What's up, my beloved sinisterines ? My first Belle and Sebastian dream take place yesterday night!I had not been listening to any of their songs ( in fact, I had been playing Mercury Rev old albums and Sonic Youth stuff before going to sleep) Well, there was not any member in the plot, but some listee : Robin Stout. There is some explanation.I went yesterday to check the FilmMaking Soc pidgeonhole at the Union to get a copy of a script, but instead of it I found a list with new members names and Robin Stout was written there. And I started to think he was everywhere I join lately, maybe he is not real , he is just some projection of myself, my own William Wilson ? Let's go to the dream : I was in the Science Library, and I was looking up some book in the computer.Then someone pushed me slightly on my back and I nearly fall onto the keyboard.I turned my head to find a terribly pathetically ugly guy wearing a TShirt which said : Who is Seymour Stein? And then I knew (as you only know in dreams,with no reasons at all,and someone said before)he was Robin Stout and I stated so in loud voice, and he nodded ,grinning at the same time. Sorry, Robin, probably you look much better in real life , and I hope you will recover soon from your illness It is funny anyway, you hadn't posted anything lately and you sent something today.And however, you were the first one with a bus story, the one about the girl wearing a B&S T Shirt in Kidderminster, indeed. A little game that anyone with internet access can play... Type someone's name into a search engine, and see what comes up. Sad, but very interesting. It turns out that Mr Mitchell, who is married to the lovely Karie Ann Colacicco Mitchell, loves his siblings even though only one of them has a web site, is a member of the Society for creative Anachronism, and admires Freddy Mercury. Nice to hear that he likes Helena Bonham-Carter, though. He's a very nice looking man, too. Will the real Paul Mitchell please stand up? I feel cheated. B&S Content - what exactly is the 'mick cooke commerative mug' (sic)? I'm tempted, but there's nothing worse than a diappointing mug is there. May I draw your attention to a splendid portrait of Mad Dog Murdoch on the Mummy page? It was done by my lovely wife, as a tribute to Lesley Jo's adventures in Washington DC. -and i'd like to thank her for so many moment's of Joy it brought to me when i looked upon it!!! poor dear stu is so accurately depicted in his demeanor and sweetness of nature, i feared that the artist was telepathically delving into my own memory somehow.....eerie indeed! Gabba gabba hey, Love tag xxx ......Hmm and HOW ON EARTH did a certain tag manage to STEAL my intended sign-off phrase, before i had even gotten to use it!!??? the Hell!?!? have i entered the twilight zone? John said and sorted everything out. He was a bit pissed off that I wouldn't let him have his go during our Wednesday night Chorlton lesbians bum games. Especially since I'd .........Lesbians bum games? as a so-called Lesbian, may I actually ask what those might be? or do i really want to know??????......... big hugs to all the kind folks what offered to make tapes for a poor little girl, you're all so very sweet and deserving of a shiny apple of your own(s) i greatly enjoyed the psychoanalytical/mythical narration of the Hurley/Judy horse archetypal story as a progression in the work of a certain Mr. Murdoch. it was quite fascinating.. I would love to hear more. and dont' be surprised if one day i return the favor...as soon as i find some songs worth analyzing in kind......god i love overintellectualizing silly art! (no im' just kidding, it's not silly at all...) and in the same vein, i'm a girl who dreams constantly of horses. usually either a black or a white horse. the black horse was usually wild and threatening as one more aspect of my 'black animals" as specter of feared sexuality/instinct/repressed anger. as i learned to deal with these issues the fierce animal dreams died down. but for me dreams of riding horses are a desire for freedom as wel as mastery over your physical nature---riding the beast so to speak, and not to mention the fact that a horse is a perfect substitute for what we are taught we must receive from men--physical strength, protection, virilty so to speak. who needs a man for that, a horse is much better and doesnt' make nasty jokes about you to its friends. (i would mucj rather have a female horse however....) but i digress. I love horses and i love Judy as well and i'll ride with her and Lisa and Chelsea any day, as well as Jo and Phil. I realized that "We Rule the School" is actually another variation on Pachelbel's Canon. Hmmm??? Tigermilk may be my favorite, but i can't make judgement as yet. sinister is still very good. twattybus is good but has its spotty moments in comparison to the others (what a standard to live up to no less!!) the EPS if they were an album squished together, would be equal to any of them....... thank you Jess, for making us laugh about love, again. and thank you Isobel, for buxom fun... *PHWOARR!!* wait till you all see my izzy pictures from the show......i just had to get inmy daily phwoar early this wee of the dawn. anda quote now from the world's most self consciously and puzzlingly moronic rag, Spin..........i picked up an ish today so i could cut out stuff for my graphicdesign assignment. spin is good to cut up, not usually good for much more....... Sinister: B&S here in Australia?

Hey sinisterines:) My exams are over HUZZAH! Now it's time for three months of summer (as it is over here in Australia) No I hope I won't spent the whole "summer wasting" just a teensy part of it:) but down to important business, Perth, Western Australia has been slowly been rising in recognition by the alternative/indie scene and finally after a years of a drought of decent bands we're finally getting bands like Radiohead, Portishead, Teenage Fanclub and Beasties! And for all those Cat Power fans out there, she's coming HERE! to the Mudslinger festival!!! Which is practically on my doorstep!!! I couldn't be happier. Everyone's rantings about the lovely Cat Power have intrigued me so much I can't wait to hear her. Dear listees, I have written to David Kitchen TWICE already and though I know it's a terribly ridiculous thought only to be entertained by foolish dreamers like moi, I would like to know about the very very remote possibility of the magnificent B&S gracing our shores. Yeah i know, pretty silly idea huh? but a boy can dream And I would like an answer either from David or the wonderful Katrina about this. Even if it is "no, don't be silly" but an answer would be appreciated. B&S are most definitely growing in popularity over here due to frequent airplay on the alternative radio shows and buzzes from London and various mags. So B&S if you're reading this (or Katrina and David for that matter) don't ignore your SOuthern Hemisphere constituency! Sinister: Black session and tigermilk free - 4th update

Hi all, Lots of news for you. First of all, i am sorry to announce that from now on I cannot take new request for tapes, since I have close to 50 tapes to make and it just blows my finances (especially postage for the US people is 7 bucks a piece + the costs for the tape). PLEASE, if you volunteer, make sure you have a good stereo at home, not just one you got 10 years ago for 100 bucks- the others want a good copy! Ok, that was a lot, but I think that will be all. By the way, if one of the listees has the opportunity to meet Stephen Pastel in his record store, dont hesitate to congratulate him and to say this party in Paris was great!!! - I used to go to Glasgow uni and every lunch time I used to go down to Byres Rd and browse through the obscure 7" upstairs. He wasn't there everyday unfortunately. WOW being a pop fan has it's great moments. It was really good fun to watch the people who didn't know who he was getting served, then watching the shufflin,nevous fans taking some carefully selected piece of vinyl over. Can you imagine the Joy when I took up my mates band 7" and he asked me what it was like!!!! Unfortunately I just stammered a lot....... I once followed Katrina round safeway at the top of Byres road. And I also saw them at a couple of Pulp gigs My god I'm a stalker aren't I? Oh my god......... Sinister: A pair of shoes and a key please

I was on a bus the other day and the driver got a call on the radio asking if he could do an extra shift because "one of our drivers has driven off in his bus and we don't know where he is". Maybe he'd just driven home for dinner, and a spot of nookie with the wife, forgetting that he was still driving a double-decker. Well at least a bus on his drive will impress the neighbours. It beats Mrs Cooper's begonias at number 42. I've been horribly ill recently and I've missed a lot so I can't really understand half of what's going on, but this bus theme's great. I know it's a bit early but has anyone got any ideas for Christmas presents? I don't want to have to give my sister a lump of coal again. Sinister: my special surprise!

hi there! i thought i would include a copy of my review of the show in chicago. i wrote this for an local LA music and film newspaper that is written by uni students and recent alumni. it has a distribution of over 105,000 readers in the southern california region. most of the readers have no idea who belle and sebastian are. keep that in mind while reading it! enjoy! :) Belle And Sebastian at the Metro in Chicago. -Jennifer Hjelm I flew to Chicago to catch a glimpse of my favorite band since they were only touring the East Coast. After the cancellation of two earlier shows in Philadelphia and Toronto due to illness, I feared I would miss my chance to see them live. Thankfully my prayers were answered and the band miraculously showed up on stage at the 1,100 capacity venue. The packed venue proved to be a tight fit for the band and the "cool indie kid" audience. I dont know how the eight members even fit on the tiny stage, but they flowed gracefully around it between songs. The players kept trading off instruments proving their prowess on each one. Stuart Murdoch, the band visionary, started the set with "Century of Fakers" off an old EP, then moved to the unreleased "I Know Where The Summer Goes." This mini-American tour was more of an introduction to the band than a proper promotional tour. The set list spanned their three year career excluding their elusive debut Tigermilk. Chronicled as one of the best bands of the last few years, Belle and Sebastian like to keep to themselves. They rarely tour, conduct only a few interviews, and dont do photo shoots. So when I got the chance to see them live, I jumped on it and flew to the nearest venue, albeit 2000 miles away. The crowd was thrilled to see the band and thankful Isobel (the cellist) was well enough to play. Every song including the six unreleased ones were well received, although Murdoch fretted that they played "too many" new songs. Highlights included "Chickfactor" which is penned and sung by guitarist Stevie Jackson. The duet "Lazy Line Painter Jane" proved that the band can actually rock out if they choose. Strong guitars, along with Murdochs voice raised above his somber speaking tone, proved the band to be more than an octet Simon and Garfunkel. The new song "Slow Graffiti" which is on the soundtrack for the movie Acid House, was absolutely stunning live. Belle and Sebastian are as wonderful as it is to hear the sound of their name roll off your tongue. The intricate instrumental details that most bands leave out are the mainstay of their uniqueness. I am completely enamored with this band; their angelic soft spoken songs, perfect melodies and the unassuming character of the band make you almost believe that they were sent down from heaven, via Glasgow, Scotland. Belle and Sebastian will release the four track EP "This Is Just A Modern Rock Song" on Dec. 7th.
