Firstly, apologies for my previous post; I didn't mean to upset the list
karma. Must remember to think of Cliff next time...
Secondly....When I was little, my godparents used to give me 'anti
colouring books'. I think they were Canadian in origin (the books not my
godparents, who came from Wragby). The idea was that rather than
constraining young children's fertile imaginations by making them colour
within the lines, they presented you with a blankish sheet of paper and a
suggestion (like 'You have just eaten your dinner. What does it look like
now?' and the outline of a stomach) and you filled it in as you so
desired. This seems like a good idea; however, I was so cack handed with a
pencil (still am) that I used to prefer ordinary colouring books,
where there was a small chance of your picture looking like whatever it
was meant to represent. So, perhaps the next but one competition could be
along the lines of 'B&S are buying wallpaper . What kind of wallpaper does
each member buy?', accompanied by a little picture of each band member
in front of a piece of wall just waiting to be papered...
Meanwhile, I'm sharpening my coloured pencils.

Double standards maybe? <
<sigh> let's everyone kiss and make up and stop making wee nasty remarks to
each other (not that i'm saying this <above> is nasty, but, well, er,
youknoworrameanlike?)
aaaaaargh, i dunno... it's hard to always write about B&S related things,
especially as they aren't up to much (publicly) at the moment. Anyway, I
like dirty jokes and stuff. It's good. Much better than that Catatonia list
anyway. I subscribed to lurk after Northy's comments and, well, it's pish,
really. They really DO only talk about band related stuff and it's really
boring and there's only about 3 e-mails a day. Still lurking, Susannah?
What do you think?
Ah, well...it's still raining lots but i think i'm gonna go in to town
anyway, but I'd better hurry cos there's only a bus every 2-3 hours from
where I live. Bah!
I'm wearing a B&S t-shirt. Yay! Now, where's my brolly...
Anyhoo...
love and love and love and love...

PS: Lauren Lavern was on 'Buzzcocks last night! Hooray! She's a fancy
piece...someone from B&S should go on. They could all go on and then none
of the other crap guests could get in...

but to do one i need a bit of help.
the new compo will be an international colouring competition :)
but i need something to put on the web that people can download,
print and colour. so if you're ok at drawing, could you try and pen a
simple black line picture of belle and sebastian in a park, or something
like that.
if you send them to me at the address's below (snail mail for paper
and e-mail for .gif's) and i'll decide which one we'll use.
bear in mind that all pictures have to be simple so that they can be
scanned well, look ok on the net and most importantly, that it prints
well on a black and white printer - plus people have to have space to
colour it in.
if you're up for it and i receive some good pictures we'll start the
compo when i've got the drawing ready for the net.
whoever sends in the picture that gets used will also receive a small
something for their efforts.
thanks
david kitchen

Yeah, yeah, so do I, so do I (well at least some of them). Maybe I
overreacted by a few per cent - Honey tells me Susannah is a nice person
and a good laugh, which covers a multitude of sins. Read in that light
her message is a bit different.
I suppose the only point I'm trying to make is this - not that we
shouldn't have jokes about sex and stuff, just that the best way of
dealing with sexual/moral fascism isn't to consciously rebel against it
and feel vaguely guilty by using words like dirty etc, but just to
ignore it and get on with the fun.
Anyway, I scored 138.

Why has no-one mentioned PlayAway?? With the God like stature of
Brian Cant (now to be heard over dubbing a cartoon for Lee & Herring).
And don't forget that these were the days when Grange Hill was brilliant
and even Blue Peter was quite good... and for those really young at
heart is it the round window, the square window....?
Good to see Cinema Paradiso being mentioned as that is my FAVOURITE
film of all time... but what about Mediteraneo, the Hairdressers
Husband (that'll make even non-soppy men get moist eyes), Betty Blue
(ignore the student hype, its a wonderful film) ... the list, obviously,
goes on but finally I'd like to mention Solaris - by far the greatest
SciFi film ever made (and in Communist USSR too!)
Bye for Now, Ev (pretty new list member (but 'oldish' B&S fan)

Yay! Playschool! Sorry, but I found an old Betamax video with this on it
the other day (and He-Man, and Thundercats!) They were wearing eggbox lids
on their faces and pretending to be in "an octopus' garden, under the sea"
Oh dear. I'm too old to still love these programmes. Tragic.

I went to see Glen Michael's Cavalcade live, y'know...was this programme
broadcast in England? Probably not. I've still got his autograph somewhere,
I think...
Someone mentioned 'Gregory's Girl'... Omigod, I love this film! Yeah,
you're right, it is very B&S...I can just imagine sebastian and isobelle
lying on the grass, dancing and clinging on incase they fall of the world
as it's spinning...
Yes, I know what you're thinking...I should get out more. But it's raining
outside and I'll get wet if I go out. Anyway, I love the sound of rain
beating off the windows <sigh>
love always,
Debbie xxx.

There are loads of HMVs here in Canada. I'm sorry, but i must ask who
the canadians are on the list. You all talk about picnics and get
togethers and i just feel so lonely :( (you'll notice no sarcastic tears
this time ;) Speaking of lonely and weird, i was sitting in math class
today, listening to IYFS and pretending to do work. It was strange
because i had my earphones up as high as they would go, but i couldn't
drown out the rap and punk music that me classmates were so intent on
filling the air with. I felt like i was in a little bubble, everyone
had their hats on sideways (if they had hats, which none of them did)
and were sitting on their desks, then there was me with my lovely, if
slightly busted discman and this nice, quiet B&S cd trying to battle
with the noise outside of it. I felt like they would notice at any
minute that i was an imposter and make me leave, back to the land of my
kind. That's why I'm so jealous of jon g and Bethey, I want to be you,
its so cute how you have eachother. Because i picture the people around
you to be quite like the ones around me, but that doesn't matter because
you have another you. ;) Can i make a movie about you? you'll like it,
i think. I have it all thought out, well, the first minute or so. The
only problem is that i picture you as being each about 4 feet tall
because everyone says "yes, they're 15, so young and tiny, sitting there
cross-legged on the floor," but then i think hey, i'm 15 too and i'm not
all that small so why must you be?
This is getting quite ridiculous, so i'll stop here. But what do you
think about my movie? I'll send you a screen play soon.
You must think i'm strange, posting such nonsense when no one really
knows who i am. But...well there's not really a but, that was actually
it.

Oh!
Oh!
Oh! I had forgotten all about Finger Mouse. Oh! (jong basks in it's
memory)
I went to see Button Moon live, you know. It was pretty scary, I must say.
It was all dark and there was nothing but these puppets made out of buckets
and milk-bottle-tops danscing around. I was only three.
I think we're going to have to have our own separate list for kids tv
discussions.
I think I'll have to put something on my website as well.
