I was in there today 'cause it's a nice place for studying and they were playing something from belle and sebastian (sleep the clock around, I think). Guess it was on some mix tape supplied by the company. Are they on many of these in-store music system thingies now? Sinister: snow and slush

Everyone that just got out of the nursery is posting so i figure this a good time for myself to finally do the same. i got out of it a while ago though....a bit nervous. my name is jennifer, too common of a name. i never liked it growing up cause someone would call "a jennifer" and it never seemed to be me. so i learned to never look around when called. i go to rutgers university in new brunswick new jersey and i am somewhat okay with that. i plan to move north when i graduate though. i work two jobs and am too involved with school stuff that it started to intrude in my social life, losing someone that i was "seeing" last semester. i liked him too. the first time i ever heard belle and sebastian was about a year and a half ago(?) in a friends dorm. i was really impressed and instantly went out and bought sinister. i dream of the day i get to see them..i think i got into them only weeks after they were here...grrr. i emailed them and asked them to play at my school but i don't think they are interested cause they never mailed me back. but i guess that is it... i am happy to finally post it is still snow and slush here which makes for some messy walks around campus. i hope it is better tomorrow. jenn +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the undead Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail "sinister(a)missprint.org". Beautiful people! School starts again (for me) to-morrow; the snow's almost gone: spring must be coming, which means that I ought to be digging through my laundry-heap looking for anything pastel. I sat on a train last night completely mesmerised by the conductrix's metallic-pink nails--quite the shade of chocolate, egg-shaped candies. It's now my third semestre, and I'm fully prepared to relive the awful disappointment of not finding a single Classics professor who wants desperately to sleep with me. This is a bit outdated, but I'd like to say that I like the English language. Quite much, thank you. This being because, although I fancy I can flirt tolerably well in French, my conversational knowledge of said language comes only through pop music, the labels of beauty products and Canadian foods (which I find in New York frequently), and Balzac's Comedie Humaine; as such, I'm sure I sound like a fool. Although not much more foolish than when I say 'Your eyes enchant me,' or something of similar romantic grandeur. Showing us how well diaper-trained she is, Radiation girl expressed: > I have not been in love with > anyone for three years at least - except with imaginary people. Count Rost�v is indeed a fine fantasy-lover; more so than any other boy in any other Russian novel that I've read. I would at this point like to recommend War & Peace to everybody here who can stomach a long book (with the hope that a popular movie will be made of it, spurring the publication of many abridged versions, much like they now do with _Les Mis�rables_, which, although of necessarily inferior quality, will make the experience slightly more accessible to those of us who can't). And I would also like to opine that love for fictional characters is perfectly constructive. I've had an on-again/off-again sleeptime love-affair with Robert Lovelace (of Richardson's _Clarissa_'s fame) for nearly two years now, even though every bit of sense I have tells me that he's wicked in a bad way. And something dead, too, if the text of the narrative is to be believed. Lastly, I recently acquired a pair of lovely striped jeans without accounting for the improbable length of my legs. Having got them home tonight and tried to think of ways to lengthen the trousers, I'm quite convinced that the thing cannot be done in a fashionable manner (which, when dealing with striped trousers, is of ultimate importance). I would like to offer them, *completely free** to anybody who wants them (although, in the case of more than one person caring for such an article, a haiku competition may be resorted to). I imagine they'd fit a slight-figured person, five-and-a-half feet tall. so i finally got out of the nursery. i thought i would have a lot to say, but no, i'm still my same old self. my name huey, i'm from singapore, but i now study in perth, australia, both of which are b & s deserts. i'm currently back in singapore for a month-long holiday. i had forgotten how much i disliked the country in the first place and only remembered the good things. or maybe it's just because i'm missing the big day out, where i could have caught primal scream and stuff. so would the list be considered 'twee' or 'grate'? Mushi mushi, everyone - I have finally graduated from the nursery. And now I'm here there were so many things I wanted to say, but do you think I remember them now? Of course not, that would be an example of a good memory - that which I do not have and probably never will due to my high consumption of Coopers Ale. I'm writing from Adelaide Australia where it is extremely hot (as you know now), and I do have sympathy for you all suffering in snow. Though I am kind of jealous - I have never seen snow before. Ever. Yes, really. But I have eased my feet in the sea many a time. Anyway, the snow thing has got to me recently, and so has the travelling bug, so I decided where better to see it than Britain, and my fathers homeland (Russia) I'm heading over at the end of this year, and cannot wait to go to all these groovy B&S clubs you guys talk about all the time! I'm keeping a list, believe me... and maybe I can hunt b&s down (subtely, of course) and try to make them do a tour of oz. Quite frankly, I was quite shocked to hear that they have toured the US and not here. CLUBS Speaking of clubs, if you ever come to Adelaide you'll be quite pleased with Velvet, and POP! - especially the former as Chris, Jackie and Lara the dj's I make play b&s til the cows come home (do b&s ever mention animals in their songs? my mind is blank) - well, I would but they all get sick of me. I hate to say it, but I may have single handedly turned everyone in Adelaide against them due to my unhealthy obsession. This is quite evil - please forgive me, I didn't mean to do it..... WORK While I write I am at work, and I know I shouldn't have sinister sent to my work address but otherwise my inbox at hotmail would be permanently full and I would never get to reply to any of you! REPLY Idle Berry - I love Norwich! Well, I love the people anyway! We had a group of five Norwich lads stay with us in our 2 bedroom flat in 97-98 (one of them was shagging my flatmate) and I have to say they are the most lovely travellers I have ever met. And Planet Norwich by Roy & HG was also a fantastic show - I always watched out for the boys in the audience, but alas! I never saw them! We also had a lovely lad from Glasgow stay with us kilt & all (he dragged it all over the world with him, would you believe?) Very strange... Mark Whitney " I keep falling in love I cant help myself. I guess it's just because my life is so lacking in romance and the like such as a nice man (or woman, I have tried that before, but it wasn't what I was looking for). Yes, it's sad that I can fall in love with a character from a book, but my life is sad......I miss nice people; nice boys; my ex from 3 years ago (I must admit - I feel I must be truthful) Boo hoo..... Yes, I think I will cry now. I have also fallen in love with songs - namely rollercoaster ride and ease your feet in the sea. Maybe that's why I'm obsessed by b&s..... DIRTY DREAM NUMBER 2 Would you believe this is soooo like my friend Lara? She met Sean Hughes when he was out for the Fringe Festival years ago (admittedly he was only out for a shag, but he didn't get one as she had a boyfriend) and they have remained friends ever since. He came out solo year before last and we had drinks. He really is a lovely guy - I had just broken up with this wanker Drum & Bass head (need I say more?) and Sean was lovely to me and gave me a big hug and insisted I would be fine (it was only a matter of hours before I was balling in his show because he was chatting about how relationships are a waste of time and you will never find anyone, you just go from person to person when the old gets boring). Babbling Yes, I have been babbling - I'm sorry but I feel like I've found a new home with you guys, and I actually have something to say that makes sense to more than one person out of ten. HOUSEMATES I know how you feel. I live on my own now. It's just easier that way. Corpora - >P.S. it's scary how they actually found the cure for depression, isn't it? What's unreal is how well it works. I have friends who used to be on the brink who talk about Zoloft like it's their best friend. All I can say is that, to anyone who's had it, there's nothing beautiful at all about depression. It sucks. I'd be happy to see it wiped off the earth. Sad is sad, but depression is death. The little girls understand.< Yes, the little girls DO understand... I've talked long enough. I've been at work all morning, and I have not done a thing. So off to work now. Hi Everybody, Our Oon definitely has to give Mr Chris a monster hug & congratulations, coz he played a blinder at The PoCaff on Friday night. Picking like Robin Williamson (when he was good) & singing like, I dunno, some bloke who can sing really well. 9 original gems plus a couple of covers, including Pancho & Lefty, as also recorded by Emmylou Harris & er, Evan Dando (sorry). Set list to appear on the web soon. Or maybe very much later :) If you weren't there, its a shame, but you could compensate yourself by buying his latest release from http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~calnd/sleeka/sleeka.htm for a ridiculously give-away price. The Foxgloves were also tops - their first electric set provoking an entirely spontaneous & unrehearsed "Judas!" "I don't believe you, you're a liar!" exchange between Trousers & Hopkins. In the restaurant earlier the waiter could smell that we weren't going to give a big tip, & Honey said that he was able to sniff out who the senders of bum pictures to the bodyparts page were. Bodily Fluids page soon come. Mick Cooke supplied the Belle and Sebastian content. What a nice man. And what's wrong with trumpet-playing bands,anyway? Thanks to all who had a hand in organising a fine evening - I may go again.
