I shall now bore you all with a tale from my weekend....A very sinister Norwegian girl, and a mildly sinister English boy (me) actually met each other.....in Paris! How cool is that! We met out the back of Notre Dame. Only I was waiting outside the front. She had the sense to realise I might be a bit dim and thankfully looked there. So, I'm wearing my study at stow t-shirt for recognition, and she's wearing B&S badges. This proved fairly dangerous as I had to keep looking at girls chests to see if they were wearing badges. And I got a fair few nasty stares from hard looking Parisian blokes. So I put on my shades to disguise my leering, and looked ohsocool. Praps. Then we got really drunk together and shagged on the bank of the Seine. We never really - we did neither of them. 'Twas all very innocent. We just had a lovely time and ate nice food and drank nice wine and got very sweaty. Easy tiger - it was bloody warm ok, and we walked miles with backpacks on. I won't bother going into detail as, although it was fun, it wouldn't be fun to read. Oh, Summer Teeth/Being there......get both if you can. If not, I agree with Steve C. - go for Being There. Awesome. I saw them at Shepherds Bush after they released Being There, and they were the most aggressive, nasty band I've ever seen (as in towards the audience, not their music). Then I saw them there again after they released Summer Teeth, and they were really nice and the singer (name escapes me) apologised. Not to me personally of course. I'm sure I had something interesting to say. Nope. OK, I'll now get back to my lurking and see if it musters up some more votes... (tell me who you are!) SOOOOO, is there going to be any sort of a meet-up before or after the Looper show this Thursday in DC? i do believe that there should be, so let's get on the ball, people! someone come up with a brilliant idea and post it to the list and the rest of us can follow along with the plan blindly. hmm. ok, i saw the BLAIR witch project this weekend. it was scary! i left the theater trembling. its not like a cheesy effects-oriented horror movie where you have to suspend belief for the course of the film. it is all very realistic and frightening. and the way the three kids in it react to the situation is just great... exactly what i would do if i was being hunted in the woods.... smoke cigarettes, scream and curse, and cry a lot. during the last hour the theater felt so tense, i don't think anyone was even breathing. go watch it and then try to walk past a wooded area in the dark. I DARE YA! even the *big strong man* i went to see it with uttered a few strangled sounds during the scary parts, and afterwards said it was very very spooky!! i listened to Tigermilk all the way to the beach and back this weekend. it was loud and went along perfectly with the scenery....which was a lot of fields of corn, produce stands and blue-blue skies. and boats on the chesapeake bay, and some cows and a vineyard and other pastoral things. my favorite has always been I Don't Love Anyone but i also have join La Resistance and tell you that i love Electric Renaissance. does that rhyme? its pure muffled-droney goodness! lesleyjo mentioned a girl she knew guzzling malt liquor in a corn field. you know what? i have done that too. i think i was about 16 at the time. it was this big party thrown by *college-aged boys* at this old farm house. it was fun, but i soon learned that a variety of small and itchy bugs live in corn!! did you know this?!!! i was doing the hoochie koochie dance - itching everywhere!!! - for a week afterwards! UGH! i believe i should have turned this into an Urban Legend to keep other young and impressionable girls from going to parties with older boys in corn fields... and inevitably drinking too much cheap bad beer. hee hee hee. lesleyjo, speaking of, is coming to DC on THIS VERY WEDNESDAY! this is why we have to have some sort of a meet-up... to welcome the out of town sinisterine and show her what a cool group of studs and studettes the DC crew is. ... 70s BBC sit-com pilot set in a post-war English coastal town in which Ian Lavender struggles to look after his increasingly senile father, played with great sensitivity by Arthur Lowe. The tape's been long wiped of course, along with that Beatles/Stones episode of "Juke Box Jury" and all the Apollo 11 coverage. It must've been mad working at the Beeb in those days... "quick, we need a tape for the 2:30 Dulux/Novotel Handicap Stakes from Chepstow" - "Oh, use the one marked 'Nixon resignation speech' - just don't leave it running, there's some rare Andy Pandy footage at the end". Those of us who weren't damp in anticipation on Friday night at the PoCaff were certainly moist in other ways, as 3 times as many folks than was truly comfortable crammed into the basement to witness live pop action. As perspiration dripped from the walls, Tim H and his Visitor cohorts ripped through seven tales of Devonian desire and longing, sounding for all the world like they'd be written the week before, rather than a decade ago. The Lucksmiths were a blast of pine-scented air conditioning through a sodden cellar; on borrowed gear, they stole our hearts. Stopped wincing ? Good. Tapes (or MDs) are available of the above, but only to folks who can answer the following simple question: how did Stevie Trousers come by his nickname ? Please note that I haven't yet thought of a sufficiently abstruse answer to this, so you may all win. Or all lose. E-mail me privately with the subject heading 'Milk Pistol'. Blake E. It sounds too high-pitched to be a trouser-fly, unless those famous silver pants are of unusually flimsy construction in the groinal region. I'd venture it's a dress-zipper - the girl's getting ready for school after all. This is all rather reminiscent of when the Beatles bores got their hands on remastered Fab Four CDs in the late 80s - "ooh, you can hear Ringo's drum pedal squeak", "you can hear John's face screw up in disgust as Paul sings 'Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da'". More of it, I say. Not too thrilled with the vinyl "Tigermilk" though - my copy sounds a bit sibilant (stylus could be on the way out I guess), is pressed noticeably off-centre and comes in a slim cardboard sleeve with no appreciable spine. I was looking forward to owning the LP-as-artefact almost as much as the CD-as-music with this re-issue. Ho-hum. This week's edition of ThaiFacts has been postponed. Hiya,kids! I must be the only Sinisterine not owning a digital copy yet.Should I feel totally ashamed? I promise I will get one when my financial state improves , which it will be when my ex-landlord pays me back my deposit.There is some excuse too long and intimate to expose here, anyway, about why my Tigermilk (with the Radio 1 session on the B-side)tape is one of my most precious belongings and I will keep to listen to it no matter which glossy new CD comes to augmentate my collection.My tape won't go to therapy because of feeling ignored, I am a good mother, and if it stays overnight at Bill Wyman's mansion it will be conveniently told off. Probably nobody else in the list is so no-fashionable as to watch Channel 4 documentaries,so please don't take my comments too seriously. The landlord's topic has to be taken seriously, however.My current one does not allow me to put any poster on my bedroom's wall, allegedly because of the very recent painting, Blue Tack spoiling it...etc.But I need my TWATTYBUS one in front of me when going to bed.Chris Geddes is my spiritual leader, specially after seeing him getting rid of papparazzis and similar individuals during Bowlie days, and his ace DJ sessions.If I was a devote Iranian muslim, would I be allowed to put some Ayatollah Jomeini's portrait or not? I am sure I could appeal to some Human Rights court in that case, or my landlady would be too scared of being prosecuted in Rushdie's fashion and would smooth her rules. True story... I was sitting in my car melting from the blinding heat (because i am too poor to fix the air conditioner) in yucky cape cod traffic and i was blaring iyfs from my stereo to keep me alive. nobody was appreciating it very much but do i care? of course i do not. Then a lovely little old lady with a car full of pretty pretty flowers was next to me and she said "what radio station are you listening to?" and i said "oh. it's a cd" and she says "oh, it's very pretty." That made my day. I don't why but it did. And today i can't seem to find it which makes me very very sad. oh well there are more in the record store and i am going to see looper on tuesday. apparantly there are many boston listees so i hope i will see you all. i am bringing my good silly b&s convert friend so much fun should had. i will be wearing the brightest red pants you've ever seen so say Hell-o if you see me. I haven't posted in a while but i am in The Strangest mood. i had The Craziest dream EVER last night and to-night i cut off all my long locks. I can't stop playing with my hair, so light and bouncy, bouncy, bouncy. This is probably how all those young little flappers felt bobbing their hair for the first time. well, no, probably not. Now you know why i haven't posted in a while. Because i'm Boring and Crazy and that is not a good combination, no. And knowing is Half the battle. so now you'll just have steal my flag. so i listened to tigermilk proper for the first time last night as i was trying to go to sleep. i was hoping it would take me far away to a lovely fantasy land where i had no problems. i had lost it by 'she's losing it' and was silently crying into my pillow so i wouldn't wake up my friend sleeping next to me. why can't i have an artgirl or a crush on a waitress i don't know? why do i have to be deeply in love with a girl who can't be with me? can you teach someone that they're capable of loving or do they have to figure it out on their own? i know she's got the love in her, but she won't admit to herself or anyone else. i'm willing to try anything to shake it out of her. i just want to be allowed to love her and take care of her for the rest of our lives-to sit on the porch with my cats and her dog and the bunnies we talked about getting together. there were posts a while ago about dreaming that you were in love, but they were far from real as i noticed there wasn't much hurt in them. *sigh* oh, i just found the post by alisdair about his dream. that feeling in the pit of your stomach doesn't go away easily and it's even worse when accompanied by a heart that aches from being smashed into a million pieces. maybe a picture of genevieve's heaving prom bosoms would cheer me up... sorry for all the sulking. i did love tigermilk though, of course. i think iyfs is still my favorite, but tigermilk could take it's place very soon. it won't get proper stereo play until i get over the beauty of the new marine research album though. i'm head over heels for it and i keep picturing amelia dancing with her recorder and cathy looking stunning behind her keyboard. that cathy is quite a picture. i'm hoping that she and isobel can play nicely together and not fight for my dreams. isobel happens to pop up quite often, usually in a supporting role, but she blows me kisses a lot as i pass by her. i had all these things i've been wanting to post about and i can't remember them. thank you to all of you who sent me birthday wishes and offers of gifts. i promise i will write back to you soon. i dreamt that i ran into the duke last night at the sanrio store in san fransisco. he was wearing a gold cardboard crown. that's how i recognized him as the duke. i'm worried about honey. i heard that he's ill. is he ok? oh, another way this list is taking over my daily life...i keep thinking that i'm reading paula cullen booze explosion on everything. my mind is playing tricks. cocktail hour is starting so i'll go now. sorry that this post is lacking so much, but i had to tell someone about my heart. hope all of you are well. *alyssa marie* +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the reborn Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail "sinister(a)majordomo.net".
