Hi all!
got a question. Does anybody know if The High, The La's, East River Pipe,
Another Sunny Day or Brian still exist? I use to love these bands so much and
there CDs are waiting for little brothers now... I know, it's such a long time
ago... but I'm still waiting for them, like I'm still waiting for a new My
Bloody Valentine release. Yeap, hope makes me live.
By the way, there's no shame to listen to Menswe@r, Gene or Shed Seven. I mean,
they are not my favorite bands, but it's OK to listen to them from time to time.
Just think about people who listen to Celine Dion...
And to add some book references to the list:
Bret Easton Ellis: "American Psycho"
Malcolm Lowry: "Under the Volcano", "Lunar Caustic"
James Joyce: "Ulysse"
Michel Tournier: "Les Meteores" (don't know if it's available in English)
Franz Kafka: everything
Time to go now!

I remember going to a club at the Music Box (or whatever it may have been
called at the time) in Edinburgh once-upon-a-time, and Menswear were there.
They had been at the Venue I think. Anyway, knowing my wee sister had been to
see them (and was a huge fan at the time) I 'phoned her to let her know.
She was well chuffed, but didn't want to come out 'cause she wouldn't know
what to say, so she asked me to get something signed. It was unbelievably
embarrassing. Got me t-shirt signed by them all. I was completely twatted at
the time (honest).
I seem to remember going up to everyone (Keith included, I think), pointing at
my chest and grinning. I WAS JUST CHUFFED AT GETTING THE GOODS FOR MY WEE
SISTER, OKAY?!?!?
Just to clear that up.
I'm off to die of shame now.

Yatingee! One and all.
"BOOKS" ---Anything by Tom Robinson, he is a genius.
---The two Dice Man books, by Luke Rhinehart, bibles.
---The Titus Groan trilogy, by Mervin Peake.
"Country"
In return for flooding country orientated stuff to the list, I will seek
to flood countrymusic lists with all things B&S. That seems balanced.
Thankyou all for reccomendations, my Student loan just came through so
come Thursday and I'll start buying up your kindhearted suggestions.
Keep all mustbuystufflists coming!
Ta.v.much.
"Downer"
I still don't know if I passed anything. Every week I see my maths tutor
to remind him about sorting me out with a grade. Every week he says
fuck, fuck, fuck, mumble mumble stupid dickheads. THis man is in his
late 50's. Where did he learn sutch filth? Hopefully I'll have a grade
soon.
"B&S" -------------------well it's only fair-------------------
I'd just like to say thankyou to the band, since I bought the LP I've
played it every day for weeks and weeks. I've not looked back yet.
"Miscalaneious"
Has anyone heard snakebitelove by Moterhead? It's almost Spinal Tap. No
wait, it IS.
Is it me, or is early Spring the best time for LoFi?
Eegnitay!
I'm as happy as a watermelon in easter hay, Joe.

I should know these things. I'm 28 bloody years old. But than, I am
American. Should I even be using these words?
Could someone define 'cack' for me please?

Hi Listies
Well, I'm sorry to say that this message contains no B+S info. at all.
But please keep reading anyway. Y'see, I'm coming to London in a week
for an indefinite period of time and i was just wondering if anyone
could recommend places to go out, people to meet, even areas of the city
where queer white trash like me could wander around without getting his
head kicked in...oh, and any record stores (except Rough Trade since
I've heard of that one)especially 2nd hand....and if there's a picnic or
something happening (I've gathered that this is something you kids like
to do(?) I'd love to go...the prospect of going over there from sleepy
Brisbane (Australia) is a little daunting, but immensely
exciting...Personally i can't wait.
Please feel free to email me personally as i am quitting the list, since
i won't have regular computer access to wade through the mail i get from
this and other lists.
All replies would be muchly appreciated.
Thankyou for yr. time
love Michael xx

Hi peeps,
Hmmm. I don't know whether I'm new or not... I used to post when the
list was first set up, so I suppose a couple of people might remember
me. I stopped when people got *too* upset about off-topic stuff,
because, I might as well warn you now, I'm very bad at staying on topic.
But I kept reading the digests (well, occasionally) and now I'm back
because you lot are just too damn interesting not to reply to.
Or something.
>There has been much discussion about the BMX Bandits in
>the recent past (perhaps someone from B&S has some connection?).
No-one seems to have mentioned yet (as I said, I'm on the digest - I
tend to get a little behind) that Douglas from the BMXs compered the
Longest Day festivally thing with B&S, V-twin etc last summer...my bmx
bandits knowledge though is limited to a copy of a single...i can't even
remember what the single is but it's got That Summer Feeling on it, I
think. I quite like it, but not enough to go out and look for any more
of their stuff.

Yay! They are great, aren't they? Though I was a bit upset when I
discovered that Give him a Great Big Kiss was a cover. Still, its better
than the original, so that's ok...
but then he said (about the Bluetones):
>Saw them live at T in the Park in '96, and your
>blokes voice was TERRIBLE.
which is a *bad* thing, because it means he wasn't watching the Divine
Comedy, which is what he should have been doing at that time.
>The Gigolo
>aunts were never particularly good, but just straight-forward power pop
>youd be likely to hear in the early 90's. For lack of knowing better, >I always thought they were great.
They did "Where I Find My Heaven", the theme to Game On (which doesn't
stop it being a great tune...), its on Shine something. Shine 2, I
think.
Just to catch up..
Book Recommendations: Anything by AS Byatt.
Verdict on Menswear: Quite good, really. "Stardust" popped up in a pub
quiz i was at the other week too....
Porn Star name: Smudge Oliver (er....)
thats it...
love and stuff
