No one really knows me as i've been lurking, but i share your 15ness
;) I'm Sarah, and i reside in Canada, for those wondering who i am and
what i want, there's one of your questions answered anyway (evil laugh).
I like the part about you being nice and turning someone into a Belle
and Sebastian fan, I'm porud of myself today as I have done that as
well, with my friend Elspeth. My goal is to make a new fan every day.
So far the head count is (ahem) 1. :D
How many others here have scouted out potential B&S fans? I love when
that happens, when i find someone else who's at least open to bands like
them, it's rare around me. My fellow students like such tosh, they
think I'm from another planet when i rip out my discman and headphones.
Oh dearm its 4:26am
sleep time,

Keith is lying. He has all the Driscolls records and pictures of
little fluffy puppy dogs all over his room. And his favourite film is
"Bambi".

Let's see, Keith got 101, and Susannah got 6 more, but he won't tell
us what she got. Anyway, I got more than either of you. Hooray! In
answer to the person who thought the sleaze quiz wasn't PC - c'mon, it
was just a bit of a larff, and as far as I'm concerned the sleazier
the better. Someone I know claims to have got 268 points, I can't
tell you who that was, but I'm changing the locks.

I would just like to assure of all you that whatever Rod may be
implying, he has never shagged me up the arse. I'd still be walking
like John Wayne if he had, I'm sure.
Sad songs?
"Crimson and Clover" by Tommy James and the Shondells has a melody so
sad I couldn't actually bring myself to listen to it for years. "Down
from Dover" by Nancy and Lee (which Dolly Parton wrote) for when Nancy
actually cries at the end, and Dolly herself doing "I will always love
you" is pretty fucking heartbreaking.
Some friends of mine were watching "The Elephant Man". One of them
was crying, so my pal Mark said "Awww, don't cry, it's a true story,
and he dies at the end."
And on that bombshell,
Love tag xx

I do!! It was the first AMC album I bought and I thought all their
albums were just as good. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case at all.
Their other albums disappointed me, and not just one of them, but three
(Engine, Mercury, and San Francisco). But "Everclear" is so wonderful,
especially the songs on the second side like 'Sick of Food' and 'Royal
Cafe'. AMC was the first concert I ever went to (in 1992, after I came
to school in the Bay Area from Texas)
Take care,
Birjinder

hi everyone!
stephen trousers, thanks much for that monday poem, it was one of the few
highlights of a monday work disaster which had us working straight through
from 8:30 monday morning till midnight tuesday! a nice moment came along
about 2am-- except for the cd player it was creepily quiet in the office
like it is in offices in the middle of the night, if you're feeling
sinister was in the player and during stars of track and field 6 people
typing manically in separate cubes broke the silence at the very same
moment and sang the chorus!
with no real sleep for days and no dreams to cloud up the works, the events
of last weekend up to and including a car accident on sunday afternoon are
still fresh in my fatigued brain and a thing happened friday night that's
been topical on the list as of late...it was after midnight and megan and I
were staggering down P st. in the direction of the fox and hounds for some
more spring refreshment (thanks to andy fox it's the only dive in town with
belle and sebastian in the jukebox, go andy!). it was a warm, breezy night,
plenty of people out and about, but the closest people walking were pretty
far ahead and behind us...timing must be our gift because we noticed a car
pulled over to the curb, the car was running, with no one in the driver's
seat, and as we walked by the car the door flew open and this guy in the
passenger seat wearing a maniacal grin but no pants was furiously wrestling
the champion in our general direction! a few hours later in megan's car on
U st., hurtling toward the all-night drive-thru to our favorite scottish
place we asked ourselves, selves, should we post about this to the list? at
that moment, swear to god, cliff richard came on the radio.
but I'm not writing to tell of the mad whack, I'm really just passing on a
message from my friend gail who lives in new york, we did a zine together
for a few years and I got busy/lazy and quit doing it, but she's still
doing it godblessher, it's called chickfactor and the newest one has
interviews with our favorite gals sarah and isobel! gail asked me to give
you all the address in case you want to order it. this issue also has
interviews with momus, spring, the divine comedy, jeffrey honeybunch,
future bible heroes, martin phillips, a high llamas jukebox jury, and more
stuff I'm certainly forgetting. you can get it for $4 u.s. and $6 overseas,
that includes postage, to
gail o'hara

new york, NY 10003
cheers,
pam
p.s. oh it's a green week. yes andy "crockett" dean I'm jealous of your
miami-beach-filled jeans cuffs. tag, I've got going-to-sweden envy. and
duke, triple that jealousy for you and other lucky dogs who get to see the
jasmine minks this weekend!!

Matt Niemark mentioned a sample of Seberg from A Bout de Souffle being
included in "Hurley's Having Dreams".
Darn! I've never noticed this the numerous times I've listened to it. I
am wondering though if anyone knows the sample that precedes "London Has
Let Me Down" with the speeding car, the french guy sounding tough, the
gunshot...
I don't know why, but I think it's from "Vivre Se Vie" (My Life To Live
for the english)--another, and perhaps more brilliant?, film by God[ard]
himself. (Though my personal favorite is Pierrot le Fou because it has
*both* Belmondo and Karina).
... time to listen to Hurley's Having Dreams again...

Holy Kazaam!
Kristen's comparisons of Jean Seberg's outfit to the chanteuse on
3..6..9..[etc] reminded me of the first time I saw Isobel at the now
defunct but notorious, nay dare I say *infamous*, Sessions at West 54th
taping:
Isobel wore her hair short ala Seberg, and even wore a black and
white stripey shirt--just like Seberg's character! Why, I wouldnae been
surprised if she opened up a secret compartment in her cello and whipped
out some New York Herald Tribunes and let them fly around the room.
but i really should be getting back to work...
