Good day, What?s all this nonsense I read about B&S?s contribution not being on the new Help CD when it comes out? It will be "considered" for a future EP release, they say. I say: Don?t consider it. Do it. Could Sinister revive an old tradition and put some pressure on in some way? So I've not e-mailed this list for a while, but I now live in a completely new city, and am feeling adrift, and sometimes feel like a cog in a machine or like the only living boy in New Cross (well, I don't live in New Cross actually....or am a boy...oh, sod it, that's the last time I reference Carter USM..) So the day after London blows up I find out that I've been offered a job in London, one that's tangientally connected with the crazy world of Teletext. I have nowhere to live, few friends left in Mancland and had just been for an interview at a dodgy accountancy college where I was asked only about my A-Levels and whether I liked Rod Stewart. Oh, I love Manchester, but like a childhood sweetheart sometimes you need to move on to keep your fond memories. A train trip and two 'borrowed' luggage trollies later, I MOVED TO LONDON. And now I'm here...well. Still not used to it really. The first sunny month passed in a blur of bright bus journeys soundtracked by Spearmint and Maximo Park, a dalliance with an Aussie biker and being courted by a vicar's son (I turned him down after realising that I could never love a man who only listened to comedy records), conversations about bad pop videos and non-league football, and wondering how to make friends without people running away in fear. It's hard, but I'm hoping it'll turn out to be the best thing.... ....but how strange to be living somewhere that I'd never even visited until I was 16 - that for years lived only in songs and films and books? I remember listening to Blur's 'For Tomorrow' and not knowing what 'but we're lost on the Westway' meant. Two days after coming here I was sat on a bus going down it. (I hope this email works because I put all sorts of Tabs and stuff in it to make it look pretty) Alright Guys, YOU WANT PICNIC?? YEAH?? WELL YOU HAVE ONE. (unless it rains, then it's to the pub we go) Okay guys, after the tremendously successful voting process, I am pleased to announce that we are going to be sensible and go attempt to picnic at a green area nearish the Barbican. This place will be FINSBURY CIRCUS. Woo! It's not quite as grand as a proper park, but it's green and close to the action later. Plus it has a BOWLING GREEN (except I don't think we will be using that) and it was described as one of the most beautiful of London's squares by Alfred Smee who saved it from devastation in 1862 by the railway company. So yay. Okay, this is THE PLAN ====================== 1. Location, Date/Time 2. Travel Information 3. Itinerary 4. Weather Forecast/Contingency Plan 5. Useful Contacts 6. External Links 7. "I don't have a ticket to see the gig?" 1. Location: Finsbury Circus (see bottom of email for map) Date/Time: 2:30pm 25th Sept, 2005 2. Travel Information: Finsbury Circus is located in the City, nearest tube stations are Liverpool Street and Moorgate. Those who are travelling by Tube, be aware that the Northern Line bank branch (where Moorgate is) will be closed on Sunday south-bound. So try and get to Liverpool Street station if possible! Otherwise you'll need to go to somewhere south and head back north, which is lame! 3. Itinerary 2:15pm: Meet up at Liverpool St. station for those who like to meet up first so not to be lost, then head to... 2:30pm: Finsbury Circus to drink booze and stuff. I don't know how many, if there are any shops that will be around and open 5:00pm: The park closes so we'll head to a pub! I've done a bit of research, and the research shows that there is only ONE pub that opens within a mile radius (I phoned up every single one!!) - luckily it's one right by the Barbican, called The King's Head. 7:00pm: (and onwards) Head to the Barbican, those who really like BROADCAST (the support band) might want to head there early doors, those who don't may want to stay in the pub for longer! The ATP website says doors open 7pm. Barbican itself says 8pm. I don't actually have a ticket in my hand yet so I can't really say which is correct! 4. Weather Forecast/Contingency Plan The BBC website is saying that it is probably going to rain! (Two drops of rain under a cloud, with a sun on top) So, if it does rain the plan basically goes straight to the PUB (i.e. the King's Head. At 2:30pm) 5. Useful Contacts Erm. Me! Sinister: Waiting for dead baboons to rise (25th SEPT PICNIC OPTIONS - YOU DECIDE)

Hello There! Just wanted to write and let you guys know that I hadn't gone and got married during the day between now and the last time I wrote! PICNIC???? ---------- So picanicker! So many responses and ideas! To summerise the findings so far... 1. The Barbican area in general is kind of rubbish for booze and stuff 2. BBC reckons it's gonna drizzle a bit, but you never know! 3. Possible locations for picnic i) Finsbury Circus (near Moorgate station) ii) St Paul's Churchyard (near.. St Paul's station) iii) Primrose Hill (near Chalk Farm station) iv) Regents Park (the non hilly bit. near Regents Park/Great Portland St. stations) v) Other Places More on the options.. i) ii) Finsbury Circus and St Paul's are excellent for locations as they're close-ish to Barbican. Only problem being it's a Sunday and should it rain we might be stuck without a pub around! Oh noes. iii) Primrose Hill has tradition behind it, but not so convenient for the Barbican (no southbound tube service on Sunday between Camden Town and Bank!!). Although, as a possible incentive, I found that this is where APPARENTLY some of the B0WLIE folks are going to be hanging out that day, so if we go there we might get to compare penis/vagina sizes with them! Fun. Plus, SPREAD EAGLE. iv) The lower bit of Regents Park is nice and there are pubs around that open should it rain. It's one tube from Great Portland Street stn to Barbican, which may be a bonus! VOTE FOR YOUR RIGHT TO PARTY ============================ So! If all of you email me where you'd most like to go of the above, I'll collect the information and send out a FINIALISED PLAN tomorrow, at 2pm! Wow, I'm so organised, like some kind of growed up business person. I wonder if there'll be enough people coming to warrant bringing a FOOTBALL. See you all very soon! Sinister: All Hail Tony Jaa!!!

Alrighty Folks! First off, congrats to all the peeps who have recently married and to those of you who are headin' to the Barbican gig. The full Sinister album live will be nothing short of spectacular. Definitely my fav B&S album. And thats about it for the content if you could even call it that. What I want to know is if any of you have had the absolutely fantabulous pleasure of seeing the movie OngBak starring Tony Jaa(Panom Yeerum)? I think its been out since 2003 but I only managed to get my hands on it a few months back. The region2 dvd was released this week. I'm 110% convinced that this guy is the Second Coming. Yeah OK. Jesus could walk on water and cure terrible diseases but had he mastered the art of Muay Thai? I think not. The movie is a martial arts extravaganza. He also does all his own stunts and there's no wires or cgi. I cant stop watching this movie or even talking about it. If you're a fan of martial arts movies then this will blow you away and even if you're not you should buy the dvd, watch it on mute whilst listening to your b&s albums. You wont be disappointed. And whats even better is his new movie, Tom Yum Goong, is expected to be released on dvd(region3 me thinks) 1 November. From the trailers this is lookin even better than OngBak and im finding it hard even contemplating the possibility of this. There's seemingly a 4 minute un-edited fight scene in the new movie as well which makes my nipples stand on end to even think about. If anyone has actually managed to see this movie then please feel free to let me know your thoughts and comments. [insert long rambling bagpuss parody with Stuart Gardiner as Gabriel the toad probably, ending with "...but loulu loved her"] ello babies I'm sure there must be some sort of decent BOUZER in the barbican vicinity for Sunday afternoon pre-gig jollity, but frankly one isn't springing to mind, I'm assuming that one out the back (if it's open on a Sunday) will be stowed out and, frankly it's a bit rub anyway. We may have to head to clerkenwell, where at least there are some nice pubs (it is a wasteland for green spaces though, lincoln's inn field is about the closest and it's aaages away). I'm sure something will sort itself out though. We could always have a picnic by the fountains in the barbie itself, but I don't think they're too keen on having gangs of vagrants (even lovely ones like YOU) hanging about not buying their food and drink... I also understand the Kitchenettes are having some sort of gathering, maybe we should engineer some sort of jets/sharks situation on the barbican patio and have AN DANCE OFF! Anyway, from Another Place (well from pitchfork originally, not that I read it you understand, but hey, PH34R my content): Fresh from contributing their song "The Eighth Station of the Cross Kebab House" to the Help: A Day in the Life benefit compilation, Belle and Sebastian have let slip even more details about their forthcoming album. As we previously reported, the disc will be titled The Goalkeeper's Revenge, and will feature such songs as "A White Collared Boy", "Act of the Apostle Part I", "Another Sunny Day", "Funny Little Frog", "Song For Sunshine", and "Sukie in the Graveyard". FUNNY LITTLE FROG???? This better be some sort of balls out rocker and not the twee nursery rhyme the title suggests or I fear it may rival TEH CLUNKER... I got married, but then that was six years ago and only a month or so after I first joined the list, so I reckon most of you knew that anyhoo. However, I haven't seen mention of the wedding of Nickie Byrne, extremely late of this parish, which I attended in Dublin a month or so ago. Dicky Knee, also very late of this parish, was the best man and a lovely time was had by all, and it's good to see (possibly only in a very specific millieu admittedly) that TWATTYBUS (the song) is now actual wedding disco music, hurrah! Despite having been a commited badge-wearer for donkey's years, I recently have been badge-free (which considering the number of so-called young persons one sees covered in badges these days one can only assume they haf left the fashion wilderness just as I can't be botherd with them anymore, typical), EXCEPT for my upside-down bowlie kid badge on my hat what I wear at festivals. I think it better make a comeback for Sunday though, if only so people can say "have you still got that disgusting rusted thing? Also why is it upside-down?" Looking through the list of those of you who have delurked over the past month it is disturbing/delightful how many of you I have met, and each delurk has been met with an "blimey, it's [x]." actually this goes for all of you I haven't met too (yes, YOU). Hmmm, not the best of sentences, there. So, erm, I don't recall reading too much about the BARBICAN gig on this bitch (I know this, for sure, because I did an "ADVANCED FIND" on my sinister email folder and it only came back with 7 answers - Yes I'm so smart and tech-savvy!) ARE YOU GUYS COMING? ARE YOU EXCITED? I remember I was soooooo excited in 2001 when B+S were playing two days in a row at the Barralands in Glasgow. First B+S gig it bloody was. I'm actually really excited about this IYFS all the way through bonanza! I love that album and I like how it's ordered. I like how albums are ordered. I was similarly excited once at the Somerset House show last summer, when they did The State I'm In, Expectation, She's Losing It, and then You're Just A Baby and I was like OH MY GOD THIS ROCKS. But then there was no Electronic Renaissance. I'm glad that it was played in Perth. I hope this means they will also play this at the barbican thing. And new songs from the new album! Is there a support band for this gig? Haha, I'm so excited I didn't even check! I hope it's someone good. Like Terrorvision or something. HERE COMES THE SCIENCE BIT!
