Starting off with "Tender Object" by Orange Juice you'll find an excellent selection of absolute classic P!O!P! masterpieces also paying homage to my liking for the London Paisley Underground. I wouldn't mind borrowing the "masters", interested youngsters could establish a snail mail chain forwarding the cassettes to each other for individual dubbings or someone might volunteer to make copies for other listees provided s/he'll be reimbursed as regards the expenses. Besides, in my humble opinion the last decade was the most enjoyable in terms of P!O!P! music, closely followed by the Sixties. dear paul and assorted sinister people sadly this note comes to you at a time where when i am greiving the loss of several things...including several lovely water plants and 8 (yes 8) tadpoles who obviously lived by the motto...live fast and die young because those litttle fellers left beautiful little corpses with stumpy little frog legs. it is sad that they shall never have the chance to hop and jump over the lily pads and eat their tails, which is i have been told what tadpoles do in their final metamorphasis into frogs (north american bullfrogs to be precise.) i write with a heavy hand (due to my HUGE diamond that JJ gave to me as a token of our love) and a heavier heart due to my small pets lost last night to a savage raccoon who swam in our pond and ate the tadpoles. (sob) i am suggesting that you inform Linda of my loss and ask that she name her fish after my tadpoles as a tribute to those 8 little lives lost in the good fight! with this i suggest the name *pollywog* which instills both a certain cuteness and a soft lilt which i enjoy saying quite often. and you ask of newts...well they are lovely little creatures who do not really enjoy wearing hats. if you want a pet that would enjoy wearing a hat i would suggest going to your local pet shop and purchasing something of the monkey persuasion or a small chiuauha because at the moment on american tv there is something of a chiuahua phemomenon with a guatemalan guerilla freedom fighter chiuauah and apparently he wears the hat quite happily AND eats tacos. in addition you might find a more affetionate pet in a monkey or a dog then in a newt (please note that one should not put a monkey and a dog together as a dog-monkey fight might ensue) thanks for listening, still in mourning. Hi you're right. "Kites are fun" from "songs from the jet set"CD is a version from The Free Design. I think "bubbles" from Siesta Records is the best starting point 'cos there's no cd's or albums edited in Uk or US. Only in japan and japanese records are too expensive for europeans. Write to siesta records ( siesta(a)siesta.es) and ask for more information. Sinister: Everybody is happy, they are glad that they came

I meant to say this a few days ago, but it's good to see a mention or two of Rufus Wainwright. This is definitely a record that B&S fans should check out. It's pretty show-tuney, but that man has a voice that would stop time. And his sister's voice is even lovelier. The early 80's were the last time for great music on the top 40. I don't necessarily expect Jon to understand it (and I don't mean that as an insult at all). I just think that it makes a huge difference to have been a radio-listening junior high kid, taping Casey Kasem and waiting to find out what the new number one was (back in the days before a song could hold the #1 spot for 3 months, like it is now). But it's more that just nostalia...back in the heady days of 1992-3, I started co-hosting an early-80's show at my college radio station, and I realized just how *good* so many of the songs were. Sure there were some unbelieveably bad songs. But you have to push those aside...The '90's will be the same way. Sure, there's been some absolute crap, but there's been some amazing songs, too. And when the opening bit of "Loser" cranks out of the speakers at the '90's dances in ten years, the place'll go nuts. > ps as for B&S content, can we request where B&S will perform in the US? > Can I indulge in a large whisper and say Baltimore is the place to be?? Jose The compilation album "Songs for the Jet Set" that was put together by (repeatedly bankrupt indie label mogul) Mike Alway a short while ago features a rather jolly tune called "Kites are fun" in which a band by the name of "Tomorrows World" tell us how much they like flying kites. Might this be a cover version of your favourite Free Design tune? I think I may have to thank you for finding me something else to buy whilst I wait for beautiful Japanese pop to circumnavigate the globe and arrive in brown paper packaging at my door.
