Poor old Windy.
It is true that I challenged him to an insult competition, but I thought I'd
take it easy on the poor soul, since he made off whimpering and licking his
wounds, like a dog, after a couple of light-hearted haikus.
Just as well I did since it appears that the best he can come up with is
school bus standard at best. I mean...'fatty' and 'chicken'? Doesn't even
sound like a contest to me.
Hope the constipation's clearing up, Petey. That trawl through the entire
1980s Rod Stewart output should have helped. I hope you particularly enjoyed
'Young Turks'.
Wanted to look like Jimmy Webb, huh? And ended up looking like Jimmy
Tarbuck.
Bye
Tim

Let's try to narrow things down a bit, before things get out of hand:
The episode of Little House on the Prairie when Laura sticks some apples up
her jumper to make it look as if she's got tits
or...
The episode of The Waltons when Elizabeth is subjected to a terrifying
ordeal at the hands of a poltergeist.

Opinions are like arseholes. Everyone's got one. You think they're
great, I don't. C'est Lavvy.

Tell me about it. I was there because "Carnival of Light" is one of my
all-time fave albums. "Hugely disappointed" is the expression I'm looking
for.
The Paul Oakenfield remix single was really quite good, though.

Yeah? Well my dad used to work in the Central Regional Council Social
Work department, when Ian Ross was in charge, and he's the dad of one of
The Diggers. Yes. Be impressed.

Big Tackle suggested that Stuart was taking the piss by asking about
biscuits. I'm no mind reader, but I don't think there was any malice
involved, more a case of joining in the "fun".
Three attempts to introduce a bit of B&S content while we wait for the
Monday Poem:
1) How about an ink polaroid of the contract signing ceremony, Katrina? Or a
bit more detail. I don't mean the financial ins and outs, just a bit of
background for those of us who don't know how these things work. For
instance, does each member have their own contract, or is it a joint
contract, meaning that they are legally bound to each other as well as to
Matador? What happens if Sarah Martin decides to leave the band due to the
pressures of raising a family with Christopher Alexander Leonard? That kind
of thing...
2) What are Stuart M and the unnamed catfish on the cover of 3..6..9
laughing about?
3) I'm just listening to the marvellous Jimmy Webb's "Archive 1970-1977",
something I don't do very often. There is a song called "Feet in the
Sunshine" which sounds remarkably similar to "Ease Your Feet in the Sea".
It's a gorgeous song, in fact it's a gorgeous album. In fact, it's so
gorgeous I can't for the life of me work out why people buy new records when
there are so many nice old ones. New records should be banned. But that's
beside the point, what I really want to know is whether or not it's a
deliberate tribute to the author of "Lady Fits Her Blue Jeans" or just
coincidence. I would dearly like to look like Jimmy Webb on the back cover
of this album - stylish, self-assured, Georgie Best haircut, proper
cufflinks.

Hehe, a bit useless without the date, unless it's every day for the rest of
eternity, having said that though, I think he said it was Tuesday 24th, i.e.
on Tuesday. If I'm incorrect about this, someone had better post the correct
date pretty quicksharp though.
Cheers,
Keith.

I saw Snow Patrol on Saturday in Leeds. The band were excellent but the
audience wasn't particularly big. You see, there was a Mogwai gig
practically next door to which everybody in West Yorkshire had tickets lest
myself and the other 15 people in audience. Even Snowpatrol had tickets,
so they came on early and left early. Apart from the lack of atmosphere
though they were really good.
As for the type of music I can't really classify it. Sort of Indie Pop
gone wrong. Perhaps someone can explain better...

Can anyone tell me what sort of stuff Snow Patrol play? They were in Dublin
the other week I think but I didn't know about it til it was over.
They played a great Radcliffe Session about 3 years ago, promised a new
album soon, and promptly disappeared off the face of the earth.
Token B&S Question: Has anyone got the lyrics to "Century Of Elvis" (sorry
if this is one that's come up before)
On the great TV Debate, Knight Rider was the business and gets my vote . My
only memory of Manimal was of hiding behind the sofa when the transformation
was taking place. For some reason I could watch it so long as there was a
big chair between me and the telly...
