has anyone heard that brilliant song that is played constantly on
X-fm
It is by Headswim I think and it is called Tourniquet
Well anyway it is absolutely brilliant
Did anyone out there hear the X-fm top 100 alternative tunes?
I got up to the Roses - I wanna be adored but I had to go out.
Who got number one. At a guess I'd say Paranoid Android got it. I
don't think a Beatles/U2/R.E.M/Oasis/Blur song would've got it 'cause
there brilliance is spread between songs. There is no stand out
track. Not saying that the other Radiohead stuff is shite cause it
is brilliant but PA is just an amazing song.
Is the top 100 listed on the NET
Where did B&S come? *<<<< content*
who is Mr Shankley?
bye and a cool 1998 for everyone on the list

In response to James Morton .....
I bought Tindersticks latest album ("Curtains" I believe) just before Chrimbo, because I thought Mr Staples sounded just like Ian Curtis - Joy Division.
Having now played the CD repeatedly for 2 weeks and totally fallen in love with it, I thought it high-time I introduced it to a couple of my more discerning friends. Shock Horror !! I was appalled - they both thought it sound just like Vic Reeves' club singing malarky on Shooting Stars...Bastards!

... Dear me, my third posting - I'm getting addicted! Anyway, the boy you
describe sounds like Suedebloke, who was on my left. And the girl - c'est
moi! Thankyou for mentioning the bigness of my hair - it's usually very
lank, so I go thru hell backcombing it (it's agony in the morning!) in
order to reach the desired effect, so its very rewarding when someone
mentions the largeness of it! And thankyou for saying red, 'cos it's
washing out a bit now and veering towards orange!

They were like Sukia, only without any actual tunes involved. They were art
school wank and anyone who wants to flame me for that do so - I love a good
argument!

Hello again.
Just to say that this Friday (22nd) will be the last Blue Soda Social
for at least a fortnight. So if you haven't come down yet this would
probably be a good time.
Last week saw the very lovely Isobel attacking all comers with a
large stuffed lion. And you can't get much better than that can you?
Stay Lovely, Roryxxx

Hello Sinister lovelies...

>just gotta say to all the lovely people i met on Sat it was great to
>meet you! i wish i could have stayed at the aftershow, i was so guted i
>had to leave :((.....but it was still a brilliant gig!
>
>And i want to know *you* stuart david *you* had been drinking before

>Movies.....
Mmmmmm......drunken...Stuart David....
(just to see this, and have a bad gig I would've been happy)
I haven't been home for a while, had to sleep on a cold floor and then forced
to some creaky old apartment, while you all had such wonderful times! (Well
some of you anyways...)So what do Belle and Sebastian do all this time when
they only have to play 2 shows a year? Do they not practice? Or do they feel
they don't have to show...well...Sunday sounded beautiful,I wish I could've
gone,ANY gig by Belle and Sebastian (the shows by bands I like are a very
rare thing.....)
But I did have a lovely (weird) dream..I was running over THE bridge in
England, and I won the race and they gave me a balloon procaliming I won the
esaiest race in the world....but the balloon started to carry me away,so I
walked a ways to some lovely sand dunes where the Longpigs (well..Crispin
Hunt actually) was there, and it just got even lovlier....
BUT,when I turned on the tv at the creaky apartment, the first thing I see is
the video for 'On and On' now I've NEVER seen this video before and the
Longpigs arne't your usual video play.
Hmmmmmm!
champagne kisses love love,
Genevieve :)

Hallo there, another newbie to the list. I wanted to take the time to
say it's so much fun being in contact with so many other B&S fans;
reading the gig reviews is especially interesting! I live in San
Francisco and haven't had the opportunity to catch a live appearance
yet... will I ever?????
My other musical interests run in the typical Britpop vein, and tho
Belle is something I've only gotten into over the past few months, I
already find myself making compilation tapes for friends, saying "You've
got to hear this!!"
Have yet to meet any other B&S fans, even in this city reknowned for its
Anglophilia (it is, isn't it?) but I look forward to receiving info on
the band from all you good good people on the list:-)
Regards and Happy New Year, btw!

Hello boys and girls,
A mad crazy delicious weekend, and somehow I don't seem capable of
reviewing the gigs or anything, but here's a top 10 'moments'
1 All of our friends were there, and some new ones too - Paul 'Cigar
Officionado' Mitchell (thanks for the tape), JJ (shortly but sweetly),
Soozy, Pam, Stuart 'god you're tall' Gardiner' and Sarah. And the guy
who reckons my mails are too long (cheeky fucker!). But nobody gets to
meet the Duke.
2 'Modern Rock Song' and 'Slow Graffiti'
3 Staring up at the beautiful ceiling in the Town Hall during 'Seymour
Stein' with a tear in my eye, thinking 'I'm really very happy indeed'.
4 David and Katrina being eminently lovable in the face of adversity
5 Half the band arriving at the aftershow when the place was already
ludicrously packed, and having to pursuade the landlord that they HAD
to come in, only to find myself on the pavement myself going 'err, I'm
sorry about this' and feeling like a total fucking amateur. Sorry if
anyone couldn't get in.
6 Keith 'All Smiles' Watson and 'naughty little sister' Susannah
disco-dancing like mad young things on the stage at the Star and
Garter
7 Julian playing Queen's 'Don't stop me now' on Sunday morning and
hangover lifting instantly.
8 Chris G, with a bucket under his keyboards on Sunday cos he'd drunk
too much on Saturday night. 'Oh, I've accidentally pulled my lead
out'. Chris - you're a star.
9 Donovan Lovedrake!
10 Stevie saying 'see you in hell' to a heckler and sounding like
Lucifer's child, Stuart saying 'oh my bowels' (or was it balls or
bones) for no apparent reason.
It was bloody good wasn't it?
Happy New Year to you all.
Love
