Hello knitters, Well, what a Belle & Sebastian day I had yesterday what with the new album coming out and then chatting with Richard, Chris, and Mick via those nice people at MTV's chat room. It was nice to see the boys enlightening responses to inciteful questioning, especially by that Jim Rockford character, Carsmile's World Cup willy and someone wanting them to play at her wedding. I don't know. Actually I have to admit Jim's line of question was a bit dissapointing, it nearly made me tear down all my Rockford Files posters, and I would probably would have too if it hadn't been for the fact I've become quite emotionally attached to the one of him in his white bathrobe with Jim emblazoned in gold lame on his left breast. The chat, though, was made all the more interesting by the fact it seemed to take place in an Eminem chat room. Slim Shady indeed. There were also a sprinkling of teenage girls there interested in chatting to boys and as Carsmile wrote wanting some good lovin', despite my membership of the Big Gay Club faction of this NME berated institution it still made me all a bit hot udder the collar. Actually my membership of said camp is under question unless I can leave this udder obsession behind me and in the past. Anyway, there was also a lot of MTV are corporate scum comments in this chat thing too which I'm sure shook the foundations of said institution, well they were quite funny... Oh yeah and the album's fucking good too in't it? I'm allowed to say that now. I love the thick strings plastered everywhere. I love some strings, and there's enough on there to a keep a Tom with a vigorous libido's litter of kittens entertained right through to retirement. And as Gene Clark sang... Apart from Belle and Sebastian, this week I've been mainly thinking about Francis Benali the long serving Southampton full back. I've just been conjegating and deliberating, a bit like that tosser Lloyd Grossman about those posh folk making ponsey food, I mean when didn't a Findus Crispy Pancake constitiute the essential ingredient of a gourment delight? Sorry what I meant to say is I've just been wondering whether Francis' mum is proud of him or not. I'm really just not sure... And don't get me started on Doug Rougvie, largely because he'd kick my sorry foppish arse. I'm sorry to keep harping on about B&S but I know no Eminem. Apart from the "candy" but they're no substitute for Revels unlike what the bloke in my local sweet shop suggested when he broke the news to me that they were indeed revel-less or unrevelled or something. It reminded me of that recent occassion when I asked for a pint of lager and it was suggested I should have Tenant's. I really haven't got over that obviously traumatic occassion yet. I'm thinking of counselling, which let's face it is better than thinking of Benali. Anyway I was surprised to see Alasdair Cook listed as playing percussion on the new album, as the only thing I've seen him play is the fruit. But I'm sure he could give a good bang to anything if he put his mind to it. Nudge, nudge, tilt, damn my ball's dropped! Or something. Sorry but my life is a game of pinball... Anyway better go and make that life size model of Everest out of mash potato, parsley and the Marillion fan club. Things are fishy round here indeed and I don't mean the penguin sanctuary I've created in my flatmates bedroom. Oh and the new Tompaulin ep as it's great so go and get it. Sinister: new sweet album

Hey sweet people Well I have yet not bought the new album but i managed to hear it in the local record shop. they played it all afternoon so I went in and out just to hear the songs. What can u do when u are a poor student i mean. The Legalman sigle is just great. Winter Wooksie is my favourite at the moment. It reminds me of myself. Waving to a boy I used to love. Anyway sson is summer coming along and I am looking for one of those portable record players to play my belle vinyls on. While having picnics with the ones I love. I't great to sit at Djurgården in summertime drinking whine with your best mates and singing belle songs. Sweet and innocent in a way I guess. I am saving to get to uk again..and US. God knows I'll never get there..hmm. One thing is good about the autumn. i get to move to my new flat. Want to say a sunny hello to all the people from last summers meetup in camed, Mark, Marcus, martin, Debbie, those two american girls and the rest of the gang. Hi Twee Majority. *Edinburgh Picnic* Come on people, it's this Saturday, and it's gonna be an absolute kick-ass day (or prod-buttock day, if you're gentler than me <wink>) *Amy Jackson* She's coming down to join me at the Edinburgh Picnic and the Looper gig - I hope you're all as nice to her as you were to me - I'm certainly looking forward to it <smiles> *FYHCYWLAP* I was in the car, coming home, new album clutched tightly in my sweaty paws, when Mark and Lard played "I Fought In A War." They went on to tell the average listener that the new album is *better* than Tigermilk!! Now, I may not have listened to it as much as Tigermilk, and it *is* good, but it's never a Tigermilk beater, maybe if "Beyond The Sunrise" had been the b-side to Legal Man, and Winter Wooksie (<grins> sorry Alasdair) swapped over, then it could have been a contender. But as it is, it just falls short. My estimation of B&S album greatness follows: (1) Sinister (2) Tigermilk (3) Peasant and finally (4) Arab Strap - despite this, though, I still love them all. *Stuart David being tired* I say leave the poor guy alone. I mean, true, the job isn't the most rigerous in the world, but when you take into account rehersals, soundchecks, and all the jetting around a US tour would involve, added to the Trans-Atlantic flight home, I can pretty much understand how he could be a little tired. And to the person who said Stu hates his fans - I've met him a few times, and he's been nothing but pleasant to me, even when I confessed to only coming to see Looper because of B&S connections. *Jeepster ignore me again* I have asked Jeepster *so many times* to add me to the postcard mailing list, and have sent that bluddy wee postcard in each album/single away every time, and they *still* keep me on e-mail only! I wanna postcard to stick on my wall!!!! ******My FYHCYWLAP poster was stolen!!!!!!!!!!!****** A few weeks ago in Glasgow's Tower Records, there was a Fishyclap poster on the wall, which I attempted to blag - the guy behind the counter said he'd give it to me if I came back a couple of weeks later, and took my name and stuff. I went back the other day to get it, and I was told that some evil villain had *stolen* it from the wall. I could have cried - I *wanted* that poster so badly! ey oop! i've been kinda ultra-busy of late and not really been able to keep up with the list, so this morning i sat down and waded through 155 posts AND READ EVERY ONE OF THEM. so i'm going kinda mental now and my eyes are flickering a bit from staring at puter screens, but it was worth it, cause they were all ace, cause you're all such luverly people. etcetera. but having been so busy for these past few weeks, i'm pretty much finished college *forever* now, which can be quite exciting from the point of view that there's a whole big world out there just waiting for me to take it on, but there's also the big temptation of 'hmm, maybe i could just stay in bed...'. so i'm not quite sure what i'm going to do now and there's a big stretch of uncertainty and emptiness ahead i guess. i probably will just stay in bed for a bit. at least i've got the new album to keep me company. unlike a lot of you i hadn't heard it before yesterday, so it was dead exciting. i nearly ran from the record shop to the bus stop to go home, before realising that me running would only slow me down as i'd have to lie on the pavement for a bit to recover...i was a bit apprehensive as well, given what some people had written and the fact that it *only* got four out of five in the sunday herald, but i needn't have worried, cause it really is ace. and i'm pretty sure i'm saying that for real and not just cause i want it to be. it was pretty much on repeat yesterday and listening to it on my walkman on the bus this morning i was still getting goosebumps every two minutes (even with one earphone not working). i think 'there's too much love' got the biggest goosebump rating, although 'woman's realm' and 'i fought in a war' were up there too. but you knew this already. someone said that 'beyond the sunrise' would be most likely to cause list comment and i have to say i could probably have done without it, although it might grow, solely due to its silliness. and what does 'nice day for a sulk' remind me of? good to see a mention of the mightly fall, though (as john peel would say). 'don't leave the light on baby' is GRATE *and* different, so they are moving on, idiot music hacks. i'd luv to be able to get to the edinburgh picnic on saturday, but i'm not sure if i'll make it. my big f-off college leaving thing, with ballgowns, tuxedos and kilts and stuff, is on friday and me hungover is likely to scare the children. i should be looking forward to it, i guess, but i know that a certain person who's going will leave me hurt and disappointed yet again, which is not a nice thing to know or look forward to. so i'll probably spend saturday in bed listening to 'slow graffiti' over and over. not for the first time...but hey! my stoopid problems are *so* boring and maybe going to the picnic will make me feel better. i've never been to one before, and i'd really like to, so i'll try my best. doubt if i'll be eating much, mind... see yah luv ian n ____________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Sinister: Looper. Need a rest do they?

So Stuart D needs a rest after 2 whole months of work does he. The lazy bastard. Cancelling most of the tour apart from Glasgow (home gig) and London (maximum sales revenue) is a shit thing to do. Jesus, most people work 9-5 jobs which knacker you out and would give anything to be in a band where, lets be honest it's hardly work intensive. 90 mins on stage A soundcheck Maybe talking about yourself to a couple of journalists. That's all they had to do. And they were supporting the Flaming lips, not headlining! Stuart's dislike of fans is well documented, especially those who only like Looper becuase of B&S. (which is quite a fair proportion of them) However to cancel a tour becuase of tiredness is crap. If he had a genunine excuse such as a real illness or a family tragedy (as happened to Gorky's recently)then cancel it by all means. Not becuase you fancy a break from the rigours of well, doing the job you have chosen. He's shat on the people who pay his bills. It's not even if the new album was a masterpiece. was he too tired to write some tunes or something? Sinister: its over!!!

right, well thats another year of univeristy behind me. As you can see, spelling wasn't something I learnt a lot of. Well, not in English. I didn't know what time my exam was today. I really could have done something earlier and sooner to find out, but alas, I'm a lazy ass, and I didn't. Anyway, luckily I checked my clock, which was reading PM rather than AM, when it was indeed, 1am. I think those dastardly flatmates have been fiddling there. Cos I Know I haven't... long story of conspiracy reasons as to why and how.... As me if you want, ask Mulder and Scully if you want aliens in the story. Anyway, no idea when my exam was, so I thought, as I sometimes do, I know, I 'll get up and pop in, but I'm sure its in the afternoon. Well I woke up, a little later than planned, bustled about, bussed myself into uni, checked the timetable on the notice board. TWO MINUTES TIME!! panic attack. Adrenilin rushes through, and I think... .oh no, I am getting a headache.. Anyway, make it to the exam hall, write away for all my hands can do and for all that my little brain can manage, writing things like "Mr Hague sniggered" and Ann Widdicombe purred". Then I got my project mark.. the big 5000 word one? got a good grade. Happy as a bunny. Got a good grade for Norwegian as well, which might be useful when the exam results return and bring my grade up to a pass. And now I'm sitting here, thinking, blimey, its my summer holidays no, what am I going to do? Its fun when I got other things to be getting on with, you know, cos wasting time is much more worthwhile then. Maybe I'll just pack my bags this week and think why I don't have to think anymore.... its scary. My life is now stress free.... well, once I'm out of the flat. Mark Tigermilker said something about a gorilla and Stu M. Well, my little tigermarker, you're a darling, but that seems a bit too Siggie Freud really. Are you suggesting that The gorrilla represents Steven Wells oppressed feelings of primative anger and behaviour retaliating against the happiness of Stu M? Are you suggesting that perhaps Steven Wells had parents like Stu M, and maybe this led to his rebelious revolt, and thus an anger and hatred for that which his parents represented? Are you suggesting that Steven Wells still hasn't gotten over the idea of being made to wear yellow dungarees with little flowers on the bottom and listen to Simon And Garfunkel, and has thus taken it out on Stu M? Or maybe he just looks at Stu M as a father figure... if you want my opinion, I think it was a stab at a scooby doo story. Could be amusing. lets see, scooby, shaggy, daphne, thelma, freddy.... and scrappy doo as well, but hes a bit crap really. Sinister: Two posts within' two days. No way! Yes Way!!

How Y'all Doin'? This is extremely unusual for me. I very rarely post twice in a month never mind within two days. The main reason being I never have anything interesting to say. So you will all be pleased to know that there is no change today. I still have nothing interesting to say. But I'm stuck in an office until around 5pm this afternoon sat behind a desk doing piss boring office work. So I just thought writing a post to my fellow Sinister Listees would cheer me up. Office work really does get you down sometimes. I've said it before and I'll say it again: "Office work will drive you to drink!!" Not that I mind though. Nothing beats a good bevy session at the weekend or weeknights doesn't really matter to me. I was at my sisters wedding on Saturday and I was completely rat-arsed. I mean I didn't do anything to embarrass my family, I don't think I did anyway. But my dear old little mother was rather ashamed of me. She was also just a little bit angry. She actually said to me: "What sort of state was that to get in last night? You know you spoilt the wedding for me. After all the money I spent............Blah blah blah" What sort of thing is that to say to your loving son. Anyhoo.................. Onto the new album. What a blistering, sensational, superb new album!! I already new in my mind that I was going to love the album anyway. But it is absolutely fantastic. Locked myself in my room last night and put the album on repeat. What a wonderful night. Three songs that hit me right away were; The Model The Wrong Girl Women's Realm I don't know if it is just me but does the start of 'The Model' remind anyone else of 'My Wandering Days Are Over?' It's the tune in the background that just sounds very similar. Right. Ok. I'll be off then before anyone feels that they have to swallow some anti-depressants to keep them from going mad. Yaaaaawwwwnnnnn God, i'm knackered. This is what happens when you stay up til 1 in the morning staring at a computer screen. Why? Because of the MTV.com Belle and Sebastian webchat, that's why. And what a load of CRAP it was. It takes something like this to remember why it is we need music journalists. It was Chris, Richard and Mick answering the questions which were almost without exception banal, dull or just plain silly (and frankly the answers weren't a whole lot better). It wasn't as if questions were being asked and then the moderator was following them up to get a decent answer, it was just question, loads of waffle between fans, one line answer (the boys must be slow typers), more waffle and bitching about our questions not getting picked... The two most interesting points were they'd like the Chemical Brothers to do a remix and if Richard hadn't been a drummer he'd have tried to be a professional snooker playa (but i think we knew that second bit, didn't we?) The Wrong Girl vid is GRATE, what i can see though the Realplaya murk anyway, and it has funny subtitles, which I *think* are all Dylan quotes, Ms Waggner, would you care to confirm this :) Anyway, i am also feeling knackered because i am taking hayfever tablets and despite the claims of the nice woman in Boots they are making me feel like i am lagged to buggery as they do each year. And how come no one's mentioned There's Too Much Love. This is currently my FAVE track on the album, although I think it would be even better with another verse. ** Trivia Time ** Can anyone else think of another band who steadfastly refuse to release tracks off albums as singles? ...I'm terrified actually because the last time I loved a band and ran out to buy their new album on the day it was released, the album turned out to be "The Great Escape" I have not done the eager "day of" run to the record store since... Still, I have "buy new B&S album" on my to-do list for tomorrow (today), I mean, if I kept a list it would be on there.
