So Jim, You wanted to know what we thought of the bands you listed. Well I've not heard Surfboards of Canada so I can't comment, but have a look in the archives, I remember that a lot was written about them a while back. And as for theaudience, they are just so; 1 clever, coz the decided not to use any capital letters or spaces in their name. Just imagine how much better Belle & Sebastian would be if Stuart (wash your mouth out with soap and water, boy!) had decided to call the band belleandsebastian. Oh how different things would have been. 2. the new Garbage. It is a conspiracy, you see, get a load of old men to form a band and get a singer who is marginally more attractive than them to sing. 3.clever (again), because they have taken the idea of using long song titles from our very finest B&S (eg LLPJ , TWATTYBUS.) and given us the classics that are "A pessimist is not usually disappointed except on Mondays" and "I dont know enough blah blah blah". And they didn't even use an apostrophy in that last song title. 4. Cool. coz they know that nobody likes them so the members take it in turn to leave just to get publicity and stay in the news of NME (aka the i love Sophie Baxter Ellis, hamster girl fanzine.) 5 Haven't you got the message yet that they are not very good. Even Smash Hits magazine (my sister buys it, not me!) gave it 1out of 5 and they know a good album when they see one. Hope that helps you in deciding if you are going to buy the album. Gomez!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't particularly rate the album. Long live "The boy with the Persian Cat" I'm currently listening to a Century of Elvis. It could be a giant millepede. And that would explain why Stuart M has an insect phobia, he had a bad experience while at Stuart David's house. And maybe Ease Your Beetle in the Sea, is a tale of revenge. I think I've had too many smarties.
