Sinister: Thoughts while staring at my Smiths poster
I started thinking while I was staring at the large _Rank_ poster on my wall that maybe Belle and Sebastian are naming a lot of their songs with parts of other Smiths songs. I could be wrong, since the Smiths wrote songs in English as do Belle and Sebastian and hence there could be a lot of overlap in words used, but bear with me here, I'm trying to put together a shaky conspiracy theory. Obviously there's THE BOY WITH THE ARAB STRAP = THE BOY WITH THE THORN IN HIS SIDE but then there's IS IT WICKED NOT TO CARE? = IS IT REALLY SO STRANGE? both with question marks in the title, mind you. FOX IN THE SNOW = GIRLFRIEND IN A COMA THE ROLLERCOASTER RIDE = THE DRAIZE TRAIN You know what, maybe there was nothing to this. But then again, maybe that's what they want us to think. FOX IN THE SNOW = GIRLFRIEND IN A COMA Christ - you've got it! With these we can indeed prove they took it all from the Smiths. However I was thinking, the only thing common here is the word "in" so in that case, maybe they're ripping off "Living in a box" by Living in a box! Indeed "Box even rhymes with "Fox" (as in in the Snow). Christ - if I keep on going on with this, Box, begins with "B" followed by "IN the snow", put these two together, you've got "BIN" - yes - you've won Dusty Bin! Peter, we used to have several people at school who we called Joe 90. I doubt if that happens any more, not least cause Joe 90 isn't on the telly any more, but also because of the sad passing of the British Institution that was National Health Service Specs. I wish they'd bring them back, so stylish. I walked down the mound in Edinburgh today past the site where the Scottish Parliament will temporarily rest till it moves to Holyrood. They were talking about where the MP's would go for a drink the other day, although they were concentrating on when it moves to Holyrood. However, the only near place for the MP's to go for a drink next to the temporary Parliament, is as place called the Car Wash, which is this funny retro 60's pub just next to the building. That should turn that place into a strange mix of people indeed. And Tag, thought of another question for the quiz. I think we need to keep adding to it. This one concerns your feelings of Alanis Morissette. I had to ask this as I know you're a big fan of Canadians as well as the French (for all the new people, Tag is a massive fan of Johnny Halliday and Jean-Michele Jarre). So... Alanis Morissette, does she... a) Feel your pain and has done a lot for women all over the world b) Understand what irony is and isn't afraid to demonstrate it c) Make you laugh lots Cheers, Keith. Ps : Claire - sorry, didn't read mail last night, however, not much went on last night here as far as I know.... +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list please mail "sinister@majordomo.net". Oddly enough, I just did a web search on NHS specs to see if there was anything interesting, and what comes up the top of the hits but... (Well, after Showaddywaddy anyway for some strange reason). http://www.begbie.com/rod/photos/nhs.html Cheers, Keith. +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list please mail "sinister@majordomo.net". Hiya! Hey, Spare Snare...they've done one really good song, I know this for I listened to it today on the bus and it felt reet gorgeous and calming. Its called "Hard of Hearing" and its got another song called "Lesbians in Waistcoats", which even made my friend Ross "I like Placebo and ATR I AM THE GOD OF HARDKORE not really its all just a pose scene" (?) jump out of his skin. But ooh just buy it. Sod bloody Hefner, with their how quietly can I strum a guitar comptetion..... Miller, I think you confused Yé-Yé dresses with triangles and not very well drawn ones at that too, on my tape. Did you like it?? Please give some feedback cos I wish to convert everyone to the joys of Welsh Pop! Especially Welsh Hippety Hop! Buy TYSTION's Brewer Spinks EP. Anyway, I shall draw a Ye Ye dress and put it on my MELYS (and Miffy well soon maybe?!) website (http://www.elsato97.demon.co.uk) What lovely sign weather my it guestbook is today. Subliminal messages, bonkers. Wonder if they work.... I bought a train ticket to London today and am very nervous. Londons scary and full of hipsters....I've never been to da big shitty before... I feel like Beverly Hillbilly. Of course I am not going untill Feb, but I can still feel nervous. I shall meet the curious breed called London Sinister people....hang on I had a thought the other day. I don't know ANY B&S fans from the north! I mean, yeah theres people who live in Manchester - but who are southern, theres alright a WIRRAL person (but that doesn't count as being northern cos he can't say "eey oop") so what I am trying to say is (breathe) where are you? Honestly this came to me and gary the other night and I couldn't think of anyone.....probably cos we're all stuck down the whippet racing and don't approve of all this Pop music nonsense. Quite right toooo. Poepin je hoofd is a funny saying I feel. I say it to people who I want to insult without them getting angry at me. Hehehe! I'M GOING NOW BYE!!!!!!
