Has anyone heard B&S cover The Associate's 'Party Fears Two' from their wonderful album, Sulk? Perhpas a comprehensive list of songs B&S have covered would be in order. Also, can anyone give me a transcript of what Isobel says at the end of 'I Could be Dreaming'? It's been buggin' me. but I'm drunk tonight. Just listening to Tigermilk and the new Skip Spence tribute "More Oar" which I recommend to everyone on this list as well as the original new reissue on Sundazed. That's Alexander "Skip" Spence "Oar" ...so go out and get it. Interesting to hear that people will trust their candid naked bum shots to the local photo-mat. I prefer the Polaroid but rarely use it anymore which I know is a pity. "Tigermilk" has a cover which wouldn't be out of place on any of those chic-tongue-in-cheek perfume ads nowadays. Funny how all those ads showing a little nipple or whatever always show up in the women's magazines like Vogue, etc over the men's mags.. What gender puts those out really? I find many more risque pics in those over GQ etc... although I don't read those but have thumbed them at the occasional doctor or dentist office.... To get to my point, we have the LP in our record store window w/o a complaint for weeks. Maybe the world is changing? I'm rambling...the gin/juice is settling in.... So sorry to bug you listees with another Wilco message:) Have just bought "Summer teeth" on the nice advice of the kind listees who tolerated my non B&S message and wrote back, and as they say, it's FANTASTIC! Yes it does "revitalize rock and roll" with it's Beach Boys esque summery melodies- a scorcher! Ok here's a request but, now I would absolutely love to get my hands on the more "country" album of theirs, "Being There", but am WAY too poor to afford it. Don't bore us, get to the chorus, they say and so I shall. THIS IS NOT A MEDIA HYPE Issue: Blair Witch vs. Eyes Wide Shut. Poor Jim Schmidt took a hiding for some of his criticisms for the a/m films, but c'mon cut the guy some slack, eh? We're all in this together,homeez. IMHO the movies were both swell yet flawed, but some of the reviews y'all posted (esp for the Witch one) .....pppsh!! Kinda like "Go to the cinema and your life will be changed!!!" So what happens here, is everyone reading about how pants-wettingly brilliant the film is goes to the see it and inevitably says, "hmm, kind of a letdown, wasn't it?" Oh nevermind.. we shouldn't be talking about this anyway, it's truly "Summer of Sam" which is The Movie of Sinisterines, not because it covers standard list-related topics as drug orgies and serial killers, but because a main character in the film is a nouveau-punk W!H!O! - obsessee. He practices his windmills in sync to "won't get fooled again" in his Townsend-shrine of a bedroom, and in the somber and spooky tone common amongst cult members he breathily enthuses, "Baba O'Riley is my favorite song." And the most climactic scene is played out against a soundtrack of the W!H!O! You know what this means, don't you. Obviously, the clandestine media have once again infiltrated our ranks, coopting thread topics to recycle for use in their own little creative outlets... Spike, my brutha, shame on you! I DON'T WANT YOUR... PHOTOGRAPH Issue: Rude pictures Someone was trying to figure out where to get some piccies of their naughty bits developed. This problem was recently posed to the incomparable Dan Savage in his weekly syndicated column, and the info his research yielded went a little somethin like this... If you take them to a large chain-operation, like Walgreen's or Safeway, they are usually sent to an off-site facility and processed by a machine. Another human will probably never even see the pictures. The person who said this *did* mention that random security checks were done, but in general you're not likely to run into problems. On the other hand.... If you take your pics to a place specializing in developing, like a one-hour Photomat place, they are indeed inevitably seen by a person, so you're more likely to get caught. So while I cannot attest to the veracity of either of these tidbits of info, I'm passing it along for you to exercise your personal judgment. COFFEE AND TV Did i tell you that I heard "Sleep the Clock Around" playing in Starbucks a few weeks ago?? Chris Butler mentioned a Sinister Map of the World - methinks it's not a bad idea. It might become a veritable stalker's haven, but possibly a useful feature all the same for those that choose to use it :-) Oooh, I finally got around to getting Tigermilk - top stuff, but I was a bit miffed at the £15.99 price tag which I found stuck on every copy in every shop. From now on, I get my B&S CDs direct from the website (and I was hoping the CD would erase the memories of that icky Blur concert I went to so I could see dEUS. dEUS did a great set which it seemed the crowd didn't go for (I felt like I would have been beaten up if I moved to it), but the actual gig itself, it would appear, was a trauma so great that not even B&S can remove it from my mind. Argh!). Sinister: It Felt Like A Kiss

I was at Looper, umm, however many days ago they were in DC. I got there so early I parked right in front of the club, so I could sit there and make loud revving sounds after the show with my one cracked muffler. The opening band was wonderful... "Khanh"... very camp and dancey, and one of the Khanhboys stripped during the show, then sang "Fever"... not the Madonna one, either. I was so excited I was tempted to do the same, as I had during the Atari Teenage Riot show (I didn't sing during that show, though- just repulsed lots of angsty teens running through the pit naked in a pair of motorcycle boots). But as soon as Looper started, I crashed out on one of the benches at the back of the club, only to wake up with a gaggle of tightly-wrapped birds peering over and wondering if it was worth it for them to check my vitals. One of them was wearing this stunning black-and-plum number I would have died to have ripped off of her. Unfortunately, not. But I did catch the very last song Looper played, after SD-Boot-Rocka apologized for having no more songs to play. And it was beautiful! Just fucking beautiful! Shit. I wish I'd slept more the night before, now. Oh- and "Crackpot" is soooo much better than any movie John Waters ever directed, too. Particularly the chapter on why he loves Pia Zadora. Anyway. Off to see the Magnetic Fields, now. HOOOOO HOOOOOO. I'm not bloated, I'm swollen with love. No one I know who deserves to see them is in town, and as for my housemate and the two sorority sisters who are visiting her, I have three words: Hard Rock Cafe. Fuck them. Well. first off, the show was amazing. For openers, there was the Sigfried and Roy of the techno community. One of them, i think it was DJ Sigfried, hauled some poor girl on stage and made her dance. He was a scary man; in fact he stripped down to his nasty pants and danced around. thankfully he felt the need to put trousers back on. Then Looper played, which made up for the oddities of the opening act. The show was soooooo good, with the videos. Like steve c, i noticed the ink polaroid movie. Chris appeared to be wearing a stocking cap, right? and the tree branch hung close to the ground... was anyone else blown away by how good not-so-wee karn's statues were? She allegedly made all the little figures seen in the films.. i will never forget, as long as i live, the image of stuart wearing those light-goggles to read his lyrics! ahhh, if only i had taken pictures i have only two complaints, one minor and one that vexed me deeply. First, I didn't see any merchandise for sale. That was no good... i wanted to get a tshirt. but that's not a big deal. Secondly, NOT ONE sinister person came up and talked to me. It wouldn't have been hard, I was wearing a sign on my back that said "Sinister" and i was standing right up front, near the second TV from the left, about 3 people back. I was the tall fellow in the black Michael Bolton shirt with the beard looking pissed There was one other person dancing, and she kindly told me i knew what was up, since i was dancing. I saw a girl with short reddish hair in a blue shirt, who i think may have had an inverted badge, but I couldn't tell in the dark. I think she thought i was staring at her chest. So if you're on this list, sorry. I was just trying to figure out if you were sinister or not. I know i should have gone to the Fox and hounds first, but we got so lost on the way there we barely found the Black Cat. I had to pay a bum 30 cents for advice on whether or not i could park up the street. Maybe it's not so clever to put up photos of yourself where anyone can see them (no offense, Erica, I'm just saying). Some of you might say I'm a bit hypocritical there, since I've just sent my photo in, but I don't have to worry about anyone gawping at it. Anyhow, don't put your cross against Erica's name until I've got my mate Natalie on the list. Then you'll realise Erica isn't that great after all :-) Three more quick things: RE:Alpha ready lizard PeePees (Stephen Heister) I can't find a short qoute that seems right, so I'll just re-explain the gist of it briefly: Stephen whistle B&S as he goes around hoping that someone will recognise is and rush up to him, so happy to have found another B&S fan. I do that in school too, Stephen.
