Bonjour mes enfants, I just want everyone to know that I love Halloween. When New York is in costume and drunk, you never know what is going to happen and that is just a beautiful thing. Especially for someone who just realized she is wearing two different shoes at work today. I thought something was a bit off this morning... er. So here is a message to the boy with whom I am competing for the B&S ticket. I'm going to get it buddy, oh yes I am. Sinister: Sleep the clock around

Hello lovely sinister people. I've just set a personal best. Let's see - I went to sleep at 6.15pm, woke up at 2am for a fire alarm, back to sleep at 3, and I woke up at 1.15pm today. That makes 18 hours sleep in total. I was going to write some ink polaroids for you but that'll have to wait until tomorrow. Or monday. Anway, you've all been v. entertaining recently, especially Reid, you lucky, lucky, lucky fool. I do have a few suggestions though - Firstly that there be some kind of history of the list. I'm not talking when it was set up etc, but all the old in-jokes, characters and rivalries etc. Also how about some kind of profile of our most frequent contributers? I've been on here since late june or so and I was a bit confused for a while... Sinister: I hate having to do this but...

I have to say goodbye, my year long flirtation with hundreds of strangers has to end. This Halloween brings the end of my full-time education career. The M.Phil thesis is finished and so am I. Full time bar work from now on. I only joined this list when I moved from Glasgow to Dublin, as I didn't know anyone and I had some connections with B&S. Here's my secret claim to fame folks, I used to live with the young lad Murdoch in a bed-sit on Hillhead st. just before B&S were created. I have thoroughly enjoyed being involved although I haven't had the chance to meet up with anyone, !!!! NB all Dubliners we should still organise a meet up, and when I return to Scotland meet some of you guys there. I willl still be communicable through this address but I can't stay on the list considering the size of it. And I will still be involved in the Tape tree, Andre, keep sending them on boy! I may only convert to the digest, but my days will no doubt be empty without the hour long haul through the hundred messages that appear. Thank you all, and I apologise again for starting the Edinburgh indie club thread a while back. To my Northern soul teachers, thank you for your help. Cheers Martin for Tigermilk and to everyone else for sharing my love of music and absolute insane chatter. Oh and my list crush just had to be Mr K.Watson. Hey everyone, just thought I'd find out if any of us are gonna meet up in London sometime? I'm form Burnt Oak but I'm currently in Leeds University so I should be back by Dec 11. I thought of some ideas everyone could do . . . go on a mad film fest, seeing 4 films in a day at Leicester Square or perhaps somewhere more independent. I'm currently doing a script which has some major songs in there from Belle and Sebastian, Fox in the Snow. It's not very good at the moment as it's only in its third draft but I think it's gonna be called "Back of Hand", some devotional stuff to weltering. God, does anyone have any strange remenisces of the Union Chapel gigg? Were you there? sound like a producer advertising now I'm happy to say that it was my first and only gigg but it took me ages to find it as everyone I asked didn't know where it was, not amused to find it was right there in bloody front of me to the right of the station and I eventually got there 15 minutes before the set started. Also I saw these 3 Indie girls on the train sitting opposite me and I had a feeling they were going to the gigg but I didn't ask them, they knew I was going I think. Then they sort of followed me left out of the station, yeh like I knew where I was going! I sort of lost them and I just wondered if they ever got there fotr the gigg, anyone know them? I think they were from Manchester or somink. Didn't see Jarvis there although plenty of trendies as Jo Whiley and Steve Lamacq were advertising the hot gigg on their shows. O.k that's my memory of the BELEE SEBEE. I hope you had real good time all of you Yanks who went to their giggs, yes their set is short I suppose but then they are not like any other band, in fact band doesn't give them the right profile, I prefer to call them a group of musicians, fine arting in the melodious, melifluous end of the music train. Sinister: Friday Freak Out!

First of all, a big thank you to Reid for taking the time to write that monster message. It gave me quite a hearty chuckle, and enabled me to continue my virtual stalking of Mad Dog Murdoch. I really should start writing this stuff down. It'll make things much easier when I settle down to compile my Beatles-style Belle and Sebastian Rock'n'Roll Diary. OCTOBER 29 1998: Isobel blew her nose outside the tour bus lavatory, and was later accosted by two fans in a car, who reminded her a bit of that wierdo in Silence of the Lambs. She should've hopped in, Debbie Harry's got plenty of mileage from her Al Bundy story. Down to business. After trying all night to wallpaper my room with the sound of The Skatalites, at around half past six this morning I was visited by the spectre of Stuart Murdoch, a vision, if you will. he asked if he could stay awhile and I said that yes he could if he wanted to, and explained what I was trying to do. He seemd intersted, but was pale and unsteady, as ghosts so often are. He then decided to teach me the words to his new song "Oh! Lord Anthony". The Skatalites joined in from the odd places where the wallpaer had actually stuck. Here are the words: T-4-2, I love you, You're a very special robot, You can walk, You can talk, You can tell me lovely stories, You can sing, You can PLAAAAAAAAAY! You can do what I say, You're a very special robot, You're my friend. According to Stuart, the band's wierd watermelons section would be employed in the production of R2D2 noises throughout the song, something The Skatalites couldn't quite capture. But Stuart and the resurrected Don Drummond got on like a house on hotcakes. Christopher Leonard, you promised us a full gibbering of the String Band shindig today. Don't think I haven't been looking forward to it, becasuse I have. Duke's book is still good, even though he slags off Hawkwind. I believe Yul Brynner has commandeered Ooon's computer again, so she might not be able to answer. Sinister: The Winner Takes It Up The Bum

Hello everybody, Bloody hell my head hurts today. That's cos I'm a winner and spend all my evenings dancing with pop stars. I even entered a twist competition last night. A bit like that scene in Pulp Fiction with John and Uma except I didn't win and er, Uma was Mandy. But Mandy was a pop star and had been on top of the pops and had even toured in Spain, which is a particularly good source of Columbia's finest export by all accounts. Does this go some way to explaining the sinister concept we know as "PJMiller"? Well it does for me and speaking of drugs, didn't someone say they thought the Field Mice were a cross between B&S and The Stone Roses? I congratulate this person. They're obviously on drugs and in case you didn't know drugs are big and clever. Especially nurofen, which at this moment I'd say doesn't do much for me. But I have high hopes. Has anyone else noticed Peter Miller's apparently innocent introduction of all things bum into the conversation? His latest being "up the bum sex" which I highly recommend. Not with Miller though. By his own claim he has a whopping chopper and I suspect that wouldn't do the old hemorrhoids any good. Little Tag however... Are any of you soft southern jessies going to the Wild Weekend goings on in London town this weekend? I am and I'm going to have up the bum sex with a London girl too. So there. I'd suggest having a meet up but I'm a really horrible person and I wouldn't want to scare you so maybe not. I'm looking forward to seeing The Thanes most of all. When they played Aberdeen in 1989, Lenny Helsing turned up for the show with some sandwiches his mum had made him. Isn't that sweet. Even Murdoch isn't that much of a sap. But I've got to go and throw up now. Then I'm going to a dead rough pub to buy two giant bars of chocolate for a pound from a local ruffian. I'm going to eat some chips too.
