Hi, to everyone who was at the quiz at John Snow last week.
I was in the well named team Møkings Fiskebolle, and we lost. BUT at the
tube on our way home we found out that we were cheated for 6 points...not
that it really would have mattered, we were shite anyway..But to the ones
there, I just wanted to let you know that we weren't that shite...!
I didn't know that it was supposed to be a Sinister thing, so hello to all
the people that I didn't get to si hi to!
Elisabeth
>From Norway, not Sweden...Hi Katrina!

Went to the thirteenth note last night with Tag+friend. Was very good apart
from the first three bands, Belle and Sebastian played a short but sweet
covers set, songs by Curtis Mayfield (Stevie sang), Orange Juice (Isobel
sang), Beck (Richard sang), can't remember the name of the fourth one, Tag
knows, I could only recognise the tune (Sung by Stuart and Stevie) and Jesus
and Mary Chain sung by Sarah and Chris.
Was very nice indeed, enjoyable on the whole and my car didn't break
down on the way back to Edinburgh.
to recap
The Starlets : boring, but nonetheless young, so have an excuse
Eugenius : Tedious
The Pastels : Woeful (Tag enjoyed it, so did my mate Mark, but the crowd
were essentially bored. There was even a heckler!)
Belle and Sebastian : Good, but covers, so hard to say really - was
enjoyable
Cheers,
Keith.

I too once (in high school) fell in love with the music of the mighty 'zep. I enjoyed it at the time. Further, I would contend that their early music is very reputable even on a critical standpoint. Did you know that Kenny Pickett (from the Creation) was their roadie? Robert Plant attended a Divine Comedy show in New York and I didn't even recognize him (I was too busy acting like a fool in front of Harvey Williams).
It (led zep) was a bit misogynist. But the band was influenced by a lot of misogynist music.
Did you also know that Stuart M used to listen to a lot of Yes (probably less reputable than early Zep).

GINGER IS THIS FRIDAY! EVERYONE, BE PREPARED FOR MORE UK-INDIE WITH A
SOUPY TWIST. HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL THERE.
other ginger dates include: december 19th, january 2nd, 16th and 30th.
Open letter to the cities sweetest parvenu,
Welcome to ginger...or welcome back. This letter is an introduction to a
Three-dimensional joy-ride. So it seems fitting to invite you to relax,
loosen your belt and perhaps pour yourself another aqua vitae.
Long has Toronto suffered the sticky (often mundane) battle of the
nightclub. Commercial castles of music are popping up everywhere but
beyond the architectural obtuseness, top forty dance beats and
Meat-packaging atmosphere there is little marketability left in the
budget for substance. Ginger is a new discretion invested in the passion
for new UK indie, eclectic beats, sparkling orchestral pop and even some
moog pulsations but still vibrating the resonance of the beau ideal
past. This night also hopes to pass a little debauchery, shallow flash
and designer sneers into the aesthetic of the night. Ginger is
unapologetically a vainglorious evening.
Some of the bands you may be titillated with include, David Devant and
His Spirit Wife, My Life Story, Divine Comedy, Rialto, Travis, the
Experimental Pop Band, Momus, Elcka, Lucky 15, Dubstar, Babybird, Olive,
Orlando, the Weekenders, Mulu, Ether, Cola Boy, Belle & Sebestian,Peach,
Corduory, Denim and favourites include Bowie, the Jam, the Stones,Pulp,
Suede, the Smiths, Echo and the Bunnymen, the Verve, Spiritualized,
sometimes Blur and many more.
GINGER HAS HER NEXT APPEARANCE ON THIS FRIDAY DECEMBER 5th...1997
with more promotional videos direct from the UK and music you may never
hear anywhere else...
Ginger is Djed by Elvis Aristotle and Hosted by Lady Somerset.
Mike Delaney (bohobird) also hosts and finances this extravagant night
out. Darrell and Nora our appreciations also extend to their efforts.
GINGER WILL BE AT THE BIG BOP THIS FRIDAY. BIG BOP IS LOCATED AT THE
CORNER OF QUEEN AND BATHURST in Toronto.
We have also managed to keep the drink prices lower than previous big
bop events (ie. orange alert)!
19+/$4....because you know you want to.

Em, Evan Dando actually, but why let the facts ruin a good story.
B and S content? Well, I've been a lurker (on the list not in real life) for
quite a while and when I joined I was confident that I wouldn't go begging for
a copy of "Tigermilk". Partly because I adore "IYFS" to an unhealthy level and
partly because they would surely re-issue it soon. However I'm beginning to
feel impoverished without a copy and have every sign of BandS envy. So if any
kind hearted soul could help, could they mail me privately. It's christmas
after all.

Primal Scream won Mercury LP of the year 1992, when half of it was released
2 years prior.
