Correct me if I'm wrong, but tickets to All Tommorrow's Parties go on sale June 5th right? Does anyone know if they will be available via the internet again? I never recieved any responses to my query as to what bands were rumored to be playing, so I guess I'm buying the passes blindly. Oh well...a wee adventure would do me good I suppose. Hello List! This is my first post. I've just finished browsing through the enormous list archives - really enjoyed them! The few other lists I've visited tended to be more on the dull side, comprised mostly of VERY boring discussions about a band or tour: this list is infinitely more interesting! I was especially amused by some of the more humorous subjects and threads discussed here i.e., rumors, dreams, picnics... and what's with all of the smut talk - specifically, "arms of sex & thighs of sex"? Who, or what is being referred to here? Please enlighten me. Good to see that we have some Go-Betweens fans here! I've always thought of the Go-Betweens as a primary influence on Belle and Sebastian as well as many other contemporary folk-pop acts. In fact, some friends and I will be seeing Robert and Grant on tour this summer! Wouldn't it be brilliant if one day Belle and Sebastian shared the stage with the Go-Betweens - imagine both bands palying together on a Byrds or Dylan tune. Seeing Mercury Rev next week - can't wait! Sinister: guess what i found today!

fr those who have had a rather shitty day, much like i have, here is an adventure of sorts which helped cheer me up. there's a bit of belle and sebastian relatedness to this at the end, so read the whole thing or just skip to the end. on the walk home from work at the sandwich shop today, i was picked up by my good friend and bandmate chris and was promptly kidnapped. rather than driving me home he decided to go the opposite direction and take me down one of the state highways. as we sped down the highway, chris's new driver's license burning a hole in his pocket (to be quite honest i highly doubt he even was carrying it), along the way at some point we stopped at a health food/ vitamin supplement/ vegetarian emporium, chris being a vegan and all. as chris went to get some kava kava to get fucked up the "all natural" way (nice vegan philosophy), i scanned the racks of rather unnatural nutrition bars, hoping to find a granola bar or some sort of regular snack...it was about 4:30 and being a diabetic i needed nourishment. the insulin was kicking in and with the sudden bursts of activity i've been having lately, hypoglycemia has been knocking quite frequently. as i looked for a snack i stumbled upon a box of tigermilk bars...honey and peanut butter tigermilk bars. as i smiled with delight as thoughts of sinister folk romped through my head, i wondered when the us release date of tigermilk is set for. last i heard it was june 8. it's been bumped to a later date, has it not? well, to end the story abruptly, chris did his kava kava and nearly hit a mullethead in a pickup truck on the drive home. it was the most fun ive had in weeks. my point is...when is tigermilk going to be in my hands? Allo allo, This was a weekend of both just and unjust events. On the positive side, Joe Royle's Blue and White army finally made the first of their big leaps on the road back to the premiership. Speaking of which, can I just say "YEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS"? I can? OK, I will. YEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS. Thank you. Masochistic? Pah. Sadly though, not everyone is schooled in the ways of true righteousness. I'm talking of the crime of Eurovision, which saw the rightful heir to the thrown, the Icelandic entry, denied by that bloody Swedish harpie. I woke up on Sunday convinced it had been a bad dream, and that my little Icelandic Lorelei had got the recognition she deserved. Alas no. The IKEA boycott starts here. In the tradition of Abba, my arse. And what was that German effort all about? Bloody crawlers. I must say, I don't approve of this "singing in English" bollocks one bit. It's so much more EXOTIC when it's all in foreign. Which reminds me, Mr Stuart Gardiner, what's all this crap about not taking Eurovision seriously? This isn't one of your "so bad it's good" kitschathons - this is ART, and don't you EVER forget it. I demand passion from my entrants. As it were. I think Roolz may go for Eurovision next year - I'm penning our definitive Euro anthem as we speak, and Joss and I are going to pull Keith and Warrander's detachable kilts off, Bucks Fizz style, midway through the performance, to reveal their special edition Roolz posing pouches beneath. Anyway La Wumpette and myself ran away to a Hebridean idyll for our anniversary, where we ate loads of cake and I fell over in a peat bog and she laughed at me. I also fell over on some rocks whilst trying to look at some delightful seals who were frolicking and gamboling in the water, and she laughed at me again. And I bought a lighthouse. Every journey we took in the Tagmobile took at least twice as long as it should have done, because we kept having to stop every time we saw a "sheepie-weepie" or a "moo-cow". The journey home was turned into a rollercoaster of pop thrills by this year's Booker Prize winner - "The Pop Quiz book", a snip at two quid from the ferry shop. My knowlege of the Lieutenant Pigeon back catalogue surprised even me. Keith, I hereby challenge you to a duel, specially modified pop brains at dawn. On guard! It's the advert with some bright colours moving around a white background and some film in the middle. the song sounds like it's sung by a Japanese woman. I really want it! I took the list's advice and went back and re-read Franny and Zooey over the weekend and I agree that Franny is much better than I initally gave it credit for. It made much more sense and seemed infinitely more clever this time around so I apologize for spewing such nonsense earlier. Please have pity on humble soul and give me a good thwacking when next we meet... On an more "sinister" note: I woke up with "hat head" today...is this possible? Now, I'm used to waking up looking like an early 70's Rod Stewart or a Heronimous Bosch painting brought to life with my hair appearing to explode off my scalp, but this is new beast entirely. I look as though I was wearing a hat all night as there are clear indentations. Either than or someone saddled my cranium and rode roughshod on me whilst I slept like a babe. I'm not one to go adventuring in my sleep, but I don't know...has this happened to anyone else? I think I'll have to start sleeping with one eye open. Boo to the business world, and sorry for the Devo line as the subject but I've been spinning their greatest hits recently and I think its top notch! Steve C. PS- I finally got off my arse and picked up the Gentle Waves and Looper records and I love them both.
