It took me about half an hour to work out, and I'm very proud of it. It goes too fast, and it is in the wrong key, but I don't care. It's still the most constructive thing I've done for months. Now when my phone rings I get a warm fuzzy feeling as it reminds me how much better my taste in music is than that of the plebs around me. Or not. Anyway, if you're curiosity is stoked and you can't live without a mogwai ringtone yourself - and I know that this is the case - then you should make your nokia ringtone composer screen look like this: 8c1 8d1 4e1 2b1 4- 8c1 8d1 4e1 4b1 4c1 2g1 Quite 'how' you input that, I can't bloody remember, so don't ask. Sinister: could you sleep at a time like this?

When everyone on Sinister is asleep, late at night, like now, I like to creep in and leave notes in their spiral binders. This one is with blue ink. My favorite color. (translation: favourite colour) I should be asleep too. When i wake up, i will paint super-cool racing stripes on my Vespa. Forest green stripes. To blend in while riding thru the woods. Jo (my love) is nowhere to be found tonight so i gotta ride like the wind. Love is a battlefield. Did you know that? And tomorrow night will be bittersweet, it's the last time i'll play drums with my beloved band. Because i quit. To take up eukulele and be a singer, a front man. Lucky thing i have a good front. But the line "i hit the drums for the final time and i walked away" still rings in my ears, and will tomorrow nite i'm sure. But we've got some surprises up our collective sleeves, you know. Something so sad about the last cigarette too, you know what i mean? Like there's nowhere to go from there but to sleep. But if someone's waiting and you can't hear them.... waving and waving goodbye.... how do you bridge such a gap? With flowers? Mail-art? Shampoo? We all want to fly, but we can't, and only my pen runs. Nothing doing. Fiona asks: "are you a freak or a freek?" and i can't quite formulate an answer. Maybe her guess is better than mine. But she has these shoes that are two-tone red and black, so she knows duplicity. The things we do for a bottle of the red at half past midnight has no suspense. When rain beads off the windscreen and reflects the traffic lights in arcs, i miss the other one. Sitting on the vinyl seat, waiting for something to come save me from all this rain. It's so easy to drown, even when you don't want to drown. Keep the chins up, kids. good morning/good afternoon/good evening sinister folks, last night i went to a benefit for townes van zandt simply because Stuart Braithwaite and David Gow were going to do a solo set. after i had downed five glasses of the FREE BEER, the two took the stage and Stuart sung almost all of the Mogwai songs that have words, and generally plucked strings, with the exception of the last song, which was a cover, that he totally jammed out on in true mogwai fashion. I was pleased by the alone. It had already been a good night. Then Bob Nastanovich walks right past me and my buddy. Please do not take this lightly: if any body is The Fucking Man, it is Bob Nastanovich. Anyway, i had no idea that stars of this caliber were going to be there, but luckily, i had Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain and Westing by Musket and Sextant with me. We waited till Bob had received his beer, and then asked him if we might have his autograph. There has never been anybody more enthusiastic about signing an autograph. He also talked to us for quite a bit, us having common ground and all, that is all parties grew up in good old Rochester, New York. I actually went to high school with his next door neighbor. After all that, he gave myself and my friend huge bear hugs, and told us that Steven should be around somewhere too. *Holy Shit* However, before we met up with Steven, we ran into Mark Ibold. Conversation was as follows: "Hello Mark, it's a pleasure to meet you" we shake hands "We were wondering if you wouldn't mind signing a few autograph's" "no, no not at all" we hand him the album sleeves "How did you know we would be here?" "Didn't, i carry these around with me where ever i go, they're like my bible." "yeah" indicates CRCR "this is our best album, i think, but my personal favorite is Wowee Zowee" "my favorite is Wowee Zowee" He was super cool too. But alas, the lead singer was standing against a wall off to the side. It turns out Steven is a bit of an asshole, but that is to be expected, as lead singers usually are. He signed too, though. 3 out of five. Not bad. Meanwhile, my head was spinning, and then evan dando steps on to the stage and played about five covers. One of my best friends is completely enamored by him. So on a piece of writing paper, i asked him to, and he wrote out in huge, nearly illegible handwriting: Dear Susan, I love you, Evan Dando. Apparently he's a lawyer now. Heroin Addict Rock Star cum defense attorney. anything's possible. Then ben lee played, got off the stage and totally disrespected his girlfriend, claire danes. Where ever they went he was four steps in front of her and completely ignoring her. my friend and i called him a phony, dingo fucker, then we left as the show was over as well. Sinister: How can i be homesick when i'm already home?

Hello all, hope you are all fine. After a mini-debate with the legendry Jen about which is better: buses or coaches, I have to admit that my opinion has differed and I now prefer buses. Having spent the last week down in Glasgow Ive spent quite a lot of my time recently on buses and coaches. 4 and-a-half hours the journey took down to Glasgow. Thats 4-and-a-half hours of sheer boredom. Mind you, I was quite excited for the first half-hour. At least I had half the coach to myself.... The journey back up this afternoon was only 4 hours. That was a novelty. The coach was jam-packed as well. I had so little room, and there was condensation on the windows with the amount of bodies. Buses are far different though. In Glasgow you get the privilege of getting a free paper. And even if you have to sit beside someone on it, you still have the comfort that you are only going to be on the bus for half-an-hour at the most. Changing the subject, Glasgow was grate. Wednesday was so Fabby. That was the first time I had actually met a fellow B&S fan. Hence the excitement before which nearly had my head through my aunts ceiling. Myself and Jen went to laserquest and went round the city centre and stuff. It was grate when the pigeons were coming right up to us. You could tell they were the big hard city birds who arent scared of people (much) unlike the soft country ones. I fed the the birds stuff too Jen, its just you bought a horrendously large roll so you had more to give. My step-sister seen me with my pink boa Eilidh on. And so my whole family knows. But it doesnt bother me, coz I wouldnt have bought it in the first place. Jen got some glitter on me, but no make-up. But if I had gone that far, why did I draw the line at the make-up? Next time Im all yours. ;) Happy Birthday Amy, even though it was yesterday. Im sorry. It was good meeting Ally & Carey as well. Hello to you two. Hello as well to Jason, even though I only seen you for like 30seconds. Me & Jen never went busking :( I was eventually looking forward to it as well. I had to be content with playing B&S songs on the guitar at my aunts for my visit. I couldve had money thrown at me for stripping in the streets. Ah, the welcome streets of Inverness! I had to be content with playing B&S songs on the guitar at my aunts for my visit. I sent my phone away to get fixed or replaced. At least when I had my broken phone I could still hold it. Im missing it bad (6 and a 1/2 hours already!) Tea.I'm addicted to tea. This next point i've been dying to let loose for weeks&weeks: Ian Nicholson, I laughed at your Joe Tortolano joke! I've just been too ashamed to admit it until now. I'm away to hide in the corner now ;) Ive decided I post far too frequent, much to the delight of most of you. Sinister: Couldn't cope if I crashed today, all the things I forgot to say...

Hi guys. Skip this first section if you like, but make sure you read the little headered bits nearer the bottom... I've been on a sort of mad rollercoaster of emotions over the past few weeks. Forgiveness is begged from so many people for being a complete tit most of the time and getting upset over small things like girls and big things like girls <grin> I have come to the following conclusions about my life: *Tom McRae has the power to save me. This guy is amazing. Go to www.tommcrae.com and listen to the sound files. Then buy the album. *I will no longer hug people. JenOwl (as she said in her post) had to force herself upon me. I will not even hug the girl I care about most, because it just makes me sad <smiles> But seriously, hugs are bad - promising things that never occur, and occuring things that are never promised. If you know what I mean. *My agression level seems to rise in proportion to how much I'm at work. I get quite angry about things at times now - I've almost started to stand up for myself. I pity the first recipient - it'll be like being savaged by a duck... *I have decided to go to the doctor finally. My lungs, heart and head all have some problems in one way or another, and it's time to get things fixed so I can be healthy and happy once more. *This goes for my missing front tooth too - it's time to conquer my fear of the dentist just as soon as I can afford it... My my, I haven't posted here in a while... Andrea, your post reminds me of something (gather round kids, this is a pointless story)... 2. I remember the dead of winter that my family moved into a new house. It was January, so the sun would set at 4:30 in the afternoon. Pretty depressing, but very Canadian. It was icy cold. The kind of cold where you step outside and it doesn't seem too bad at first, but the chill slowly seeps through your clothing until your fingers and toes get numb and you must stand perfectly still because it's just warmer that way. Movement means you open up your clothing to the cold air. I had borrowed Paul Simon's Concert in the Park from the library and listened to that very frequently around that time. Soon, it became the sound of the new house for me. I'd always be playing it. It felt comforting, I guess. My fondest memory of that time, though, is shoveling the deep snow off the sidewalk in the darkness of a winter night and listening to "America". Great tune. BTW, thanks, now I've got that damn "If I Fell" stuck in repeat mode in my head. Argh!!!! Oh, has anyoned listened to the Rutles? Great band. Miles ahead of anything the Beatles ever did. harhar. hi, Sorry for two posts in one day, but I had two things to discuss: 1. Has anyone read anything by Lynda Barry? For example, her novel Cruddy, which is amazing, or her comic book, the Best of Marlys. She also has semiweekly comics on salon.com. She is, again, amazing, and so REAL. 2. Does anyone here ever ride the bus or sit around listening to the same song over and over again on cd repeat until you don't even hear the song anymore except every once in a while? There are a few songs that I have done this in the past with that stick out. One is 'If I Fell' by the Beatles, from their album "A Hard Days Night", which I listened to about 50 times on an hour long train ride out of the city. The current one that I keep doing that with is "America" by Simon and Garfunkel. Hello Sock Monkeys and Sinister Folk, Of course, you should share this with your sock monkey friends; the ones who aren't on the list. Or, for instance, your sock monkey friends who don't have email addresses, and therefore, cannot read the sinister digest on a regular basis as we can. My sock monkey friends aren't that interested in reading, unfortunately, just looking at pictures. They don't even really have much of an opinion about music, from what I can tell, since they don't seem happier or more sad when I put on things like Belle and Sebastian. But then again, maybe their taste in music is just so far off from mine that they haven't heard anything they like at my house. Does anyone else have a sock monkey? They are just so interesting looking, I think. Also, I can't have a cat at my apartment, so they are like pets, sort of. Pets that don't move, that is. But they are fun to make clothes for. Maybe I'll take a picture of them and post it on the internet sometime. I've got pages and pages of Modern Art History and History of Women in Medieval Art to read since midterms are the next few weeks. Yay. Some of it IS interesting reading though. Right now I'm sitting at home doing laundry since I have no Friday classes and my clothes are all too dirty to wear. Except for a sweatshirt that says "maiden of the raven clan" on the front, which I am not. What are sweatshirts called in England? I heard once that sweaters are called 'jumpers' there. I like that. I feel really bad, because I've completely stopped playing FISHYCLAP on my radio show, and it's really good. But the station's copy was stolen (ooh, do I hate you, B&S cd thief!!), and my copy is perpetually lost, and my record of it is completely WARPED from sitting on a turntable near a window for a mere FEW HOURS. Hey Kittens, Just a quick one (wahey!). Does anyone have any short stories or poems they want to conribute to a website I am doing for my degree.
