Hewwo. Everyone seems to be leaving sinister at the moment. Boo hoo :( Isn't the title of the new B&S album GRATE? (yes, GRATE, mr chris). But no Lord Anthony. I've not actually heard Lord Anthony, but I read the lyrics and thought they were beautiful. Really lovely. If the tune's nice, it could become my favourite song. This week, in school, I've been conducting a social experiment. Yes, I have decided to inflict my dazzlingly white knee high socks on St. Brides High School. I stuck at it all week, despite getting a bit of a kicking in the cantene the first day I wore them, despite being called Brittany Spears, despite loud and harsh laughter everytime I go by a group of hard kids, and despite the fact that I have crap legs, and my pleated skirt is slightly too small for me. I got new glasses yesterday. I don't like them that much, but they were better than the little square things that give me a big moon face. I wanted these really cool, massive, round brown owly ones, but in the end I had to get these other ones that are too tight on, and don't look at all nice. My friend stayed the night last night and we got a bit drunk on half a bottle of cider each ("no, mum, it really is apple juice"). We then phoned up Barry, the git, on a drunken impulse, but he wasn't in, so we talked to his sister, who's a moke. Then we stayed up all night watching Four Later and debating whether Chris Geddes would or would not be the perfect guy. Me arguing for and her complaining that she wanted to switch off the B&S videos, because, and I quote "They're all gay and don't you bluddy finish off all that cider, bitch" (she was only kidding on though), and watch her Blondie documentary. Then someone gave us a prank phone call and we ended up talking to him about the sex pistols. I don't like choir at all. Oh no. Because the chorusmaster is a moke. He is. He picks on me when my friends talk and get me into trouble. It's because I'm too honest to avoid getting caught. Like when I called him a bluddy moke, and he heard me. I'd better go now, and get some sleep. Sinister: the hours turn into days

Hello Sins, It's your once in a blue moon post from the crazy girl in Arkansas. It's Saturday and I'm a little hungover from last night's St Patty's festivities, even if I did get to bed at 10:30. Ah, the sad life of a working girl. It's my second (or is it third?) week in my new flat... which my flatmate Diana and I have decorated in a very fabulous manner. Lots of heinous turquoise and/or yellow 50s kitchen items and porcelain tiger planters... anyway, in that short period of time I have completely won her over to the wonders of Belle and Sebastian... I guess it's returning the favour she did for me years ago by introducing me to the Smiths. She in turn is spreading the news around to all of her friends... I was afraid that they may be too Punk Rock to like B&S but apparently not! Anyway it's been an altogether interesting week, from watching Fellini's "Roma" (a "visual fiasco" as one put it) with the boy I can't help lusting after even though he's a) a complete arsehole and b) only flirts with me when he feels like it... to becoming so hopelessly overwhelmed at work on St Pat's Day that I had to ring my friend Andrew's mobile in Ireland... on my parents' phone card. Pity is that he didn't even answer! Story of my life it seems. I'm really missing Dublin these days and wish I still lived there. That time will come again I know... Ah but I'm not depressed, it's March and that means Spring is coming! Springtime is the best time of the year... everyone is frisky and suddenly new boys pop up in the most unexpected places... it's the best season overall. Hmmm... can't think of a clever ending for this utterly pointless email - I suppose I should go shower so I can begin the massive task of tidying up the kitchen... one week's worth of filth is enough to make anyone's head turn! full track listing below : I think the title sounds a bit silly at first and you say thats daft and then you get the scolding nuances and then you appreciate the subtle pseudo-ironic tendencies in which by promoting such a stance , they are taking it down a peg but I still think a nice short title like "jumpers" would have been so much better. That person who said that reading things like DKJDFGKHFDGKHJDF gives you a headache is right. And when you already have a headache, having another one is the last thing you want. this time next week I'll be in edinburgh again. Yipee. My taxi driver this morning used to live in Edinburgh. We discussed various locations. He lived near Leith, thats where a boy my friend knows is from. I resisted the urge to ask the taxi man did he know that boy, knowing in advance he wouldn't and being sick of taxi drivers thinking I am strange. Because I'm not. Question : for comedy's sake would you ring up a boy who you used to i suppose be sort of seeing on a casual basis 8 months after you ever saw each other pretending that nothing had happened and that 8 months is not according to you too long to pick up the phone and say, "hey, wanna meet up tonight" You would, wouldn't you ! Oh come on, I think it would be hilarious and healing. What a combination to force you to do it. Well would you do it if you knew that your friends were very evilly going to stage a horrific surprise party for you on your return with people whose presence you hate and know from past experience RUIN parties, would you do it if that party could be guaranteed to happen if you didn't do it. I know this brings into play ethics and comedy which let me tell you can be a very lively discussion given the right circumstances but enough torture for those of you unable to scroll or skim read. hello all, it is late friday night in pittsburgh and i have just come from a big bash after the opening reception for an graduation thesis exhibit. i must say that i am very unhappy with some of what i saw. one piece in particular that i thought maybe the list might like to hear about. this grad student that i am sort of friends with did a piece that involved putting on headphones and carrying a discman around that gave you directions and talked to you about what you were seeing. sound familiar? well, probably not, unless you saw Janet Cardiff's fantastic piece at the Carnegie International this year, which was almost exactly the same, only much better and with video cameras and headphones. the thing is, this kid was her assistant setting it up! he helped her out and then ripped her off!! i was so pissed i couldn't really even pay attention to the piece very much, even the tone of his voice was similar. now i'm going to feel awkward when i see him, because i won't be able to say anything about his piece. damn. on a plus note my good friend riccardo, who left town last year to take up a faculty position near buffalo somewhere, came back to see the show (heart!). he's like the older hispanic brother i never had. on a wierd note, my highly esteemed genius professor was at the party tonight, completely smashed, hitting on my friends a bit, and asking me to take part in this big party he is organizing for the rites of spring. it seems to involve temple whores, virgins, blood letting (followed by consumption, gross!) and other sorts of paganish things. he wants me to come up with an appropriately hedonistic ceremony/performance piece for the party, and i am feeling a little uncomfortable about it all, i must say. oy! oh! i played "is it wicked not to care", along with a few of my songs, tonight at the cmu women's center fundraiser, and i guess it was live on the radio, which is kind of neat, maybe. ummm i guess that's all. i hope that this was interesting enough to send to the whole list. i always end up going back and reading honey's advice on what's worth posting, and not being able to imagine 1200 people careing about anything that i would say ever. so i just end up posting whatever dull stuff is going on. ohhh, oh oh oh!!! i almost forgot completely, SOMEONE GAVE ME A CRUSH VOTE!!! i am very excited. i am soo curious, but i would never ask someone to tell me. half the fun is being all goofy and trying to figure it out and giggling to yourself and feeling cool and lame at the same time. okay, bed time for l'il sam sweet dreams kids. love sam ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the undead Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail sinister(a)missprint.org. Sinister: i don't get along with scary movies

hello sinisterines. i can't hold back anymore, i just have to ask who gave me a list crush vote. please tell me, it's ripping me up inside wondering who the secret admirer is. but, since i know how sick you people get of hearing about list crush votes, i'll stop talking about it now. onto bigger and better things. have any of you seen the short films by/about tenacious D, "the greatest band on earth"? they showed them on Mr. Show (on HBO here in the US) a few years back, and i think they may have shown them on saturday night live, too. but since i don't watch either of those shows i have no idea how recently the short films have been shown. now, you may be asking yourself, "how would she know about these films if she doesn't watch the television programs they were aired on?" well, kids, the answer to that is quite simple: my friend's older sister taped them and i watched them at her house a couple years back. so there. :P anyway, the point of all this is that i'm becoming more willing to get past my dislike of john cusack to see high fidelity simply because one of the guys from tenacious d is in it. i'm not sure if it's a big part or not, but he's so funny i think i may go see the movie when it comes to town. and about the subject line: i've started renting movies now that i can watch them on my computer and i need something to do when i don't feel like working. last night i rented scream 2 because i was curious and i really like the first one. anyway, that was a mistake. my house of 7 people is empty because it's spring break, i live on the 3rd floor, and it was raining last night. i spent some portions of the movie lying on my bed with my pillow over my head. but, luckily, i rented dark city, as well, so that when i finally did go to bed i had pleasant images in my head instead of blood and gore. and knives. one of my favorite things about movies like scream is spending the bulk of the movie trying to figure out who's going to die, and who the killer is. i was so disappointed at the end when i discovered that i'd identified one of the killers in the first 20 minutes of the movie. bastards. they made it too easy this time. oh well. and figuring who would die wasn't so hard, all i had to do was see who the cast of scream 3 was and then figure that anybody who wasn't in that was as good as dead. ahh, but i'll stop all this talk of scary movies now. it's not very twee, is it? i'm actually just killing time until friends comes on. yes, i admit it, i like that horrible show. i think it's hilarious. i'm not sure why, but i can easily say that even if you hate most of the people in it (as i do), lisa kudrow makes it all worthwhile. i mean, have you people seen clockwatchers? or romy and michelle's high school reunion? fucking GRATE movies. i didn't think i'd like romy and michelle's . . . at first. but then a friend of mine sat me and some other kids down and forced us to watch it. after that, every time i went out to rent a video with a different friend, we inevitably migrated over to where romy and michelle's was, and now i own it. ;) alas, i've got nothing left to say, so i'll leave you be. -kerry "if you don't ask me out to dinner i don't eat." -stanley donwood +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the undead Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail sinister(a)missprint.org. Sinister: "My brothers...don't show favouritism"

Hmm. Feeling slightly shy about posting today for some reason. Tonight I am going to a night called Offbeat at our Union, where every band on the flyer is one of my absolute favourite bands. The reason I haven't been before is that none of them are my friends' favourite bands, apart from my friend Jamie, who doesn't like clubs. The reason I am going now is that a boy who one of my friends fancies is going. So. My friends are a bit fussy about what they dance to but I'll be quite happy just sitting with a pint listening to the nice music. Which I know I could do at home but, as I've said before, I like it when other people are made to listen to my favourite music. It's a Smiths special though and, although I like the Smiths, I do hope they don't play JUST the Smiths. Also I ordered some belle and sebastian badges but I'm a bit unsure about wearing them at all, let alone upside down. Maybe I'll put one on my bag or jacket or something. If you were tired of talking to someone by e-mail, you just wouldn't reply so often, right? Hello everyone. To celebrate my first message I thought you all might like to hear a little story, so here goes. "This will be a special day", thought William. "after all, its not often that I lay in bed eagerly awaiting the buzz of the alarm claock. Especially in summer. The clock struck seven and the alarm did its usual impression of the Duracell bunny after a stroke. William sprung from bed and quickly decieded that sleeping naked was not as macho as he had previously thought. Or maybe it was. He switched on the radio for some company but he ignored it just as much as if it was a real person. While the toast was burning William made himself fit for viewing. The fact that he had no butter will not deter him today. Armed with only a book of Keats' poems, a camera and bus fare he went to the park. Keats is best read in the park. William was not sure if it had been a special day or not. He'd fallen asleep under a tree whilst reading.
