When I was unpopular on this list I asked everyone what film they though would suit a Belle and Sebastian song soundtrack. Thanks to some heavy promotional work from Tag I am now fairly famous on the list so I will ask it again. Oh, actually it is a pretty shite question. Don't worry people! Anyway, hmm.....tough question my friend. To be perfectly honest I can not imagine anyone covering a Belle and Sebastian song with any degree of success. I think my answer gives us all a happy reminder that Belle and Sebastian are just a fantastically brilliant band. Peace People Northy > Who in the world would you like to cover a B&S song ? Hello sinisters, I'm drowning in all this sudden beauty. It makes me want to listen to Nine Inch Nails (pretty hate machine was ahead of its time, erm). Ok, the duke wrote a load of stuff slagging off the person who said he was talking crap cos the Manics named themselves after...bla bla bla... Yes Ok that would be me ages ago. And I didn't *mean* the Duke was literally being shite, it was just cos I felt incredulous, becaue everything else I had read had said something to the contrary. Funnily enough wjen it comes to a lot of bands, I DO believe what I read in the music press because WHO ELSE AM I TO BELIEVE? They are the only other people who let me know these things. Would it be preferred that I didn't even bother to do THAT to try and find out about a band I LOVE! Basically if I was taken wrong, its because, like why should i suddenyl turn on its head everything that I have seen everywhere else you know??? The person you described there is nothing at all like me and in fact what I hate, someone who has records but never cares or acts upon them. Yeah, so I have alienated myself from the fucking majority of people I know for this thing of Pop? Just *because?* Yeah, I write a fanzine, wackily enough because I CARE? So I don't know every perfect fact about every band about, sue me. I love what I find worthy to be lovd, no doubt now I am probably missing out on something fantastic. As is life. What I love, barely anyone seems to actually care about, and people who then go and imply that I am nothing just get on my nerves. Yes well we seem to be in a mood to let frustrations out, you know I can't scream out loud in peoples faces when I want to so perhaps ooh I don't know. Is this the first really pissed off mail I've sent? Quite sad aint it. And Duke I'll have you know that after we had the little talk about names I ALSO got really upset and pissed of, realising that everything I care about, could just be all an invented lie, untruth, and that again its something that as much as I like, i'd never be a part off. Perhaps we should avoid each other on chat :o) I'm not trying to personally slag the Duke, or any of you lot off here, you've got to get that but...oohhh, the people who care strongly perhaps will understand. Some won't be arsed. Heehee. I also just got an email from someone saying I was a bit manic and perhaps should relax. whoops! And I had a really good post planned too, till I read the last digest, about B&S videos. I was listening to Tigermilk and suddenly I had these marvellous ideas for videos just springing into my head, but if I can be arsed I'll leave them till a later date. Bye bye, I expect nobody actually arsed to read this, sorry Honey for being a moody git, but life consists of moods, ups and downs. On a nicer note, I liked Northys Spice Girls/Radiohead thingy, and am forwarding it to others. I'M GOING NOW BYE!!!!!!! (but will I be allowed back?) Sinister: to dream.....and other ramblings

I've had about three hours and a half hours sleep and i really shouldn't be awake right now, so forgive me these ramblings.... Firstly, who was it talking about Idlewild? I missed them at the Garage last night because SOMEONE (a big mean bouncer) had the genius-like idea of making all the people on the guest list queue for over an hour and letting eveyone else with tickets straight through. (Does anyone know if they were any good?) "Bollox, " me thought after only catching the last two minutes of their set. but all was not lost, Glitterbox were there to save my night - how danmed goood are they? they completely surpassed the headliners, Midget, the Geen-Day-esque rockers, who were alright. They best thing they did was a cover version of "Daydream Believer" ( aahh, sigh) which started off really quiet and then proceeded to burst your right ear-drum. But, me and my friends decided that they'ld get even better, just as soon as they hit puberty... the crowd was just mental - i mean one of the best/worst mosh pits (delete as applicable) i've ever seen in me life. i love watching the crowd-surfers' little antics, as almost a subplot to the main action on-stage. There was this one kid who after many foiled attempts to outwit these two big, mean bouncers, finally made it on to the stage: and for one proud moment of magnificence, stood victorious in front of the drum kit, surveying this swirming mass of sweaty bodies he'd just conquered and then gave this triumphant little shake of the fist. he glanced over his shoulder, saw the big bastard bouncer coming towards him, and with split second thinking, cheekily sky-dived back into the crowd before they could get to him. They were well pissed off. And here's another little personal anecdote which, with my usual skill for these things, has bugger all relevance. It's especially for you, Genevieve, just to make you squeal in jealousy, concernant Monsieur Crispine 'unt: One of my mad friends bumped into him at Chelmsford 96 and since the Longpigs happened to be her favourite band of all time, talked to him for a bit. After she said something, he looked down at her, took her hands, and then kissed them both... one, two, three, aaaah.... aah! what it is to be a young, mad, beautiful thing. I mean, he acts so damn sarcky, but y'know, if you could just pierce that, he is just a great big ole romantic teddy-bear. You jealous now Genevieve? Enough is enough, I'm listening to McCarthy today, I'd forgotten how good they were ... I feel inspired. I like the idea of people getting inspired by Belle and Sebastian, to write and move and do stuff instead of sitting back and digesting, expecting to be entertained, just saying 'oh, aren't they good' or 'this is pop!' isn't even good enough. This could be beautiful - we've got a whole load of people from around the world and it's a cause for celebration and doing something a bit more creative - and instead it's going stale. I know I'm rambling - I'm coming out of a period of being restless and now I feel like shaking someone awake. Let me know what you think, huh?
