***anal, trainspottery question which took far less than 15 minutes to compose.*** My copy of "Legal Man" is an American one, and in the inner sleeve, amongst all the stuff on the desk, is a calander with "16" on it. Now ... Legal Man came out on the 16th in the US. What I want to know, fellow listees, is whether the UK one as "22" in the picture, after its release date. Oh I am sooooooooo sad. ***NME*** Finally got last weeks NME. Very dull article, but nice picture of Stuart on the cover. Actually - I can hardly see how they can justify calling it an interview at all. It was just Stuart calling Mr Wells to clarify his points from the press conference. Anyway ... at least Mr Wells referred to himself as a hack. That's one less thing I have to say. I guess what I found insulting was the implication that bands HAVE to make a political statement. He mentioned the Mekons, and how a concert from them was a lesson in feminisation. semiotics or something or other. Now, I've never seen B&S live, but listening their music gives me a lesson in love, and beauty etc. etc. Politics isn't the only important thing in life. Sure ... if Stuart Murdoch was a Nazi I wouldn't listen to B&S, but Mr Gillespie (the apparent peak of all things great about rock'n'roll according to the NME) has dodgy politics at best. "I take drugs as a political statement" for example. errrrrrrrr .... what? I don't think that speed you take is made on a nice collective farm run by vegetarian feminists, Bobby. The way things stand at the moment (and I'm not going to debate drug law here) is that drugs are the product of crime, and people who deal in that sort of thing stand a good chance of being hurt. For every speed taking pop star there is some solo-mum junkie prostitute degrading herself trying to make a living and feed her habit. You're talking shit pal. And didn't you like how they called us an "inarticulate and self-satisfied fan base". Sinister: Is This The Way The Future's Meant To Feel?

Hello-- Yet another fresh-faced kid just arrived from the nursery, so before I begin telling you one of the great injustices of living in Phoenix some basic info about myself.-> My name is Rachel, and I discovered B+S a little over a year ago (all you old timers pipe down), after my sister (starving artist in NYC type) reccommended TBWTAS to me. I fell in love with the title track and since then I've been smitten. I'm in high school, my first day of exams was today but they were pretty relaxed and groovy so I'm grateful. My favorite track off the new Looper album is "Puddle Monkey"--I wish it was longer. I just saw Stereolab on Saturday and they were fabulous; and Looper w/ The Flaming Lips on April 1, which was beyond superb--I'm still picking confetti out of my clothing. I also enjoy the music of Blur (because they realized they were s***ing out so they released 13), The Velvet Underground (because Waldo Jeffers had reached his limit), and The Smiths (of course!!), to name a few. The Trial is my favorite movie, because in it Tony Perkins looks like a frightened spider monkey. The great injustice of living in the Phoenix area--Legal Man isn't out until Friday!! :-(( That and the fact that it was 109 degrees today. Has anyone noticed that: * At certain times (especially when singing the chorus), Stuart M sounds a little like Nico? * The titles to B+S albums are getting longer? ( 1 word, 4 words, 6 words, 9 words) * Mike Love really is the devil? Another thought that's keeping me awake--> "Is Morrissey lonely?" I keep picturing him in some giant echo-y house in LA, wandering from room to room and finally getting bored and switching on his big screen TV, a tear trickling down his eye because this is the third day in a row nobody's phoned him. Maybe it's just me. But I think I need to go find a handkercheif anyway.......... (sorry this post was longer than intended, and not as B+S related as it could've been. I'll try harder next time.) ...I soon found out that my lonely life wasn't so pretty" Inspired by Youn's last post, and since I have a bit of money coming my way, I was thinking about delving into the Kraftwerk catalogue...any ideas where to start? Speaking of money and capitalism, I'm gearing up to have it out the money establishment (read: my old boss) about being re-hired at my old record store at a higher pay. I've been reading Marx and Engels and Woody Guthrie all spring so I'm quite primed to enter into an ideological debate on the rightness of my cause; however it'll probably go something like this: Me: Greg, I want to come back to work here, but since I now have a car payment to make I need more money. It's not morally correct for this company to make so much profit yet leave its employees in such abject poverty. Where does this money go, and doesn't my hard-working approach to salesman ship ensure these profits continue to come in (and increase yearly)? [growing slight louder, less composed, voice beginning to crack] Why am I not entitled to more money than the owner who merely fills out forms and smokes weed for a living? phew. i've been waiting with eager anticipation for *weeks* now for exceptance into the wierd and wonderful world of sinister. i had all of these really cool things to say about all the debates that have been going on. but now that i've been "given my voice", i also seem to have "lost it", in the sense that i can't think of anything witty which might endear me to you. because i'm *so* desperate to be liked that my palms are sweating and my brain is hurting. only *i* could get embarrassed over the net. <blush> okeedoke. my names sophie, ive got my first a level exam tommorow. eek. should really be revising about injection moulding for my design exam. im a bit sad about leaving school. after years of being confined to the solitary corner of the diner hall with my marmite and alf-alfa sandwiches i'm only just starting to enjoy the idea of being a teenage freak. and other people are only just starting to except me as a person, not a geek. the other day, however, i did read someone's nomination form for our leaving ball prizes. someone had created a catorgary just for me: most wanna-be indie person: sophie. i wasn't insulted. the person who wrote it quotes oasis, ocs and the stereophonics as their favourite bands. and don't you just HATE the word 'indie'. i don't quite know what makes me a 'wanna-be'. well, i hope i can be excepted into the land of sinister. i used to be quite a big part of another mailing list/fandom but as the band got bigger, things got far too bitchy and so i left. like if you haven't slept with the lead singer and haven't got the first single ltd release on vinyl then you're not a *true* fan. i like the sound of sinister tho. the word twee comes to mind............................hehe! only joking! and about the nme thang: i suggest we all email angst tonite to ask whether or not that tony robinson who did last weeks angst is gay simon from eastenders or not. love sophie xxx +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the undead Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail sinister(a)missprint.org. Sorry I can't help myself but bore you this morning, but Francis Leach on JJJ just told me after playing "the wrong girl" that "Fold your hands..." is now officially out. This can't be true, can it? I am inclined to believe every word Francis says, as he is a god in his own right, but I honestly didn't think it was yet. Maybe this will explain why I can't get Legal Man yet. Please let me know.
