All these posts from Tin Tin reminded me of the other Tin Tin, though he's dropped that moniker. Cooking Vinyl (who have just signed XTC, coincidentally) are releasing "I Love My Friends" on March 30th in the U.K. The single "17" comes out two weeks before that (not the lavish three cd affair, just one). As far as recording goes, the Lilacs are purchasing a 17th century computer (Stephen's words, not mine) and some hard disk recording gear and will begin recording THE LILAC TIME '99 in the summer. Oh, and the Legacy & Jazz label (Sony) in Japan will release a reissue of "Astronauts" at mid-price with 7 or 8 extra tracks. I have more details if anyone is interested. Dear Kelly (& everyone else going to see the Pastels) This is a warning to all those who will be in the Garage/ Highbury&Islington vicinity at nineteen hundred hours tonight: WARNING: A badly dressed irish male (otherwise known as Mr. Sean-I'm-piss'funny-really-Hughes) will be seen in the bar area tonight trying to look cool. Also in the bar area tonight will be Lawrence, the head of Domino, who according to Mr. Hughes, can easily be spotted by the fact that he resembles "a staid Julian Clary". Erm, B&S content... Weell, Steve from the Pastels who was being interviewed on GLR by Sean said that the band (and I know most of you probably already know this, but i'm desperate for a link) was good friends with other Glaswegian bands, such as Teenage Fanclub and, get this, Belle and Sebastian. But Arab Strap weren't apparently such good friends becoz they were from Falkirk, and therfore much harder - (which is weird coz i thought Arab Strap s'portd B&S on their last tour) Anyway everyone, beware... York University? I am visiting soon to see if I like it better than Bangor (I doubt it) I am doing shitty A level mocks at the moment. BTW. There is a huge B&S fan at York (might be you for all I know) who has a copy of Tigermilk and once turned down £150 for it!! Leave a couple of weeks where you don't listen at all. I did this with the Lightning Seeds (surprise ticket - hadn't listened to them for months) and was blown away. I am feeling very mainstream Can anyone make me a tape of these cool underground(ish) bands that they keep talking about. Now if you are like me and can only make a tape if it is for someone else. Evidence - thousands of half made tapes around my room (too young for a house!) which were made for myself. I mean I have never heard any stuff by: Nick Cave Northern Soul Pastels Holiday House of Love (well one song!) Delgadoes the Goats and stuff anyone want to educate me? in return I can offer a Radiohead or Catatonia conversion kit. as you all think I am a miserable Radiohead loving gimboid I reccommend the Cataonia kit. Anyone going to see them at the Camden Electric Balroom in February? What tube station is that?
