alright, regarding the top ten.....i'm not even gonna attempt it. but i
do have a question. i've recognized all the songs (unreleased and
released) except for one. what the hell is "pocketbook angel"? is it one
of those unreleased ones or is it on a compilation or what? i haven't
heard that one talked about on the list before.

[Keith Watson]
Pocketbook Angel isn't strictly a Belle and Sebastian song which does seem odd that it's on people's lists. It's a song recorded by Stuart whilst at Stow College.

ATTENTION!
Simon Harper asks of the person who recently expressed, in a classified ad,
a fondness for B&S:
'If you are 31 and live in NW London, and hate parsnips, then why haven't
you written to me, you bastard?!'
You know who you are.
Thank you.

But then again I know that the first time Bis came over to
New York, they were here for a week and played about 5
different shows in that week, which is kinda doing an overkill
on this city. If you play that often, you automatically become
that less special. When Belle & Sebastian came over it was
all rather "exclusive" except for the Sunday nite show. There
was more mystery about them.

So chatting with a local record, spot who at first told me the only way
I was going to get a copy of If You're was to import it cross the
ocean for $$$ , they found a promo copy and I got it for cheap.
I believe promos are 'cut' on the cd-case edge, right?
I assume so, since mine is.
I am asking then.. any advice how to get the EPs on this continent,
in this nation (anyone on this side willing to copy Tigermilk?)
Plus, is there any difference from the promo to the 'official'
release. it looks the same (as far as I can tell from the websites
and such...)
Curious,
Matthew

I bought 369SOL from AG Kemble in Wigston (actually a TV and video sales place, but they've got an excellent selection of stuff along one wall.)
I doubt even the Leicester clientele have heard of it,but then that's the musical service you get in Leicestershire's outposts. I'll shut up now.
Actually,no I won't. Has anyone got any stuff relating to Scarfo that they can send me for a Scarfo site I'm doing?

Interesting to see all the top tens that have been comming in. I think
mine would begin with "The State I am in" and end with "Tigermilk".
I've only heard Tigermilk (the track) once , at the concert in Oxford,
and was totally blown away. It was such a rocking number and just a joy
to be near. And that's what I really remember about that gig at the
Zodiac; how it was the first time that I'd ever seen a band where I
instantly liked the songs I hadn't heard before as much or even more
than the songs I adored already.
So I agree with Katrina:
"unlike many other bands, B&S's stuff just gets better and better "
Hooray!
Number 2 in my own private hit parade would be Expectations. Have they
ever played it live because both times I've seen 'em they didn't?
hot love

me:
<< oh, and on ceefax this morning i noticed a list of bands on
this week's totp and b&s weren't there. can't remember who
exactly were playing but jayne middlemarch (or whatever) was
presenting. um, ceefax page 560 something for details (565 i
think), it's a sub page of the chart rundown. >>
mike (and katrina elsewhere)

yes, yes, yes, yes, i'm a fool (like you all need
reminding...). i realised this on my way home on friday
night and felt stupid all weekend.
went out on saturday to buy another copy for another
american and couldn't find one. the 5 copies the local shop
had sold out in less than a day. does this mean they will
order 10 of the next single? i doubt it very much.
congrats on reaching number 32 btw. only 6 places behind
rolf harris... (sarah could get some stylophone playing
hints off the master himself if they're both on totp next
week).
