Sinister: ANYTHING!

I am looking for anything Belle and Sebastian, especially Tigermilk. Please help me out. I am a poor, isolated, apathetic American, and I need B&S to cope with my depressing life. Email me at carmen(a)provincetown.k12.ma.us if you can help me. Also, I saw the Boston show at the Morse Auditorium and I was amazed! I was shocked how hard they can rock! It was quite a thing to see all of them live. Isobel wasn't feeling well, and unfortunately it showed-- poor girl. Sinister: This is just a Modern Rock Song ...

The Modern Rock Song has always struck me as being a song of two halves. The first half is quite funny and a bit daft but still nothing to wet your pants over but the second half -"I'm not as sad as Dostoyevsky ..." is wonderful. This is a bit odd cos the song doesn't change much. I went to see the Trueman Show the other day at our local cinema called the Savoy. It's a lovely place where they have plush double seats, and intermissions so you can buy ice-cream. I thought the first half was great and really sad, but the second half, when he knew he wasn't living in the real world, was practically a different film. Like having Jurassic Park without any dinosaurs after the intermission. Neverthless, despite this strange double-sided phenomenon, the Modern Rock Song is great and I'm glad that it's being released at last. On an e.p. as well - ace! ooops, I've just wet my pants. Bye! Hello all Thanks to Katrina for the new EP info. Only 6 weeks to go before we finally get to hear the studio version of best song ever written with a line about defrosting the fridge. Goody goody. When I was over in France during the summer the natives failed to live up to their mean-spirited stereotype quite spectacularly by all being dead sound, and now that Philippe (one L, 3 Ps, etc) has sent me the tape of the Black Sessions I'll never hear another bad word about those wonderful people again. My side of the bargain is that anyone in Ireland who wants a copy of the session can mail me and let me know and I'll sort something out. At the moment there is a queue of two. If I'm in a good mood I might even copy the cover that Philippe sent me with photos from the gig. The gig itself is really good, if you can put up with the band's usual shameless self-promotion (2 whole songs off the current album!) Mr.Lenoir's ramblings between songs make for a good laugh too. (If you're not in Ireland but would be prepared to tape some non-album Stephin Merritt songs for me my arm could be twisted too). While I'm here, can I just recommend the new Boo Radleys LP to anyone who is even vaguely tempted to buy it as it is bloody marvellous. Unlike last time out, there are loads of P!O!P! songs and unlike the previous time out they are not quite P!O!P! enough to have every breakfast show ever playing them for eternity. Three in one day indeed I know, but..... We have established now that us southern sassies are going to have some sort of shenannigans at Brighton, and, If you hold your horses for just a little while longer Jakenny has posted to the message board at Uncle David Kitchens love palace...it just takes a couple of days to go through the pipeline while David and Katrina filter through these messages and decide whether or not they like us enough to advertise the meet up. So, If we can wait a couple of days and post follow-ups to Jakes message rather than flood Honey's fabbo list with inane southern dribblings it would leave us free to talk about what music Honey likes to bump n grind to. James, is that the Cd for the documentary "Endless Harmony"? If so, I must take issue with your use of words to describe "Brian's Back"....needless to say as an amateur BB snob I really despise anything Mike L. does that gets in the way of things ("Kokomo," etc.). I mean, he's fine as a team player, but ... oh, I should shut up now or I'll never stop. Let's just say I hate him.:) Anyway, that documentary is really really good. Was it shown in the UK? I remember right after they showed this, they then showed an old American Bandstand where the poor Beach Boys performed on a show dedicated to...the Beatles! Every song was a Beatles song that the kids were grooving to. Then the Beach Boys got up and did a spot-on, note-for-note perfect (all right, it was lipsynched) "Don't Worry Baby." That song makes me cry, it really does. At least Mike Love didn't dance. But it must've felt strange to be on that particular show, what with the BB-Beatles rivalry and all... Hello lovelies. I haven't written since the Philadelphia failure - probably a mixture of heartbreak and busy-ness (it's been a crazy week). I'm very glad we had the post-show party even in spite of the lack of show...it would have been terrible to have to go straight home and have to deal with the sorrow all by myself. Maybe we can even have another Philly get-together under more auspicious circumstances sometime, eh? To everyone i owe a tape to: i'm sorry, it really HAS been a busy week. I promise i'll get them out soon. My lovely little fish Sebastian is making faces at me. Did i mention that i have a radio show called The Electronic Renaissance?
