Sorry about the irrelevance to the band, but can anyone recall the supposed virus that was mentioned a while back? Someone has just dramatically rushed into our computer room to tell us not to open a mail JOIN THE CREW. ohmigod. my computer spoke to me today. i swear! there was nothing in the cd rom and i wasn't on the internet or anything but there was this little sound/voice? coming out of the speakers for about 2 seconds. it freaked me out. it sounded like a walkie talkie/alien signal coming thru... *CHHHKKK* i dunno what it said but i think it spoke chinese! you lot know a bit about computers and things right? is it possible for computer speakers to pick up cell phones or satellite transmission or something? cos if not then there's a little person trapped in my computer!! forget human cloning, this could be a whole new species evolving out of magnetic plates and pentium chips!! eep! technology! micro-jillian _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. Hello, Oh, that's better. This joint was jumpin' yesterday. Oh yes, un grand merci to all the people who wrote to all the people who wrote about Autour de Lucie, too many to reply to, though I tried. Oh God how I tried. Anyway, I feel like an expert now. And I really hate public speaking (no, honestly I do). Anyway, everyone normally talked about engineering this, and technical that, but I decided to talk about the French New Wave. There is a well known (in some parts) energy bar called Tiger Milk produced by Weider Inc. (couldn't immediately find a pack shot to direct you all towards). It comes in Peanut Butter Crunch and Peanut Butter & Honey varieties. A book about the history of Nicaraguan women contained the phrase "Tiger's Milk" somewhere in the title, but I somehow doubt this was Stuart Murdoch's inspiration. The most common meaning has already been mentioned: it's an alcoholic drink. This is the meaning ("some sort of liquor") given by a WWW guide to slang found in hard-boiled detective novels. But it seems to be used in at least two related contexts. It is the name given to a particular cocktail I found on a Danish website. And (this is presumably what Daniel's friend remembers) it is also the name of a rather nasty sounding cheap white wine. See the follwing story, from Off License News, for details. While listening last night to Iggy Pop's cd-single "Living on the edge of the night" , which features the original version of China Girl ("covered" by D Bowie) it struck me Iggy could make a cracking cover of The Boy Done Wrong Again or Like Dylan in The Movies Or The Cardigans! Everyone, I hope no-one thinks my last message was a dig. I just want people get emotional, not complacent. We've got a perfect base, all this technology, and I hate it going to waste in some petty discussion about what songs are in which Smiths albums or whether Radiohead are better than Sarah Records or whatever shite ... we should be using all this we get from these records, making everyone laugh (like Peter and Susannah), writing witty little anecdotes about their lives (like Genevieve), or making films, getting together, forming bands, opening clubs, launching plans for an international pop underground magazine.
