Our new music improv collective entitled Castle Broadway will be playing tomorrow evening Sunday at 9 pm at the Estate in Milwaukee located at 2423a n. murray ave People that have experienced us live compared it to Sun Ra meets Steve Reich meets Brian Eno meets the Rachels meets latter John Coltrane with Alice if that helps any. This show will celebrate the release of our cd "Raymond Carverland" on Soutrane Records. This follows our debut 7" which received critical acclaim from Magnet and Alternative Press which compared to Sun Ra, Sonic Youth and Flying Saucer Attack. Hello listees! I thought I'd write a pensive tell all diary letter and please some of you. Then i thought of those who would be displeased by that and felt guilt twinges. I shortly got over that though. so. I shall be travelling overseas tuesday! to England! I've never been. I was going to go to a friend's wedding but the groom broke it off at the last minute and my ticket is non-refundable. so I am still going. Now I've got nothing to do in London, plus no-one to do it with. My friend Ben (the bride's brother) is not going; so I'll be pretty much on my own as far as companionship goes. Sad, eh? I thought so too. Any of you listees have ideas? No-one here is helpful; they all advise me to take advantage of the fact that I can legally drink in England. Which is all well and good. But I didn't buy a plane ticket solely to go to London and get pissed by meself. Come on now, that's pitiful. What are some good things to see? Will I be rejected by people as looking odd? Where's some nice used record/cd shops to find presents for myself? If I were to start a conversation with a person who looks interesting, will they cover their mouth, pointing and laughing at the stupid American making a fool of himself? WARNINGWARNINGBELLEANDSEBASTIANCONTENTAHEAD!! I thought I'd throw this in to make it relevant.. are there any shows in the timeframe Feb 9th-Feb14th? b&s would be lovely, but anything nice will do. It seems like there should be something of interest happening if only I could find out about it. I would kick myself for weeks if I missed a band playing only because I didn't bother to ask if they were playing... I wouldn't presume to ask anyone to meet me, only because I have no idea where I am staying, and i don't know anyone on the list well enough to ask them to put me up. But if any listees in the London area would like to meet me, well then, I'd do my best to find you! In case you don't already know, I'm 19, a guy, black hair, and apparantly twee, if that helps any. I'm also terribly scared about this overseas travel thing. Never done it before. ah, this is horrible. Sinister: The back of my mind

Hello pop-kids, Midterms went well, and now I must face another semester of boring, boring high school. But it all doesn't seem so bad, as I've just watched Charlie Chaplin's Gold Rush for the first time and it was very, very, very, very funny. In other news, my long wait to see Roddddddd on the Scottcam paid off! Oh, I admit I am one of those 16 year old girls who's been longing to catch a glimpse. Anyway, my story is this: First his roommate was doing the laundry on his bed. Then he left, and a figure appeared at the door, which I presumed excitedly must be our own Rod. Then he sat down and, oh he does look pensive while he's on the computer! Then he smiled the tiniest bit, and then he frowned a bit more. And then his whole shirt covered the screen because I presume he was in the process of turning off the computer. Who can tell.. the shirt was black. Then... he was gone. Oh it was magical. And now that I can comment on some new songs (new for me, that is), I will. I like Paper Boat a bit, but not a large bit. Now I know why Stu d usually just speaks instead of singing. It's a nice song, but nothing unique or superb that will make me chew my nails, which is what good songs do to me. Usually I don't really like Stevie's singing voice either, but The Wrong Girl is fantastic! It's beautiful, especially when he sings, 'I'm not what I could be, I need a true love'.. it's so emotional! I hope he doesn't try to sing like an opera singer like he does on TIGGERJAMMY when he records this. Or change the pitch of his voice at any moments, because this version is perfect! And I do hope it will be on the new EP, whenever that will be released... That's all.. Tami xxxx ps. I dunno who Tami Popsicle is, but that's my name, tootsie! so i think everyone misunderstood what i was trying to say about the nick drake documentary, judging by the response. i know it wasnt very clear, but i am a Bear of Very Little Brain, and long words Bother me. so, try again: i know that you dont have to be well off to appreciate the music. id just rather listen to the records than watch a load of posh people talking about how his skin was see through. basically what i meant was that while the beauty of the music transcends all boundaries the documentary... didnt. im sure someone must agree who can explain it better. but surely whoever said you dont have to be sensitive to appreciate belle and sebastian is wrong. otherwise, what was i taking those beatings for? i thought the smiths documentary was much better, just for the bits where johnny marr was being tactful about morrisey. sorry for any offence i may have accidentaly caused nick drake purists, from tjohn. Oh Evie, Evie! You little tease, you! I have been sitting quietly atop a grassy hillock overlooking the airport since last Thursday, and still no sign of you! I think I saw Chips though, being escorted off the plane. I wish I was called Chips. It sounds like a great time was had by all, especially Chips. I'm definitely not going to any concerts again ever, because I seem to get much more attention by not going. I don't know if that's good or bad. Who was interrogating my former bedfellows? Neice Lesley J, sorry for stealing your favourite fat bum quote. I've incorporated it in the script I've been daydreaming on the grassy hillock for a computer-animated modern fairy tale, starring Master Murdoch and Princess Isobel. It's called "Dinklestiltskin" and should be on general release in time for Christmas crackers. Nephew Jake, sorry for implying whatever it was I implied, I didn't mean to, it was just my way of saying "send me loads of freebies". Everyone gets Smashing Pumpkins freebies except me. Snot fair. Fluffy, Evie Sands is like Etta James, only completely different. I'm sure you'd dig. Yesterday I saw a feel good council house movie, "Among Giants". It didn't make me feel particularly good, but you do get to see Pete Postlethwaite's knob, which was a long-standing ambition of mine. I guess I should introduce myself also...My name is Kathryn and I'm from Jersey too...yes, I know it's a shame. I've been a fan of B & S for about a year now, but just came across this list about a week ago. I unfortunately missed the Philly show also, but that was only because I didn't have anyone to go with...you don't come across many B & S fans down yonder in S. Jersey. Thanks for the Twee homepage, whoeveritwas. I did'nt know there's a name for a what I am. That is - I already had 5 dates. Do I still count? Now I want someone to explain the difference between a twee, a geek, a nerd, a wussie, a trekkie, a jerk, a freak, a creep, and plain, run-of-the-mill, unspectacular but bespectacled shyness. Thank you. Oh, you're all going to cool concerts. I've been at a cool concert here too, because, there sometimes is, even in such a boring place as Paris. It was B&S at La Cigale. It was a big moment in my life, because it was the first time I met people who knew and liked B&S just like me (it was in the Dark Ages, before the Great Internet Connection), and even so many that there were no tickets left to buy there, and I didn't have one, because it was sold out years before, and everything was tragic, and depression fell over me and my good friend Anna, who had no more ticket than I. But then! There was a good woman, a british woman, and my good friend Anna, who also is a good british girl, was the only one who could talk to her, and so she did (for the others were all francais, and have you ever heard a French speak english? if not, be glad.) And the good good british woman said "woo, I'm waiting here for a guy, and me and the guy both have free tickets, for I'm not only a good british woman, but also an important one, and if he doesn't come I'll sell it to you, because you are so british" We were quite egoistic there and hoped that the important guy would not show up, and he did'nt!- maybe he became ill and couldn't leave the studio. So we had one for just 100 FF, and black people were sucking the blood of thin-skinned B&S fans by selling blackmarket tickets for 300 FF each. And we sighed and said: it's B&S, isn't it? - Yes, it is, and we won't be able to eat croissants in the morning for three weeks, but tant pis, and so we bought another ticket from a caribbean monsieur, and we were in! Roses shall lie on the path of the british madame, her car shall always start in the morning no matter how cold it is, and she shall always get promo import singles in the record shops! Will I describe the concert in detail? No, because I'm sure someone has done it before me, and I don't have to tell you they're great, anyway. At the end, a girl in the first row got a huge bouquet of flowers, because she looked so sad? I didn't get it from where I was standing. That would be a charming reason anyway. Then someone from the band said something in French or at least he tried, and everybody laughed, because the french think that people who cannot speak french have pas de culture du tout, n'est-ce pas. They think French is such a great language that every language should sound just like that, and that's how they pronounce it, then. Oh great - now I have offended all the French sinistreux - but no, you're not like that, french B&S fans. oh! but I do popkids, I really do. I care about the steam on the windows of the cafe, the splishing of the buses through the rain, about the damp mornings and the ghosted evenings. And I've had enough of it. I wanna dye my hair purple black, and join steps, and WRITE IN BLOCK CAPITALS and not pay rent, and think gay dad are any good and not understand Proportional Representation and spend my evenings swigging thunderbird in the town square and not care about anything....what's the secret? Eh? You bastards? I feel as pop as the pope, and as vibrant as mother theresa. I want to be perfect for three minutes, and totally disposable. I wanna be young. Anyway.....wha' fettle, bonny lads? Canny, I trust. Sorry 'bout all that. It's the job you see. Looking after child actors makes you feel very old, very tired, and very poor. I chaperoned a fifteen year old girl yesterday, who in two weeks time, records her first CD (not LP, daddio) for RCA. In a month or two she'll be on the lottery show. In six she'll be 10 times richer and a million times more famous than a certain flame-haired troubador. And she's entirely thick and boring. And almost entirely talentness. It's all rather depressing and unjust, isn't it? When I was fifteen I grew some sideburns. It's not quite such an impressive achievement really. Hoorah! though. 'cause it's nearly spring, and the days will yawn, and stretch themselves out all over the summer. And we'll bask in the dappled green of some quiet park and let the sun gently cook us. And we'll all listen to the looper romp happily about on its album, and we'll all get Tigermilk again, and pretend for a moment that we're right at the beginning ,and think about what we haven't heard yet, and we'll all buy the Isobel album and, oh. Anyway, that Nick Drake doc was a bit shite, wasn't it? As an exercise in missing the fucking point it really takes the biscuit. And the footage from the 'tribute' gig was toe curling. Mind you, I didn't know that the wall from that photo shoot was in Battersea, (mah manah.) I shall be spending my time off searching the streets of SW11, kids, and I'll report back when I find it. Maybe even with some photos. No, actually. no. Anyway, respect to the sinister massive. Maybe, if I convince my boss, I'll be a webmaster soon, and I'll be able to be on topic, and brief, and funny in a posting more often stylee... But 'til then I'll be off again. I'm off to write a poem to Nicky Wire, and be rude to my parents.
