Hello chaps!
I've got two questions for you:
1. Does anyone know when The Acid House is coming out and what B&S track is
going to be on the soundtrack?
2. Did anyone watch Never Mind The Buzzcocks (repeat) on Monday? Who was the
bloke on the right team, with the long hair and nose piercing. He kept
saying he was in a rock band. He seemed familiar (looked like Mark Owen
actually--EEEEEK!), and since then I've been racking my mind to come up with
an answer. Ach, he's probably crap anyway.

on Popstar records. Anyone know of a web page, contact address. I'm
trying to get a copy of their single Charity Shop for my friend. I
tried Oxfams but...
By the way, I was accused of listening to soppy music, last night,
when I was falling asleep to the tunes of B&S. Another friend, who
has just stumbled across B&S described them as a cross between Dylan,
Simon and Garfunkel, and Donovan.

I was at the gig in the 13th Note too, and I thought Eugenius, The
Pastels and Belle and Sebastian were great. But I was also probably
the only person there that was disappointed that the BMX Bandits
didn't play! (....they were one of the first bands I cared about)
The Pastels totally rocked. And Stephen Pastel was wearing a dufle
coat before hand, which was cool because I always thought the
Pastels/duffle coat thing was a myth.
The only thing I think was that B&S shouldn't have played last when
they weren't playing a full set, It didn't bother me because I knew
from a girl who asked Sarah that they were only playing 5 songs, but
I know a couple of people there thiought it was a bit of an
anticlimax- by being last on the bill I suppose expectations were
raised a bit.
Still, what they played was fantastic, and I liked the Jesus and Mary
chain song best cause of the cool guitar bits that Chris played.
The most amazing feat of the night was that they all got on the
stage, which was tiny. Or they did at first, and then Stuart David
gave up and played his bass from the front row of the audience,
standing up at first, and then from sitting down. He's got a beard
now, and Chris Geddes' shaved head looks good, though its no longer a
total skinhead. Does any one care about these details- probably
not..sorry.
Now I must abuse the list a bit, and hope that Walter (sorry, can't
remember your non-nickname) has bothered reading the above rubbish to
get this far, and say that I am still here, all the rest of my mail
seems to be getting to me ok, so I don't know why yours doesn't,
and i don't know if you get the messages I send or not. Incase you
haven't this is ny address to write on paper if you still want to
meet up for Manchester: Flat 2/R, 12 Arlington Street, Glasgow,
G3 6DU.
I'm really sorry to everyone for that, but there seemed to be no
other way of contact.
And to reiterate a previous plea, anyone want to meet up with me
enroute to Manchester? I'll be travelling from Aberdeen via Glasgow,
and where ever the bus/train (I've not decided) stops.
Bye bye, love Juliaxxx

Am I the only suit in the world who likes B&S ?, everyone else on this list appears to be at University, or plying some sort of music trade.
I have long since given up all hope of ever actually laying my hands on vinyl Tigermilk, as I am sick of the derisory looks and comments I get down at the local "indie" stores...mainly because they are run by sicko sixth-form college boys with potato-crops on their shoulders....we have some half decent second-hand stores down here and wouldn't be at all surprised to learn that was a copy floating around, although anyone who even considered parting with their own copy must have a screw loose.
Thankfully, I've got a half decent PC here and have been listening from SD's totalweb site in me lunch hour....not quite the same though!
If anyone feels kind enough to run me off a half-decent copy, drop us a line at the address below.

Inspired by John Updike's recently completed collaborative internet novel, for
which he supplied the first paragraph and left the world to complete, I thought
it might be fun to do the same with the a Belle and Sebastian song.
So, here's my stab at the first verse. I found I had difficulty departing from
rhyming couplets - I guess my songwriting skills need some developing. No
title yet - perhaps that will come with the chorus. Or perhaps the whole thing
will fall flat and no one will be remotely interested in taking part. That's
the chance I'm going to take for every stupid thing I post. Hey ho.

... Ah the IYFS album ...
Every time I listen to it. I think when a song begins, this could be
a great one, but somehow I'm always disappointed.
Now I do think that Dog on Wheels is bloody brilliant (and I also like
the other two EPs), it's just I don't find IYFS a great/good album.

I too once (in high school) fell in love with the music of the mighty 'zep.
I enjoyed it at the time. Further, I would contend that their early music
is very reputable even on a critical standpoint. Did you know that Kenny
Pickett (from the Creation) was their roadie? Robert Plant attended a
Divine Comedy show in New York and I didn't even recognize him (I was too
busy acting like a fool in front of Harvey Williams).
It (led zep) was a bit misogynist. But the band was influenced by a lot of
misogynist music.
Did you also know that Stuart M used to listen to a lot of Yes (probably
less reputable than early Zep).

Yes, is an interesting point given the intro to "Yours is no disgrace" and

Hi!
This is Larry again..just a reminder to let you know that I am having a record
auction and it ends the 10th! It's been going on for quite some time and for
those of you don't know the original auction that started about a little over
2 weeks ago was accidentally canceled(AOL problem what else?) so we had to
start all over so
*if you made a post BEFORE November 25-26 (which was when the new page went
up) you might need to repost*
..most people know that already though. Anyways it ends the 10th and I just
wanted to remind people that it was out there at

i think it is obscure: '7th free record' by Smile ( there are other bands
called Smile, which are more well knowni woudl think!). this Smile was from
illinois ( champaign/urbana i think), about 5 years ago, and sounds a lot
like galaxie 500, in fact they ahd a song called 'galaxy 500'! its very
pretty music, and two tracks ended up on a compilation cd ( 'on a clear
day you can see byron' ) but they weren't my favorite tracks, darn it!
i loved that record, bought two copies, each were indivudually hand painted
and numbered. i traded one to someone for a field mice flexi, someone who
seemed cool, and i never heard back from them, and wondered if the album
offended them!
i wish i had that other copy again...
