i've just joined in (am obviously more easily satisfied than that demanding totv "character") and would like to add my thought about the 3,6,9er ; when i listened to 'le pastie' via the web page it had this lovely distorted twanky twaaaAAAnGG jaunty piano bit, does the actual recording have it (yet to get home to lissen) or is that my dodgy speaker? [Keith Watson] I haven't listened to the one on the web page, but I've had it on a tape for ages and it is a different version that I've got, basically not much different, just a different kind of mix, more lead guitar. Funny, I never thought of the Smiths with the Dog on Wheels cover, but yesterday when I saw the cover of 3..6..9 I thought of them immediatly. The colours reminded me of "Rank". I like the B & S covers, very nice. And I like the wee stories. The smiths never gave you a wee story. The last band who's covers I loved were that of Suede. Remember the white backgrounds with the 'artistic' images on the front? I was gutted when they stopped doing them. I'm very talkative today, aren't I? Hi! I think I remember that the one from Jeepster who threatened the soon-to-be bootleggers mentioned another ep (which means another one than 3..6..9...) before this year ends. I didn´t save that posting, but that´s how i remembered it. I might be wrong, though. So the question remains unanswered... Any rumors? Keith Watson! You mentioned "Please kill me " and "From the Velvets..." which I tought was interesting as I plan to order them from Bokus.com. How are they, and most important do they cover the same artists and in that case, which one is the best? Oh... also, forgot to mention. If anyone's at all interested in Seymour Stein then Clinton Heylin's "From the Velvets to the Voidoids" and "Please Kill Me" by Legs McNeil and Gillian McCain are good places to learn about his dealings with the late 70's New York Punk scene. Unfortunately these are the only kind of books I read - I'm not at all well read... I have read almost all of the Mr.Men books though. I'm glad to see we have a (part-time) heavy metal fan on the list. What do your heavy metal mates think of Belle and Sebastian? Poofters, I bet. [Keith Watson] Hear Hear... glad to see you're loud and proud about it. I'm personally quite partial to Motorhead at times, and ACDC - Back in Black and Hell's Bells - cracking tracks - I'm a big led Zep fan too, and Purple, Sabbath etc. Unlike quite a lot of my friends however, I've never had a hairy metal past - My mate Kevin's got loads of metal albums and has been to see Whitesnake three times. Myself however I've never brought my daughter to the slaughter or anything like that (partly because I don't have a daughter and I don't know where the slaughter, or even what, it is). Most of the guys at work have had a metal past too - well, that's computer scientists for you. I did drag one of my metal pals from when I was at school to see Belle and Sebby at the Mitchell Library last year and he thought it was great - maybe there is a connection. So I did him a Kracking Kompilation of B+S "hits" for him to play on his walkman. Keith. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- .
