this is my
my goodbye
to blue eyed sinisterines
i've got to go to news only. this is getting a bit much. it's been fun.
thanks for all those people who have turned me on to a lot of new bands
(trembling blue stars, go betweens, the sarah stuff, etc.)
i'll leave you all with a couple of facts i've always been scared to
admit.
1. unlike tag, begbie has rocked me from the backside, shafted me up the
ass, took the 7:00 to browntown, tamed my manpussy, however you want to
refer to it. and not only does he pitch, he also catches, if you get my
drift.
2. the song that makes me cry is "the man in the mirror" by michael
jackson
3. according to that sleaze quiz, i'll see some of you in hell. i'll be
the one in the t-shirt that says "official bikini inspector"
goodbye all.

You don't mention California and United Kingdom, which are every bit as
good as Everclear. I agree that in Engine they were only just getting
it together, while in San Francisco they were falling apart (though
there are good things on both). But Mercury is underrated I think. The
opening bars of I've Been A Mess would be enough to justify it alone:
Lazarus wasn't grateful
For his second wind
For another chance to see his chances
>Fade like the dawn....
as would the mere title of What Godzilla Said To God When His Name
Wasn't Found In The Book Of Life (of which song there is however a far
better version - under the title Nothing Can Bring Me Down - on Mark
Eitzel's live solo album Songs Of Love, which is admittedly a bit rough
for some tastes - he is constantly apologising for the bum notes and
"always fucking this part up". Comes across as a very sweet human
being, difficult to be with).
Anyone who doesn't know AMC and is interested might try California or
Everclear first...

Not often prone to writing things about Belle and Sebastian here but yes
"Sleep the Clock Around" (or "Slap my cock around" which I'm prone to
calling it) is one of my favourite songs.I only hope the final recorded
version comes out as brilliant as the session, as I don't believe I can say
that for Dylan in the Movies.
I think probably what it misses the most however is some extended guitar
workout at the end, a bit of tapping, artificial harmonics and perhaps some
whammy bar work too.
Cheers,
Keith.

Oh that'll be Lisa Rogan then, I've got friends who work in the lighting
department of BHS and indeed who like Belle and Sebastian.

Hello all,
I'm unsubscribing from the list as I'm leaving university until
September, but I thought that these may be of some use to someone.
They differ from the ones on the sinister site, but to my ears they
sound a bit closer to the records. Failing that, they're also a bit
easier to play.
The chords are w/ respect to a capoed guitar.

I apologise to the non-guitar players on the list, but I'm going now
anyway.
I'd just like to thank the entire list membership for cheering me up
in a dull year. Thankyou.
Bye till September,
Stoo.
P.S Is Stuart David his full name, or his first & middle? I'm interested
'cause I'm a Stuart David too.

Hello friends,
I've been thinking about this a bit. I don't particularly like to listen
to sad songs because I'm an optimistic person, but these few are bound
to bring in the ship of melancholia.
Stina Nordenstam-"Goodbye"
Television Personalities-"Stop And Smell The Roses"
These last two were constantly in my head when a friend of mine killed
himself a couple of years ago:
The Kinks-"There's Too Much On My Mind"
Neil Young-"Don't Cry No Tears"
from his wonderful album _Zuma_ that said friend introduced
me to. Now I have his copy as a memento.
I'm getting choked up
Aadam

this passage practically could have been written by me...though
unfortunately I missed out on the muffins and tea bit <sigh>
More sad songs before this topic is completely exhausted:
tom waits-november (the sentiment of my life here in new england)
tori amos-hey jupiter
the cure-apart
rem-camera
morrissey-late night, maudlin street
and -i'm confessing my love of cyndi lauper here- true colors isn't
necessarily sad, but it makes me teary

errrr.. if i had an angel, i would hope that she would come down to help me
even if i *didn't* send this message to 10 teens.. "or else".. pish, i don't
want an angel who gives me ultimatums!
oh, and since sad songs is such a hot topic these days.. the song "behind
the garage" by erics trip always makes me sad (does anyone know/like that
song?) and just the other day i was listening to b&s on the porch and the lines,
"you're worth the trouble and you're worth the pain
you're worth the worry, i would do the same..."
made me quite teary.. *sniff*

oh, and #sinister is just so much fun! when there are a lot of people
everything goes by at a dizzying rate, but that's what adds to the
excitement...since we can't get to all the picnics around the world, it's
nice to put realtime text to people on the list...
ummmm, it's rainy and grey and cold, but hey - it's spring!!
see you later...

All the sad songs make me happy
Cus I smile when I shouldn't
And I've never learnt to cry
Cus I'm a hard bastad at heart
There are lots of songs that make me smile in 'that way' that says less
than tears should, and they all, well nearly all, are on a tape that my
dear father gave to me when I was three, or nearly four, I can't
remember. But I've lost the tape for many years, I'd love to have it
back, but I suppose I'll never see it, oh never mind.
A lot of them were on the White album; Mother natures son, Blackbird,
Julia, I will, Goodnight. And also a few other Beatles songs, the
saddest one of all has to be 'In my life'. It may well be my favourite
song of all time, but whenever people ask me what my favourite song is I
always forget that one, and I say something else that's no way near as
good...
...oh well, bye now. xxx
