Yes - last night I had a belle and sebastian dream.. sort of. I was going to Tokyo, for some reason, not sure why, by plane. I was going with a friend who for some reason turned into Isobel half-way through the dream (what does this mean??). Anyway, when we got the tickets on the morning of the flight, we discovered, much to our delight, that Belle and Sebastian were doing the inflight entertainment. Yes, they were performing a concert in the plane, half way to Japan. And they were being supported by 'The Cheesey Big Band' (!) - whatever that might be. Unfortunately I woke up before actually getting on the plane, which is a bit of an arse really, so I can't report on the concert itself. Shame. Ummm biscuit... bar? I think I have to agree that biscuits should be flat, and bars should be rectangular, but to be perfectly honest I think there's quite a lot of overlap between the two terms. And I really don't care one iota about the difference between kiosks and cubicles. Sinister: Biscuits

Just to throw a spanner in the works. Are there not such things as biscuit bars? I'm sure you see them at British Rail Station food shops. Are these some sort of strange mutants of the humble bar and the mighty biscuit? Safeway make Orange flavour chocolate biscuit bars. Any other examples?! Hello, It's good to know that amidst these irrelevant debates on education cuts, the plight of the homeless, and Northy's (God, I miss him) concerns about the CHEMICAL WEAPONS OF MISTER SADDAM HUSSEIN (READ YOUR PAPERS PEOPLE!!!!!), that someone has their fingers truly on the pulse of the nation. I'm talking of course of Stewpot Murdoch, and his wandering band of minstrels, who asked.... >*What makes a biscuit a biscuit and a bar a bar? So that a Twix or a 5-4-3-2-1 is a bar, and a digestive is a biscuit. Tunnocks caramel bars (a tasty treat with a thousand uses) are bars. But there are a number of strange issues. Fig rolls, for example, are not bars, certainly, but are they called 'rolls' because veer away somewhat from the biscuit concept? And although 'if you like a lot of chocolate on your biscuit' implies that a club is a biscuit, there is a difference between biscuit as a filling or a base for a bar, and "a" biscuit. A club is not "a" chocolate either, even though it has chocolate in it. A club is a bar. And what about hobnobs? They can be in two forms - a biscuit or individually wrapped bars. And jaffa cakes, which are particular bone of contention for me. Biscuit or cake? Since they are described as cakes, a recent EC directive decreed that they should therefore be taxed accordingly. And a jaffa cake contains light sponge, chocolate and a smashing orangey bit, but not 'biscuit'. But I can't help feeling that an authentic cake should somehow be bigger. I have no problem with them being called jaffa 'cakes', somehow jaffa sponges or jaffa biscuits is aesthetically inferior, and a bombay duck is a fish not a duck, and a parson's nose is not a nose at all, so why should a jaffa cake be a cake. A case of EC bureaucracy gone mad, perhaps? Maybe, other readers or indeed Stuart himself would care to offer their views. >and also > >*Who is the most famous living person? And the most famous person could possibly be TOM JONES!!! Who incidentally is playing the Nynex in Manchester soon. I really should go and get a ticket. But desafortunadamente (is that the word? its too bloody long.. :o)) it will be quite expensive. i'm currently reading a tom jones biography which is telling me he's a right lout.... sad in a way. oh well. must listen to spiritulized again....and drink some water. hi all! i'm afraid my last post made even less sense than ususal. *sigh* HoneyPie wrote this kinda stuff..... ****Can I also ask for an explanation over booths/cubicles/kiosks? I've always wondered what the difference is**** Booths is an upmarket Spar. In my little opinion. Cubicles are places where women are designated to pee in because women are nicer than men and do not piss all over the floor in their toilets (no, just in the cubicles) and keep our pee-ing private. A kiosk is a little place where a man stands and sells sweets, papers, fags'n'rizlas. i know a man who will stock 'behind the counter' alcohol in his *kiosk*.....only joking.......(are there any coppers on the list by the way?) (OFF TOPIC, i must now digress as the strings have just kicked in on ANGEL HIGH on S/Lized Lazer guided...and its soo magical! anyway..) Which treat surfs the elusive dividing line the best?******* hmm, a hard question. but i think i know. bicuits are all in one big long packet, whereas 'bars' are all *individually* wrapped. as to their tastes, well, a bar is usually harder than a biscuit, ie doesn't crumble, and is ALWAYS covered in choclate. health food 'bars' don't count. they are not food anyway. well, not as we know it. (swaaaaay....sorry....still listening to spiritualized..) a Twix is a 'bar' as it is choclate covered bicuit. the things that classify it as a bar are 1. the fact it is individually wrapped 2. it is long and fiinger shaped 3. it is in a bar shape. perhaps #3 is the vital answer. BUT MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL! IT IS TIME! Sarah has got herself a web site! please would any Sinisterines/ettes like to go and visit her? Sinister: Biscuit Boys

Hmm dunno about the biscuit ones in particular, perhaps it's because a Twix isn't bar shaped, more of a charming semicircular prism. Who knows, it's puzzling. I wonder if Allen Klein and the Rolling Stones get royalties from 54321's? Sarah, yeah, it's about time the Manic Street Preachers thing stopped I suppose, it's going nowhere anyway, just an "I like them" and "No I don't scenario". So we'll all have to agree to differ I suppose. Just listening to the amazing version of "Career Oppurtunities" by the Clash - as performed by Mickey Gallagher's children (Ian Dury's piano player) on Sandanista, it's grown on me over the years this one - quite like it now. I wonder what Mickey Gallagher's kids think of it now that they're like my age. The BBC Radio One "Evening Session" session was recorded in advance, and one track was broadcast on each day of 08/09/97 to 11/09/97. I believe there was a single track broadcast live on the Evening Session a few weeks before this. Does anyone have info on any Scottish radio sessions, or any other ones, for that matter? P.S.The Loving Spoonful are another of those groups like 10cc and Come, named after the male human ejaculate. Just thought you'd like to know!
