I'm with you, TFertig3. Morrissey gets on my nerves. But I don't want to start any confrontations here. Actually, I have a question about how people percieve the Smiths in retrospect. Who is generally considered the genius behind that band? The singer/lyricist (a la Sting, for lack of a better example) or the guitarist (a la John Squire)? Sinister: first crush comp list

My system of crush tallying is very rudimentary. It involves writing down the names of people as they appear in posts and/or private messages, then putting little tick marks next to their names as people confess their love. I truly don't even really look at the author's name. Unless it's SOMEONE OTHER THAN ROD BEGBIE, which is a wee bit suspicious. All the grousing about American music has really got me down a bit. I do it more than anyone, but I was sitting there one day and it hit me, and see if you agree with me: Canadians have worse music than we do! Look at this list: Bryan Adams Alanis Morrissette Celine Dion Tom Cochran Otherwise, a nation full of scmaltz. It dawned on me as I was drving in my car the other day listening to the radio, then I heard a song that sounded like a cheesey advertising jingle for the lottery complete with studio sounding musicians going over and over "If I had a million dollars I'd buy your love..." It kept going on and on until I figured out "Hey, wait! This is an actual song!" I cringed my way through the rest of it and later discovered it was the Barenaked Ladies! They're Canadian! Nobody ever thinks of Canada when they talk about music, but I thought I would share this important public service announcement. p.s. Arab Strap is not that great.
