hello everyone, how are you all these days? i am sat at home listening to "seeing other people" and whistling along with the rather wonderful piano intro......it's enough to make me wish i'd carried on with keyboard lessons at primary school...... but now i am in secondary school, at the end of 5th year and i am a mess. my so-called friends hate me because i have fallen out with my old best friend, the only girl that will speak to me i've known since i was three years old so she's more of a sister than a friend and to top it all off, i am in love with a guy who lives at he other end of the country and i hardly ever see!!! but he only sees me as a mate, so it is all so confusing! he adores b&s too (the only "real" b&s fan i know) and i miss him terribly....this is so depressing, so i ask you all, my fellow sinisterians (?!) for advice. how to i get through my mid-teen crisis? even listening to b&s isn't helping much because it only reminds me of *him* and i can't talk to my friends about it because most of them aren't speaking to me!!! aaarrrrgggghhhh!!!!!!! yours ever hopefully, littlebelleXXX (now listening to "the boy done wrong again" and in floods of tears, *sob*) +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the undead Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail sinister(a)missprint.org. March. Or die. Curious goings-on this morning. Found myself intercepted on an escalator at London Bridge tube by John Sessions and Elkie Brooks; forced into a cubicle, I was showered with sticky glitter and had my neck tattooed with an LT symbol. A goon with a face like fighting geese and breath like used swabs filled my pockets with loose change (as opposed to low-denomination coins all glued together), pressed Deep Heat into my temples and made me stand on a podium next to 'Kid' Jensen. Disorientated and nauseous, I glimpsed a small gathering of sour-faced children, waving tiny flags, while some kind of triumphalist wincecore jazzbo honked away down to my left. It gradually became apparent that I was to be honoured as the trillionth passenger on the Northern Line (Bank branch) and this was some kind of presentation ceremony. I got the vague impression I was supposed to rummage through a sack of ping-pong balls for a special key, and when I reached Moorgate I was to disembark and locate a prize-chest filled with bubble-wrap. Within a single poppable air-lozenge, there'd be a micro-Travelcard entitling three acquaintances (they were very clear on this - no-one I actually *liked*) and myself to unlimited weekend access to the Executive SubTube - a network of HiSpeed Slinks 2km beneath the city streets. (Ever wonder why you never see Anne Diamond or Joe Pasquale squeezing their be-Guccied forms into a stuffed six-car at Hyde Park Corner? Now you know...). I'm off to Hackney Caldera (35 seconds from Deptford Fumarole) this Sunday with a middle-aged divorcee from accounts called Deborah (or Denise or something) from whom I once borrowed a stapler. I feel cheated somehow. Brush away, brush away, brush away... the SR way. How queer to see the late-80s MM aesthetic revived as a permissible topic of after-dinner conversation. Of course, such banter never fell out of favour in some postal districts. I think it's important to remember that the article PineFox liberally quoted was actually originally an extended think-piece *in* MM. Now, say what you like, but you don't see anyone attempting that sort of analysis these days in the weeklies, do you? I don't think Johnny Cigarettes vomiting 500 words on "Why we need another Clash" really counts. I get the feeling that, before my time, NME was a vital force, riding the punk torrents while MM laboured in the prog quagmire (I'm sure you could go back further - NME thrilling over the latest R'n'B imports, MM picking over trad-jazz LPs with an archivist's exactitude). By the time I was taking an interest, the post-Morley NME seemed to have slipped into stultifying greyness (the Lamacq years), while MM extolled everything vibrant and left-field*. Inevitably this led to yards of appalling daftness, gallons of embarrassing overstatement and a barn-door target for their near-neighbours' piss-taking. I lapped it up like a thirsty kitten. In some small but significant way, Reynolds, Stubbs, Roberts and the gang changed my notions of the pop experience, perhaps even the way I listened. Writing that was as superficially intoxicating, as texturally tangy, as preposterous and audacious as the music it celebrated. What happened after SR hung up his IPC gloves is the subject of my forthcoming tome, "Molko Looks Like a GIRL: Cessation of Brain Stem Activity in the UK Music Press, 1994-98". I blame the Sutherlands. (* But yes, as Nick D pointed out, The Cure were on the cover every sixth issue and The Mission would habitually top all the readers' polls. Go figure.) Hello all. Ah , excited noises! Just another one fresh out of nursery so here goes. firstly, what a lovely list this is. being shy and scared of the world in general it's so nice to have mail. anyway as its good manners i'll introduce myself. I'm an art student amonst other things and I first heard b+s when i was ironing so now whenever I hear TIJAMRS have a irrational urge to flatten out creases. I love too much music to list, Alice in Wonderland and cellos and .... I've just made a big hole in my finger with a fork. (Accidently) The fork was probably warning me to at least attempt something relevent, so ur, will stars of track + field be on any more tv sport adverts? i'd heard the rumor. i was in denial. "dickslap" was surely NOT going to come out of stuart's mouth. but oh yes. oh yes it did. (and i don't want to know what's going IN.) i think i'd pay to hear that come out of his mouth, acutally. oh wait, i will be paying. although not for the EXTENDED version b/c i am after all just a wee girl. hmm. i hope they haven't decided to just revel in irony or something and just make fun of themselves, or be purposefully rude and strange. then again, i remember seeing the track listing for IYFS and TBWTAS, thinking "what IS this odd british band that kimmy put on a tape for me which has songs like "dirty dream #2" and "get me away from here i'm dying." and then when i saw the eps with songs like "dog on wheels" (what the hell is a...?) and "LLPJ" i was like, clearly these kids are off their rockers. so... where am i going? oh, well, just that i'm not making any judgements till i hear the real thang, you know? i just can't believe it's judy that's the dickslap when jane is the one running around licking railings. i mean, really. good lord, sinistah overload. not really, i mean, can you have too much sinistah? but massive props and shout outs to matt/brian/laurel and jared for letting my suburban ghetto-wannabe ass sleep on yr floors, etc, when i managed to get myself on a train down to nyc. lovins to honey for being honey (although, sadly, no milkmaiding took place), and julie for knowing where all the best sanrio stuff is, and megan for making me and starry into film stars! er, yeah, that's about it. and by the way, i LOVE winter wooskie, and now that i know it's going to be released, i can better cope with the departure of StuD. i mean, i've got what i want, so let him go ;) love 'em and leave 'em, i say, as long as i get MY lovin, you know what i'm sayin'?? it ain't over til we both get our cookies. oh dear. i've officially lost it. not only that, but this post is nearly All Content. eek. right. that's enough of that. xoxo, ree ===== ************************************************************ "to me she was just marie." -mersault "hearts don't break/ the division is innate" -secret stars | eliam(a)alleg.edu | littlearsonist(a)yahoo.com | ************************************************************ __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Oh, joy! We're back to talking about B&S all the time. Personally, I think this whole dick slap thing was some sort of calculated move to get us to all start talking tunes again. Nothing like a bit of smut to perk up people's ears. So I have a confession. With each and every B&S news bulletin issued by Jeepster about the forthcoming releases, I am more and more sure that May and June will see the end of my B&S fandom. I'm sure (I *know*) that I'm in the extreme minority here. It's just that I was already a little wary about the new album after hearing that Stuart M. would be writing less of the songs, but...a Stevie-led "Northern Soul rave-up"? "Nice Day For A Sulk"? The album title, the song titles, the song descriptions, etc. Now, I'm not saying that the band shouldn't change. Change is good. But *good* change is good, and I just keep getting the feeling that this album is going to be mediocre, over-done and overly-retro. But then, I'm an idiot for saying all of this without hearing any of the songs first. I don't know...I just had to get it off my chest. It's a little sad. I really hope that I like the new stuff. Really and truly I do! I guess it's a real 'wait and see' moment, whatever the fuck that's supposed to mean. And what little jewel did I find in that last digest? > (Carolina's in the Sweet Sixteen... REPRESENTIN!!) > Ah, it's good to see March Madness extending to the list, however small it may be. And Rob's rooting for the proper team, too. If (don't want to jinx 'em) the Heels make it to the Final Four, I'll be driving down to Chapel Hill for the games, and maybe we c0uld plan some sort of sports-related Sinister meet-up. Hello out there Before being allowed to post I could get in touch via email with each of you, and I did in some cases with some persons, you know, asking stuff or chatting or whatever... And I have to say that I did get answers, nice ones, anyway I really feel like being surrounded by a thousand persons that I could possibly get one with... it's such a WEIRD sensation, I love it, I get more and more excitment everyday about opening my email-box... Sinister: Let�s try for the third time........(something interesting this time)

Hi, dear sinisterites.... I tried it on tuesday and yesterday......and the TWO DAYS this Mac from uni crashed....but I hope this time it goes well.... What I wanted to tell is that I spoke to both Richard and Chris last friday and saturday.....the DJ session at a club was GRATE...........and Richard was sooo nice with everybody....even when a girl came to ask him to play some Garbage songs..... And they played "Legal man" !!! good to read last Nick DastoorŽs post, because itŽs something quite similar to what he pointed. The song is much different than anything that they have done before....a soul tune, mostly sang by 2-3 voices (Stevie, Stu and someone else....), with some bits only sang by Stevie. People enjoyed it a lot. From the chat I had with them, the most interesting bits were: - "Legal man" is going to be the title track for the new EP. The other two songs are an instrumental ("Tigermilk" ?), and a "Stu D. song that was meant for the album" ("Winter wooskie" ?) - No plans for releasing either "Loneliness..." or "Landslide" yet. -"Fold your hands up child, you walk like a peasant": the title comes from a graffiti that Stuart saw on a toilet, somewhere in Glasgow. One of the twins on the sleeve has false teeth. - ThereŽs a big tour coming soon......from what iŽve heard, thereŽs UK, US and Southern Europe (Velocity, they mentioned Greece !!!) dates planned. - They donŽt have plans for re-organising the Bowlie again. It is supposed to be an event organised by a different band every time. And thatŽs all I can remember....If I have something else to post, iŽll let you know. Love and .....anything you want to......
