I went to school with a George Dickie. He customised an old 60s Vespa, painting it gold with red, white and blue stripes and it had lots of mirrors and chrome and stuff on it. About two days after it was finished some unpleasant types set it on fire and it was completely destroyed. I think he was a glue sniffer. THIS IS STRANGE 'CAUSE MY FRIENDS MUM THOUGHT I WAS A GLUE SNIFFER 'CAUSE SHE SAW THE E'S I SENT HER DAUGHTER SHE CONFRONTED ME VIA E AND WE GOT ON REALLY WELL SHE STARTED SENDING 2 E'S A DAY SHE ASKED ME TO COME ROUND HER HOUSE FOR TEA AND CAKE I DID NOT GO 'CAUSE I'M SHY LIKE THAT SHE NO LONGER SENDS ME E'S AND THE DAUGHTER WENT FROSTY ON ME TOO AS SHE ASKED ME TO COME ROUND AS SHE WANTED TO COOK ME A STEAK THERE WAS SOMETHING ODD ABOUT THIS OFFER I DID NOT GO BUT I HAVE MADE IT UP TO HER SINCE I TRIED TO E THE MUM BUT NO RESPONCE IF I EVER MEET HER MUM IT WILL BE REALLY SCARY WHAT TO SAY??? Sinister: My Toronto

hello, I've been on this list for two years now and this is my first post... yay! I'm not sure what all this fuss is about regarding Toronto. It's a great city and I every time I've returned from a trip abroad, I see more and more reasons why I love living in this city. How many cities in North America can boast having 2 clubs that play lovely B&S tunes to dance to? It's really nice to be able to step out in my dancing boots on a Friday night knowing I will be able to wiggle to a few B&S tunes and maybe a Looper tune or two! Yes, some Torontonians seem a bit cold... but were mostly just shy... Anyways... I'm heading to the VOX this Friday and I was wondering if any fellow Toronto Sinisterites are interested in meeting up? This is a bit last minute... but what the hell. I'm hoping the good DJ will play something from Tigermilk this week... Oh.. yeah Hershal, I'm not sure what's going on next week yet, but I can a least point you towards the better venues and clubs around town. Just drop me a line! Sinister: french songs

"love," off of the american version of cincerama's "va va voom" is a wonderufl little ditty with a french spoken word intro for close to a minute at the beginning. it's a great album all together, and that tune's one of my favorites from it. interestingly, or maybe not, gene's "save me, i'm your's" was called "the french song" all throughout its development and demo...there's nothing french about it, but its one of my favorite songs. jeff buclkey's "je n'en connais pas las fin" is one of the most beuatiful things he ever recorded. the chorus is in french. my favorite word in french is "lunettes du solei." i can't remember who wanted to know this, the songs, notr my favorite french word, so its going to all y'all. be good. josh +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the reborn Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail "sinister(a)majordomo.net". I don't know where that subject appeared from. Just suddenly - WHAM!! - it was there. French singers On the house song on the beta band 3ep album, there is a french guy rapping. Also, on les domestiques album by the delgados, there is a french man talking. I have forgotten the name of the song. One of my friends once met the french guy at a gig. Also, another *good* (extreme sarcasm), and highly amusing french group is Manau.They are supposedly the french east 17. This also features french rapping. Someone I know bought this on holiday, while in france cause it was at no 1. pavement I think that it is on either th 19 or the 21 of november. I'm insure of how much it costs. m&s this is s&m backwards. coincedence? I don't think so I've got an interview for a job in m&s next week. I'll tell them that I can spend my days turning tables round. They won't mind. Only thing is, it's the foodhall bit. I don't consider myself a shelfstacker. b&s and bbc scotland this might just be my imagination, but on an advert on bbc scotland for their internat chat site, to talk to other scothish people, it had soundbites of people saying stuff like "Ah dinnae ken whu'll wun thu leeg this seesawn" and I'm almost certain that you can hear an old woman saying "I'm a fan of belle and sebastian". If anyone else has noticed this, could they confirm it. I think that I'm going out of my mind. who has been voting for me on the list crush? I've never even kissed a girl before, I didn't think that anyone liked me. please mail me privately. Sinister: Autour de Lucie

You should definitely give Autour de Lucie a try. The first album (Autour de Lucie) is a work of art, and the second one (I donŽt remember the name right now) is also lovely. Valerie, the singer, is for sure some kind of fallen angel and sometimes, she makes me think about Isobel... Stay Handsome, Charles Byron I've recently been on a french kick. I want to listen to anything that has people singing french on it. Which for me contains only the french song from Rushmore and Belle and Sebastian singing Poupee De Cire. Poupee De Son . So if anyone could tell me some good french artists I'd be eternally grateful. It's true, I was in a take a way on Friday night, ordering some food when a Derk Bogart type in a white suit was being rather loud. When a group of young hopefuls left he shouted, "yeah, piss off you fucking gay [INAUDIBLE]". Then he turned to me and said, "Oh sorry, I thought you were with them." "No" I politely replied, then realising what he meant, I just frowned. He then said "well, gay, wankers, their shoe laces so long, like their gonna flap away". I looked at my shoes - guess what!!! Anyway, I saw that girl again today. I haven't told you all about her but I'm doing it now. She looks a bit like Jo Ortan (That's that blue shaded girl giving milk to that little tiger. - I think her names Jo Ortan.) Anyway, she also has a kid, a little girl. Anyway, whilst waiting at the bus stop her darling sprog pointed at me in that way children do, using all fingers stretched out as far as they could go and said "Scruffy". Her mum just laughed :| I wont bore you with the why's and how's but getting off of a train station and waiting for my buss I saw a blind man tagging a lift with a non blind man. The non blind man was quite embarrassed and shot off as soon as the blind man reached the shelter. But the blind man didn't seem to mind being led into a glass wall. He also didn't mind being left with no "well, take care of your self" or "are you going to be okay". Anyway, the blind man - who I think I should mention was in a suit with brief case and umbrella - was having trouble getting on a bus. As you could imagine, he couldn't read the number. He eventually got onto I think the wrong bus but it was okay, the driver (I think) took pity and offered to go out of his way to get the man home, he also didn't have to pay. Moaning about other people is fine, but I never got up and asked what bus he was getting, I never helped to pick up his stick when he dropped it. I suppose I'm just as bad as all the other adults. Anyway, currently listening to Elephant Shoe by Arab Strap. Also purchased The Smiths's Strangeways here we come, The Housemartins's London 0 Hull 4 and something from a band called Raissa called Believer. I brought it because I liked the girl on the front cover. The songs are quite good also. Did anyone else see the Beta Band in Manchester on Tuesday? What did you think? Personally I thought they were seriously good. After publicly slating their own album upon release and during the gig (which I couldnt quite understand), I thought they would: 1. Re-arrange most, if not all, of their material 2. Play more stuff from the 3 EPs They didnt. A few were a bit more percussive and a few more upbeat but on the whole, not much different, so why slag the album if you dont intend to improve on it live? The visuals were cool, complete with a Cindy doll, fashioned after Bonnie Tyler, being beamed down for the song featuring the sample of Total Eclipse of the Heart! There was every kind of percussion you can imagine plus a few you cant (I saw all my presents for the next few Christmas and birthdays for the foreseeable future on display). The band regularly swapped instruments with everyone taking it in turn to play one of two drum kits, decks, sequencers, keys, trumpet, steel drums, etc etc. Top. Anyway, go see em if you get chance. Id really appreciate it if you could get us in touch with that guy from Action Records/The Warehouse.
