Hello! I am not sure how this message board works. I was wondering if you could post a note for me? I am flying up from Oklahoma (hopefully) to the chicago show. I am very broke and I am looking for anyone who is going to the show and lives near the airport and is wiilling to let me stay the night with them after the show or know of any youth hostels in Chicago. Very urgent. I really, really,really,really, really want to go to this show. Sinister: Irrelevant, boring message

Just got back to my poota today after a weekend of indulgence, as per, and had an astonishing 72 messages to wade through - mainly from you lot, and many that were irrelevant to me, but I'm not complaining - it beats work any day. I did notice far too many people being far too harsh on Jake though. Has anyone out there ever heard of tongue-in-cheek (no, it's nothing sexual). If you are offended by his comments, nobody is forcing you to read his posts. I like the 'If you're feeling sinister' album cover, but that's because I'm sad & it's the same colour as my footie teams strip (No, not Man U). I also like dog on wheels, again though that's because I'm sad and I fancy the girl on the cover. We've done cartoon characters.. does anyone else out there fancy someone on an record sleeve? How about literary characters? Mine's Verity from Ian Banks' 'The Crow Road'. Maybe I should get out more and go after somebody who is real.... As for Northern soul, a personal favourite is 'The Wigan Casino Story'. A few months back I went to see a very good show by Dwight Diller (completely un-B&S like West Virginian banjo-playing preacher man) and he was talking about how in America it's the South that's the last acceptable prejudice, and in the South it's West Virginia and Arkansas which are the last acceptable prejudices. He then followed it up with two very funny jokes about Arkansas. Just thought I'd add my two cents. And while I'm at, on the subject of fictional crushes, my recent ex-girlfriend was obsessed with Nicola Six (out of "London Fields"). In fact go and buy that Marvin Gaye album that is sitting in the sale shelves in your local record store. There is bound to be one really cheap. The early stuff is more POPlike, bouncy and happy, his duets are fanatastic and his later stuff is really moving. And as for fancying girls on covers, record covers that is, I have this thing for Sharlene from the band Texas, that Scottish accent as well, her and our dear own Isobel. In fact I've taken to turning the cd booklet to TBWTAS back to front just so she is on the cover. So does that count.? Sinister: The Monday Poem - "a poem for monday"

Good day to you all. I'm not sure whether I'm the appropriate person for this monday poem business, since I'm not particularly literate or familiar with the idiom. It is some years since I was in school, y'see. However, since I appear to be 'it' for today, I shall give you 2 poems by Don Van Vliet alias Captain Beefheart. I like them because they have a similar sense of mischief as his marvellous music and make me smile. I have a cd of him reading them which is unlistenable because he's suffering from some debilitating illness and clearly finds speaking quite difficult. I'd rather imagine him reading them out in his booming 5 octave glory, waving his arms around like a madman. Righty-ho. The Tired Plain The bra was white and yellow elastic and held to foam cones the corners triangular shaped pyramid three edges made one point starfish and embry boards triple D cupped and poked to a point the main character was composed into a bow that broke first in the front and equal on adjacent sides American Cowboy was approaching on a collision course -his hands groped outstretched three digits triangular to the front nail a line was drawn from the middle finger to the knuckle of the index finger across the middle finger onto the third- creating a perfect arrow with an imaginary point Skeleton Makes Good There's so many things to feel and see while you're awake they're just out of reach out of grasp out of reach and just as many, maybe more the minute that you sleep so I got to throw my preach skeleton breath scorpion blush I have a crush on your skeleton watch out unsuspecting stranger you'll fall off the log headfirst into dreams end up screaming this will comb the wolf and that will comb the fog what will peen the rain what will preen the hog oh you mean earth and hell over you and laugh at your tyre tracks if you get up skeleton makes good. Hello Everyone, I've seen we've been Talking about Northern Soul and I just recently dont keep much up on New Music Categories) realized it was a music(Atleast I think).I always thought they Were talking about the Vere's "A Northern Soul". Anyhow,I was wondering hows itsound and what are like The "Classic" records to buy not class as in old but Great like "What's the Story(Morning Glory?)" For britpop Now I must go off To School and Dream of Being A rock Star in London and having the girl of my dreams. P.S. AHH!
