Each year on Cinco de Mayo, a radio station in New Haven, CT broadcasts from a Mexican restaurant ... free margueritas and such... BUT, they put out a call for people who own chihuahuas to bring them down, and they hold a Chihauhua Stampede!! through the restaurant. They put little sombreros on them and just turn them loose -- maybe after a taco or a monkey or something. God, someday I am definitely going to go to that... it sounds so great on the radio and I suspect it would be incredibly fun to be there -- especially after drinking a lot of margueritas at 8 in the morning. Sorry about your tadpoles, Racheeee -- that's so sad. When I was little I had some in a fishbowl, and was watching them grow (science in the home and all that). They were just getting their little legs when, in a burst of love and caring, I fed them LOTS of extra food, thinking it would make them grow big and strong. They ate every bit, and then died of it, putting me into a fit of guilt and sorrow. Gosh, I still feel bad right now thinking about it... So, all you aquatic life owners -- when it comes to feeding, less is definitely more. But, newts in hats! Newts in hammocks with tropical drinks! begbie has gone and used "chutzpah" in a post. could it be that he is one of us, the Chosen People? maybe we should ask keith for details, as he's been inside rrrrrod's pants and should be able to, erm, tell definitively, right? or was that pedro miller? i keep getting confused. or maybe it's just a weird scottish/yiddish overlap, as i heard my grandmothers both say "pish" ages before i heard it from stuart david. well, in other news, my sister is in london at the moment and will be attending the social tomorrow evening, so if any of you are there and see/hear a couple of americans chatting madly and getting obscenely drunk, they're most likely my sister and her friend. and if you do see her, make sure to embarrass her by asking about how she had to have the combination lock sawed off her luggage by a locksmith in paris earlier this week. :) and looper...i have the single as well (though i am sans turntable at the moment) and heard it for the first time when my friend played it on his radio show on monday. it truly r!u!l!e!s! and is ace, class, top class, and every other exemplary phrase you can think of. if anyone in the UK (or elsewhere) wants a copy, i ordered one extra and will send it to you if you'd like. email me privately and we can arrange a trade of some sort. and now to join everyone else in counting down to the release date of the new b&s album, and the start of the tour... ah, never mind, my math is crap anyway. someone else do the counting. i'll just wait and start bugging people at work about promotional copies. :) take care, Amanda x x ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------- . Sinister: Sessions help

I wouldn't bore the list with this if I hadn't tried elsewhere to no avail, but the talk of the new B & S album has finally spurred me to action...I need all of those wonderful new songs that everyone else has heard from the sessions, everything *after* the session with "Modern Rock Song". Is there some kind soul out there who could make me a tape, in return for the normal good graces of tape trading? I'm also interested in the recent Mogwai sessions and the Electric Sound of Joy Peel session from a few weeks back, if anyone bothered to tape it. An off-list reply would be greatly appreciated. Sinister: 'The King' is scratching the sofa again!

Hey people. While lounging around on this hot and clammy thursday evening, happily listening to the excellent 'Lazy Line Painter Jane' EP, it occurred to me that the track 'Century Of Elvis' could well be written about... a cat! Before you all throw up your hands and shout "Oh... tish!" in unison, give me a chance to explain. Even though Mr Presley himself had no known connection with any feline through his pill popping and hamburger munchin' career, it is intirely possible that he could have been re-incarnated as a moggy in up in high bonny Scotland! The lyrics contain the such references to this as Elvis "Thinking about getting in the postman's van..." or "Licking the pavement..." and "Waiting to be let in...". Even "Playing with is collar a bit..." is plausable. Anyway... has anyone else got any 'famous people back as household pets' theories? PS. Linda should call the fish 'Labella'. Not only is it Italian for 'the beautiful' but it's also the name of my current recording project, so it'll be a dedication if nothing else! fish: I had a goldfish named Armando and he lived for 5 years. oh yeah, and my sister had a fish named Mr. Mo because he looked like he had a mohawk. newts: my sister had one called Fig Newton and my dog ate him. She now wants to get another called Newt Gingrich. B&S hipness test was hilarious. Thank you thank you all nyc sinisterines who tried to come see my band play last night, you're all dears. Also I just discovered ICQ and it ROCKS! Or would that be R!O!C!K! ? you can dowload it for free off the web and waste even more valuable time at work (or home, I suppose, but if I'm home, I'd rather be sleeping.) Anyway you can send instant msgs. to people and it's great. my friend today noted that a lot of britspeak has been permeating my speech recently, I attribute this to sinister as I really have no other valid reason.
