's just what nine years feels like these days). so I'm slightly apprehensive. I loved that band so much; I hope that by 11pm I won't be feeling too desperate to travel back in time. Anyway, I’ll be flying solo, so if anyone sees me and wants to say hello, by all means do (unless, of course, it’s during one of the band’s quieter numbers - this is not 'Nam, after all). I’ll probably get there for the support band, Lower Dens, around 8pm.

Perhaps I’ll be so moved by the show, one way or the other, that I’ll Report Back on it tomorrow, and not wait to do my RB-ing until returning from Iceland in July. Who knows, perhaps other Sinisterines will do the same - I’m not sure if you’ve gone back to sleep or not, dear Sinister. I hope you’re only dozing.

Love
