*---* HAPPY BIRTHDAY SINISTER BABIES *---* Goodnight sweet list, for I must take my leave. I will miss you all terribly, your words have too frequently offered cultural and emotional succor in a arid and frankly horrid office. Well, my job likes me about as much as I like it, so we have agreed to part, citing only "musical differences." Unfortunately in the ensuing custody battle I have lost the only product of our union that has brought me any joy - the computer, and hence the list. I'll still be checking in from the outside world from time to time, so any "good riddance to bad rubbish" and "where's my god-damned tape you conniving shyster?" ,messages will reach me eventually. Out of interest, so would any "keep your chin up, it's only a job" and "would you like to come back to London and live in Fitzrovia in my empty flat, and make a film about Jeffrey Bernard?" type messages. For my parting summary of matters listish, I would only like to comment on the fact that as much as I love that band that is sometimes mentioned, on the whole the list is at it's best, like all good writing, when it digresses. Please continue to waffle about French films and your holidays and poor train service - in it's way, it says more about B&S than three pages of notes on that flugelhorn solo. I hope to see some of you in the real world sometime. Oh, what am I saying, "real world" - this has at times been much better than that. P.P.S. if there's any news about West Coast dates, would someone remember to let me know? Although now I'm unemployed, maybe I'll come East....geography experts - which would be the nearest city? Sinister: A Little Something

*---* HAPPY BIRTHDAY SINISTER BABIES *---* Well hi all.. I've been on the list for a couple of months but until now have been yet to put in an appearance. I of course am a huge B+S fan, otherwise wouldn't be here. Unfortunately I'm not going to any of the gigs due to a lack of one near where I live and the fact that I'm skint but I'll be expecting comprehensive reports of them on this list. I have everything that's been released so far, and as for the new album I've heard a couple of tracks, my favourite being "It Could Have Been A Brilliant Career" which I can't stop singing to myself. I can't wait for the album, less than a week now! I'd just like to end this first short transmission with a mention for the Bluetones, or at least their first album, which is lovely stuff and shouldn't be lumped in with everything some of you consider to be second rate indie shite because they're not, or at least they weren't. Oh yeah, and I agree that Air and Kid Loco are fantastic as well, and I'd love someone to get in touch if they'd like to tape the Kid Loco album for me. Hang on, I keep thinking of new stuff....about converting people to B+S fans, I keep trying to do it too. Since my ex got me into them about 16 months ago I have converted several people, easiest being my current girlfriend who's French, who spotted their loveliness straight away. I have yet to convert a few more but I'm working on it. However we shall all be aided by the press from now on who seem finally to have leapt upon them with their collective praise at last a couple of years too late. How the NME could give "If You're Feeling Sinister" 4/10 (or was it 3) was totally beyond me...... Anyhow, bye for now.... *---* HAPPY BIRTHDAY SINISTER BABIES *---* I just got off the phone with the Trocadero in Philadelphia. Yes, I have three tickets to that show. But there is a correctiont that needs to be made. The show in Philly is on the 23rd not the 24th. Mudhoney are playing there on the 24th. An good band in their own right but think of all the disappointment if any of you were so looking forward to going to see B&S and saw Mudhoney instead. Anyway, next Tuesday is the day I have been awaiting for months. I work in a record store and cannot wait to get it in. Anyone from New Jersey that is into going to the shows e-mail me privately and maybe we can arrange plans.
