I am unbelievably tired right now and probably still have bits of confetti in my hair even though I've showered, but it is all very well worth it because it was in the name of Looper. That is, I saw them last night. W!O!W! I was surprised at how many fans turned up, but most were from out of town it seemed. See, I'm young yet, so it was lovely to interact with people who don't look at me much like a deer in headlights when I mention B&S. The place they played was an old firehouse, it was rather nice. I'm embarassed to say that I think I'm going the way of every 15 year old I know, because I think I referred to StuD as "man meat" at one point. But even if he weren't, it still would've been gr(e/a)t(e). Whoever said that wee Karn isn't very wee was right, but if she isn't wee she certainly is twee, dancing about in the middle of the stage and tossing paper airplanes the wrong way round and standing in the gong-holder thing. I got an autograph from Evil Bob the bus driver who played sax on Columbo's Car and sold merchandise. He was very surprised but I told him he'd have to get used to it now that he's famous. I was disappointed that the Flaming Lips played only one song that I even knew. I only have one album, but still.. wah. And what's this gong fetish? My head was pounding, but they were good anyway. I suppose that's the only thing of any interest I have to say, so I'll end now although it's never stopped me before. Back to my mundane existance, daydreaming in school about the new Select that isn't here yet and writing happy birthday greetings to musicians on every bathroom mirror with lipstick. i was in the grocery store yesterday, feeling up my vine-ripened tomatoes, when i heard familiar sounds coming from the store speakers. i stood there for a while trying to figure out what i was hearing when it finally came to me... it was a muzac version of Nick Drake's "Northern Sky". i was stunned. it's so hard to recognize these songs when you here them... recreated... in such a way. anyway, it made me happy. does anyone else think going to the grocery is the most sensual experience? the sights, sounds, smells... i *love* it. i think i'll go back today just for kicks. i can't stop listening to the new Lambchop CD. its dead sexy. that and the new yo la tengo... and allan clapp. all of this music made for naughtiness! its a good thing i'm a naughty girl. So, how did we do yesterday at the whole betting ting. 2.00 - Bring Sweets - 13th 2.35 - Lady Rebecca - 6th 3.15 - Florida Pearl - 2nd 3.55 - Manhattan Rainbow - 14th 4.30 - Carandrew - Didn't finish 5.05 - Good Vibes - 5th 5.40 - Lord of Love - Non runner Six losers, plus the horse inspired by Mr Miller didn't turn up. Still, a profit of 90 pounds from 18 bets over three days = 50% profit. 90 pounds x 1200 people = lots of money. Maybe we should all get gold plated B+S badges that we can wear upside down to signal our new found wealth. Moral of the story - Gambling is good, healthy and a certain way to make lots of money. Anyone who works for a living is a sap. See you again for Cheltenham 2001. So I am home alone and I am not happy about this. I keep hearing sounds but I hope it is the rain....I hope. Anyway, I am on spring break right now and it has not been much of a break nor spring like. I have a paper to write and so much to read. Some of it is good though. It is rainy out and fairly cold. I brought home short sleeve shirts thinking that it was going to be more like it was last week but it isn't. I have worn one sweater all week. All I brought home this time was my computer, minimal clothes and four cds- Two of which are Belle and Sebastian, a good thing. I left my radiohead cds which was a mistake. I did not mean to do so. I talked to a friend today that had mentioned that he bought the singles thing that just came out. I have decided not to buy it, as I am going to ask everyone to buy me the individual singles for my birthday(good gift idea) in May. AGH, my birthday. I do not wish for it to come. I fear the twenties...I am just a baby, really. Word Up! This is Vilkas. I'm pretty new to the list but I feel as if I should divulge this information for everyone's good. We don't want any perverts in our midst. I've met a few of you online and I think that you'd feel the same way. So I got this letter from Splash. It was the thing that had the "favourites list to be forwarded thing" if any of you else got it. So that was fine. But when I got to the end there was the end part of a letter. It was pretty explicit; almost too much even for you nasty sinisterians.Here's a synopsis of the letter: Basically there was a situation that was being organised involving Splash, his girlfriend, a teen girl, a teen boy, and a sheep. I think the letter was to his girlfriend, I can't be sure tho. He was asking about whether he should buy either anal lube or normal (extra strength) lube cos anal only comes in cinnamon or cherry flavour while the normal comes in Pina Colada, Mango, or Whisky flavour. He also asked if the recipient of the letter if they've gotten the animal sedative yet. In the letter, condoms were mentioned, thank goodness. However arab straps, double-dildos, handcuffs, and rope, the good kind, were mentioned too. As well as "making sure we have Sean's and Debbie's over 18 i.d.s just in case the neighbors call the cops again". At this point I had to finish reading the letter, despite my shock. In the end he said "I must remember to delete this part of this my letter before I send it to the others. What would the other sinesteriens [sic] think of us. We'd surely turn into a list thread ". Sinister: I am tired, I am weary

Hullo chickens, My mummy bought a great (dare I say grate?) big Humpty Dumpty birthday cake. Not because it's anyone's birthday, or because she's twee or anything, but because it was cheap. A big cheapo Humpty Dumpty cake. I've got two days to eat it. It is, for the record, very very big. I have fallen in love with the girl from Lazy Line Painter Jane. I am disturbed. I'm also disturbed that I may well be in another country when Fold Your Hands... is released. Oh well. I'm not so desperate for new material, since until last week I hadn't heard any of the EPs, and now I've heard all the ones in the LLPJ box and TIJAMRS is in the post. So my insatiable cravings are quenched. Well, my B&S ones anyway. In keeping with my warped sense of fashion, I've ordered Nalda Said several weeks after every other devoted fan has. I had to spell it out to the guy in the bookshop. I don't know why, I mean who the f*** would call a book Nalda Zed? Has anyone else ever burst into tears for no reason whilst listening to the spoken bit at the end of I Could Be Dreaming? Or am I having a breakdown? This is probably just an ignorance of netiquette (dread net geek word), but how does one know when to stop sending people e-mails? I mean when someone writes to me, it's only polite to write back. Then they get the reply and it's only polite to reply to the reply, and so on. I suppose if someone gets tired of hearing from me they could always tell me to f*** off. But that wouldn't be very twee now would it? Incidentally, I think I read in Select the best definition of twee ever, I go and find it... Oh bollocks I can't find it. Something to do with a world inhabited, not by women and men, but by girls and boys. My brain really hurts when people abbreviate song titles (erm, like I have above. God I'm such a hypocrite, but I'm writing this post over the course of, like, a week. Which is why it's fragmented and inconsistent). I end up sitting there (or even here) squinting at the screen going "HFEJFJ?, KGDBLBF?" and it takes me half an hour to read. Not grumbling or anything. Just observing. Oh, and I've decided to drop my Mr Smiley pseudonym for my posts on sinister. This is because I remember a message I got from someone calling themselves 'assassin' ages ago complaining that he'd been receiving my sinister posts. So I wrote him a reply with the heading "Dear Mr Assassin" to take the piss out of his assumed name. So I'd better get rid of mine. Unless I can think of a better one. Which I can't. Sinister: the whole edinburgh thing

well guys, whattya know, there i was messing about on thecomputer one night and this girl caroline hey mails me. Hey it said. Wanna go to edinburgh? Yes yes yes I replied , frantically pressing lots of buttons because I am a little unsure of how to operate the whole full screen talk thing. In doingthis, i logged off, which must have looked like a cruel and deliberate snub to the poor thing. Oh which reminds me, a girl called Sarah suggested that we throw her a surprise party in mel's party with all the guys ! i'm not joking ! Caroline will be so pleased, but ssssssssh listy peoples don't ruin the marvellous surprise. Oh and if you see her , just try to keep a straight face because she knows nothing of the surprise, she thinks the only surprise is me going to edinburgh with her, which incidently we booked at an exorbitant price but who cares. Being impulsive and rash and taking random holidays right before greek tests is fun, way more fun than maintaining a semblance of tweeness 24 hours a day. Oh and today I got my greek teacher in trouble by ratting on him to the head of the department. No no, not about THAT, I merely said that he said i had no linguistic ability which the head thought was a TERRIBLE thing to say. I tried to get out of it (being a lie) but what's said is said now. Well its paddys day tomorrow, have the flagons and the shoulders of vodka at the ready, I be the one in the just-back-from-the-lauderette-coat which I had to bring there after my horrific falling in the mud incident. would anyone like to go to Negociants on sat (next week) night ? My boyfriend Alistair works there. He's dreamy. sorry about the abuse of list. I just had to tell someone about caroline's surprise party without ruining the surprise for her.
