A few musings on TOTP.
1) I am gutted that B&S won't be on. (I take it we are assuming that
sales will decline this week as the fan-base only buy one copy each?)
2) The reason I a gutted is because they would have looked so out of
place in that studio.
3) The reason I am gutted is because I would have loved to see the pop
thrill of B&S in its rightful place, cheek-by-wotsit with the savage
heart of nineteen ninety seven pop music.
4) TOTP is about big, out pop records. I love pop music. Although they
dont send me like B&S, give me the Spice Girls and Aqua a hundred times
out of a hundred if the alternative is the worthy, heads down dullness
of rawk and roll sleepwalkers like Ash. Even (cough) the vile Peter
Andre is preferable to that.
5) If TOTP turned into some kind of haven for alt. rock, I would cry.
And perhaps stamp my feet.
6) Get with the pop programme, kids! It's about what's wrong and right.
(This may be a lie).

There's a load of posters around Edinburgh at the moment of a club called DayTripper which features a large picture of Rolf proudly displaying his Stylophone... The guy who runs this club is a chap called Chris whom I gave a B+S ticket to last march as I'd bought a few extra - so it's probable that's why - I'll ask him next time I see him.

Yeah, hi, it's Mick. I think the best thing I've done is go
with Andy Symington to a gig at the top of the World Trade
Center - 107 floors up. The Dust Brothers DJd; the music was
like the Hi Karate DJs. And Beck was there - he's such a
shortarse; and Marilyn Manson - who looks like he still
lives with his mum.
A cool band called Ten Cents played. Their singer is a bit
like Gwen Stefani - and they played a song about a red
rubber ball bouncing down the road.
Then Sukia came on. They're great - all porn wigs and
moustaches. They play porn music too, on moogs. At the end,
one guy ripped off his top and jumped into the crowd. And
then view out the window was amazing. So that was that. I'll
pass you on to...

jean in peoples' top 10s but then someone remembered to
include it...

Oh Bollocks! I keep putting down a wrong mail
address for myself. For anybody who's tried to mail me (I should
be so lucky) and had no replies I apologise. I recently changed mail
programmes and the wrong address has been appearing as 'sender' in
list mail. If that's not enough I've been absentmindedly missing bits
when signing off. Oh, how foolish I feel.
